Citizen Soldier 400
Yahoo: Top 30 Drivers
Yahoo / Fantasy Live / Fox: Quick Picks
The first round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup wraps up this weekend at Dover International Speedway. Sunday's Citizen Solider 400 will be the first elimination race of the playoffs, and the championship field will be trimmed from 16 to 12 after the checkered flag waves.
Every race during the Chase is pressured packed, but the intensity is only amplified in an elimination race. For some drivers, a win is their only hope for staying in the title hunt, and they will do just about anything to try to reach for victory lane. Other drivers simply have to stay out of trouble, and they drive accordingly, making conservative calls on the track and pit road.
Keep in mind the agenda of each driver when assembling your fantasy NASCAR lineups this weekend. If you are simply looking for a solid performance, loading up on the Chase drivers who are in great shape to advance on points is a sound approach. If you want to try to be aggressive with a boom-or-bust lineup, targeting the drivers on the bubble who have to have a big performance is your best chance at hitting a home run.
1. KEVIN HARVICK, #4 BUSCH BEER/JIMMY JOHNS, STEWART-HAAS RACING [YAHOO CLASS A]
The pressure if off Harvick this weekend after his win at New Hampshire, but that doesn't mean he can't win at Dover. After all, he is the defending winner of this weekend's race, and in the five races since joining Stewart-Haas Racing, he has led 511 more laps than any other driver at the track.
2. MARTIN TRUEX, JR., #78 FURNITURE ROW, FURNITURE ROW RACING [YAHOO CLASS B]
Truex is challenging for wins on a routine basis, and that shouldn't change this weekend at Dover. He has four top 10s in the last five races at the track and eight top 15s in the last 10 races. Truex led 47 laps here in May, and he has led 178 laps over the last three races here combined.
3. KYLE BUSCH, #18 MARS BRANDS/INTERSTATE BATTERIES, JOE GIBBS RACING [YAHOO CLASS A]
He can be a bit boom or bust at times at Dover, but Busch's upside is off the charts. He was the runner-up here last fall, and he is a two-time winner at the track. For his career, he has 14 top 10s in 23 starts, and he ranks second in laps led and fourth in fastest laps run.
4. MATT KENSETH, #20 DOLLLAR GENERAL/DEWALT, JOE GIBBS RACING [YAHOO CLASS A]
Kenseth offers the combination of reliability and upside that you look for in an A-List pick. He won the May race at the track, and he is a three-time winner here overall. He also has seven top 10s in the last 10 races at Dover, including five finishes of seventh or better in his last six starts.
5. BRAD KESELOWSKI, #2 MILLER LITE, TEAM PENSKE [YAHOO CLASS A]
Dover has become one of Keselowski's stronger tracks. He has seven finishes of 12th or better in the last 10 races, including a win and two second-place finishes. Keselowski led 49 laps and finished sixth in the May race this season, and he has led at least 28 laps in three of the last four races here.
