Cam Brown NYG LB
Dolphins' Cam Brown: Inks deal in Miami
2h agoBrown agreed to a contract with the Dolphins on Wednesday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Brown appeared in 60 career games as a special-teams ace during his first four seasons with the Giants, tallying 24 tackles over that span. The 26-year-old played exclusively on special teams in 16 games during the 2023 campaign, so he'll more than likely fulfill a similar role for Miami in 2024.
-
Justin Murray CLE OT
Justin Murray: Hangs it up
2h agoThe Browns placed Murray on the retired/reserve list Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Murray played for the Raiders, Cardinals, Bills and Titans during his six-year NFL career, appearing in 41 games with 20 starts during his professional tenure. The soon-to-be 31-year-old joined Cleveland's practice squad last November and then signed a futures contract in January, but he never played in any games for the team.

J.K. Dobbins BAL RB
Chargers' J.K. Dobbins: Slated to join Chargers
3h agoDobbins (Achilles) is in line to sign a one-contract with the Chargers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
A second-round pick of the Ravens in 2020, Dobbins had two of his first four pro seasons cut short due to an ACL tear in 2021 and then a torn left Achilles in Week 1 of the 2023 campaign. In his 24 career appearances, he's averaged a robust 5.8 yards on 234 carries, gathered in 27 of 35 targets for 177 yards and scored 13 total touchdowns. Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache penned a letter to NFL teams in late March that Dobbins had received medical clearance to participate in football activities, but his new contract will be contingent on a physical. Once the move west to L.A. becomes official, Dobbins will join forces with former teammate Gus Edwards at the top of the RB depth chart, giving him some sway in fantasy working alongside QB Justin Herbert.

Darius Slayton NYG WR
Giants' Darius Slayton: Seeking new deal
6h agoSlayton (thumb) hasn't reported to the Giants' voluntary workouts while he seeks a contract extension, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Slayton, who led the team with 770 receiving yards in 17 games in 2023, has attended the Giants' voluntary offseason program in the past. The 27-year-old wideout is in line to earn $6.2 million in the final year of his contract in 2024, but Slayton is evidently looking to amend those terms. At this stage, Slayton -- who is recovering from an offseason procedure on his right thumb -- is poised to retain a key role in a Giants wideout corps that currently includes Wan'Dale Robinson and Jalin Hyatt.

Jaelan Phillips MIA LB
Dolphins' Jaelan Phillips: Getting fifth-year option picked up
11h agoGeneral manager Chris Grier said Tuesday that the Dolphins will exericse the fifth-year option on Phillips' (Achilles) rookie contract before May's deadline, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
A torn right Achilles' tendon limited Phillips to just eight games last season, but he's reportedly on track to be ready for Week 1 of the 2024 campaign. He's been one of the Dolphins' more impactful pass rushers over the past three seasons, and the team will be more in need of him than ever with Christian Wilkins having moved on to Las Vegas.
-
De'Von Achane MIA RB
Dolphins' De'Von Achane: Bulks up during offseason
11h agoAchane appears to have added muscle to his frame through his workouts earlier this offseason, Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post reports.
A photo of Achane showing up for OTAs went viral, with some saying he looks much larger than he did during his rookie campaign. It's his second offseason bulking up for football without also considering track and field, though at this point it's unclear how much muscle he's added relative to his weight from the 2023 NFL Combine, where he ran a 4.32-second 40-yard dash at 188 pounds. Achane averaged 7.8 yards per carry and scored a touchdown per game last season, albeit with injuries (six missed games) and Raheem Mostert's presence (209 carries) limiting the rookie to 103 carries and 27 catches in his 11 appearances. The Dolphins still have Mostert under contract -- along with backups Jeff Wilson, Salvon Ahmed (foot) and Chris Brooks -- but they'll presumably prepare Achane with more of the backfield work in his second NFL season.
-
Paul DeJong CHW SS
White Sox's Paul DeJong: Five hits in twin bill
2m agoDeJong went 5-for-6 with a walk, a double and a two-run homer across both games of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Royals.
The veteran shortstop provided Chicago's only runs in Game 1 with a two-run home run during the second inning, and he collected two more singles in the nightcap. DeJong entered the day with a .618 OPS through 13 games this season, but the five-hit barrage raised his season slash line to .275/.293/.600.
-
Zack Littell TB SP
Rays' Zack Littell: Falls shy of quality start
7m agoLittell didn't factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing three runs on eight hits and no walks against the Angels. He struck out seven.
Although Littell didn't walk any batters and yielded merely three runs, he was pulled at 107 pitches without being able to complete six innings. He surrendered his first home run of the campaign, being tagged by Mike Trout for a solo homer in the first inning. Littell boasts a 2.14 ERA with a 22:5 K:BB across 21.0 innings and seems to be building off his 2023 showing with Tampa Bay when he logged a 3-6 record and a 3.93 ERA in 26 appearances (14 starts). He's tentatively scheduled to face the Tigers on Monday.
-
Deivi Garcia CHW RP
White Sox's Deivi Garcia: Picks up rare save
7m agoGarcia earned the save in Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader versus Kansas City after allowing a hit and a walk over two scoreless innings.
Closer Michael Kopech and setup men Jordan Leasure and Steven Wilson all pitched in Wednesday's matinee, and Garcia was called upon for the multi-inning save in Game 2. It's just the second save of Garcia's career, and the scoreless outing brings his ERA down to 7.27 and WHIP to 1.62. The 24-year-old is pitching better of late with four straight scoreless appearances, though he likely has a lot more work to do in order to be in the mix regularly for high-leverage chances.
-
Clay Holmes NYY RP
Yankees' Clay Holmes: Notches seventh save
9m agoHolmes earned the save in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Blue Jays, allowing one hit in a scoreless ninth inning.
Holmes has yet to allow an earned run through nine appearances this year as he improved to 7-for-8 in save chances, tying Kyle Finnegan and Ryan Helsley for the league lead. The 31-year-old Holmes is establishing himself as one of the better closing options in baseball, earning a firm grasp on the ninth-inning job in New York after pitching to sub-two ERAs in each of his previous two campaigns.
-
Hayden Wesneski CHC RP
Cubs' Hayden Wesneski: Earns first win of season
12m agoWesneski (1-0) tossed four scoreless innings of relief to earn the win Wednesday against the Diamondbacks. He allowed just one hit and struck out two.
Wesneski was summoned from Triple-A Iowa earlier in the day, and he quickly made an impact. The righty pitched well for Iowa, posting a 2.53 ERA and 1.18 WHIP over 10.2 innings, and he has a chance to fill a long-relief role with the Cubs moving forward. However, Wesneski will have limited fantasy value unless he's able to enter the rotation at some point, which doesn't seem to be imminent.
-
Reid Detmers LAA SP
Angels' Reid Detmers: Another strong start
14m agoDetmers didn't factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing two runs (one earned) on seven hits and one walk over 5.1 innings against the Rays. He struck out four.
Although Detmers didn't reach seven strikeouts for the first time all season, he surrendered one earned run of fewer for a fourth straight outing. After seeing his K/9 jump up to 10.2 in 2023, Detmers has taken another step forward in the category with an 11.9 K/9 through 22.2 innings. The southpaw is tentatively scheduled to face the Orioles on Monday for his next start.
-
Alex Caruso CHI SG
Bulls' Alex Caruso: Checks back in
21m agoCaruso (foot) has returned to Wednesday's Play-In Tournament game against the Hawks,
Caruso took a brief trip to the locker room late in the first quarter after colliding with Andre Drummond. However, he's checked back into the contest and should be good to go.
-
Jimmy Butler MIA SF
Heat's Jimmy Butler: Undergoing MRI on knee
24m agoButler will have an MRI on Thursday after sustaining a right knee injury during Wednesday's 105-104 Play-In Tournament loss to the 76ers, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports. He played 40 minutes and generated 19 points (5-18 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 7-8 FT), five assists, four rebounds and five steals.
Butler appeared to tweak his knee late in the first quarter after being fouled but remained in the game at less than 100 percent, sporting a noticeable limp at times. Butler was seen wearing a protective knee sleeve post-game and will have more testing done Thursday. The Heat will play in a win-or-go-home matchup Friday night, giving Butler very little time to heal. We should know more about the severity of the injury once the MRI results come back.
-
Alex Caruso CHI SG
Bulls' Alex Caruso: Exits game
33m agoCaruso went back to the locker room during Wednesday's game against the Hawks with what appeared to be a right foot injury, Cody Westerlund of 670TheScore.com reports.
Andre Drummond stepped on Caruso's foot in transition and ran over Caruso at half-court. Caruso quickly removed himself from the game and limped back to the locker room. He should be considered questionable to return.
-
Andre Drummond CHI C
Bulls' Andre Drummond: Set to play against Atlanta
2h agoDrummond (ankle) is available for Wednesday's Play-In Tournament game versus the Hawks, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Drummond has been upgraded from questionable to available Wednesday after missing Chicago's previous three contests with a left ankle sprain. Drummond is averaging 9.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 18.5 minutes across his previous 10 appearances.
-
Javonte Green CHI SG
Bulls' Javonte Green: Headed to bench Wednesday
2h agoGreen will come off the bench for Wednesday's game against the Hawks, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Green started in Chicago's regular-season finale with the Bulls resting some of their main guys, but he'll return to a reserve role Wednesday, so his minutes and value will dip.
-
Bruno Fernando ATL C
Hawks' Bruno Fernando: Back to bench for Play-In
2h agoFernando will come off the bench for Wednesday's Play-In Tournament game against the Bulls, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Fernando drew the start in Game 82 of the regular season but he'll retreat to the second unit with Clint Capela (rest) back in action. While it's assumed Atlanta will trim down their rotation, Fernando should see upwards of 20 minutes Wednesday.
-
Jeff Carter PIT C
Penguins' Jeff Carter: Announces retirement
1h agoCarter told reporters after Wednesday's season finale versus the Islanders that he will retire, Matt Vensel of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Carter scored the last goal of the Penguins' season, giving him 11 goals and 15 points over 72 contests in 2023-24. The 39-year-old center will finish his career with 851 points over 1,321 contests. He played for the Flyers, Blue Jackets, Kings and Penguins over the course of 20 NHL seasons. He also won the Stanley Cup twice with the Kings, as well as a World Junior gold medal in 2005 and an Olympic gold medal in 2014 while representing Canada.
-
Barrett Hayton ARI C
Coyotes' Barrett Hayton: Finishes season on shelf
2h agoHayton (lower body) won't play in Wednesday's season finale versus the Oilers.
Hayon sustained a lower-body injury in mid-March and it ended up bringing his season to an early close. The 23-year-old was limited to 10 points with 66 shots on net and a minus-13 rating in an injury-riddled campaign. Hayton will be in the mix for a top-six role in 2024-25, assuming he can heal up over the offseason.
-
Nick Bjugstad ARI C
Coyotes' Nick Bjugstad: Won't play in finale
2h agoBjugstad (undisclosed) isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's season finale versus the Oilers.
Bjugstad ended up missing the last five games of the campaign. He closes 2023-24 with 45 points, 165 shots on net, 118 hits and a plus-11 rating through 76 appearances. He is under contract for 2024-25, so he should be in contention for a middle-six role next season.
-
Jean-Gabriel Pageau NYI C
Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Exits Wednesday's game
2h agoPageau (undisclosed) exited Wednesday's game versus the Penguins after sustaining an injury in the first period, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
The Islanders are likely taking a cautious approach with the two-way center in the last game before the postseason. Pageau will wrap up the regular season with 33 points while playing in all 82 games for the first time since 2016-17.
-
Adam Erne EDM LW
Oilers' Adam Erne: Rises to NHL
4h agoErne was called up from AHL Bakersfield on Wednesday, Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton reports.
Erne will give the Oilers extra forward depth should they decide to rest additional forwards over the last two games of the season. He previously posted two points and 67 hits over 23 contests at the NHL level this season.
-
Sebastian Aho NYI D
Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Not resting Wednesday
4h agoAho will play Wednesday versus the Penguins, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
Aho was initially slated to be rested for this game, but Anders Lee will now sit out instead. Aho will serve as a seventh defenseman, so it's likely his ice time will be limited anyway.
