It is here! The NHL season has started.  My Pens will start their defense of the Cup. New faces in new places and a lot of money to be won. Teams are all set to launch the season, and I am ready to start helping you win money at NHL DFS. Today is a short slate for Opening Night, but I got you covered. I will give you my 3 TOP guys that you want in your lineups, plus my one Sleeper Special. Then I will list a few guys at each position you will want to look at when filling things in. All my articles come with tons of research in them, and I never suggest a guy that I won't use. So with that said. Let us get this ball rolling.

CAPPY’S CAPPERS (MY TOP 3)

Artemi Panarin – LW/Chi – 6,300 on DK / 7,000 on FD – With his first season in the NHL behind him, Artemi is going to be the Hawks hottest player. Skating with Kane and Anisimov, he will be fire. He scored 77 points in 80 games as a rookie and will look to better that. He has three pts in five games against STL, and I see him continuing to dominate. He should be good for not only one goal but two assists and one of them coming on the power play. He also shoots with ease. He should get you at least six to seven shots in this game as his floor. I like him to be the highest scoring Hawk on the team.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins – C/Edm – 4,900 DK / 5,900 FD – Yes, this is not the name you expect to see from the EDM team. This kid is fire. No one will be on him for sure, as everyone will be on McDavid and Matthews at the C position. Nugent-Hopkins will be on a line with Rookie sensation Jesse Puljujarvi, and they will be the best line on Edm this season, and this night against Calgary.  In 22 games against CGY, RNH has six goals and 11 assists, five points coming on the power play. He also likes to block shots. His line should shine in this game. And RNH will be top scored for EDM this night.

Corey Crawford – G/Chi – 8,200 DK / 8,800 FD – There is a reason Corey is the highest price netminder tonight. He has skills, and a winning record against the Blues, and a stout D in front of him. Stl has fire power and will shot a ton at Crawford, but he should get you the critical Win (12pts) on FD. I see him stopping 38 of 39 shots and getting the win. The first period will dictate the game, but with Chi playing at home, they will have the energy. He is a must have in Cash games, especially on FD where the win is so important.

CAPPY’S SLEEPER

William Nylander – C(FD)-RW(DK)/Toronto – 4,400 DK / 4,100 FD – Sucks that he is different positions on each site, but he is a beast. This kid came on the scene last year like a bullet out of the gun. He thrived in the AHL and translated that in the NHL, if not for an injury that kept him out some games, he would have made a lot of people money. He will be on a line with Matthews, and everyone will be focused on Austin, and Nylander will get you the goal. I project a goal and an assist, and at his price on both sites, he will be fire. A lot will fade him, due to all the other youth players in Toronto, and he will be contrarian. PLAY HIM!

Teams to Stack

Toronto, Edmonton, Chicago

POSITIONAL PLAYS

Centers

Jonathan Toews – 5,900 DK / 7,100 FD – A Steal on DK. Priced too low for his production

Derick Brassard – 6,100 FD / 5,700 DK – Should be part of your Toronto Stack

Artem Anisimov – 4,100 DK / 4,600 FD – Love him with Panarin. Plus he is cheap. Will Produce

Joe Thornton – 5,500 DK / 5,700 FD – His price is criminal on FD.

Wings

Milan Lucic – 5,200 DK / 5,700 FD – Should be right behind RNH in the pecking order.

Jesse Puljujarvi – 3,900 DK / 3,700 FD – Stack with Nugent-Hopkins

Joe Pavelski – 7,200 DK / 7,400 FD – I like SJ in this game and will look to big guns for points.

Patrick Kane – 8,300 DK / 8,500 FD – He can't be stopped, ever, So he should be in your lineups. Pricey, but that is ok, cause he will output and score.

Johnny Gaudreau – 6,900 DK / 7,300 FD – Johnny Hockey is set to have his best season ever. I like stacking him with Brouwer at wing or Monahan at center. But Johnny Hockey is the focal point!

Bobby Ryan – 5,000 DK / 5,100 FD – I love Ryan in this game, and he should be the best player on OTT not named Karlsson.

Defense

Drew Doughty – 5,800 DK / 5,900 FD – With FD taking out the +/- stat, Drew is in play. He should be stout on D, get you a good amount of Blocked shots, plus he should have at least two assists. One on the Power Play

Erik Karlsson – 7,900 DK / 7,000 FD – Erik is just a beast. He will be everywhere, and get you points in multiple categories

Brent Burns – 8,200 DK / 7,500 FD – The Bearded Wonder... See Karlsson for reason

Alec Martinez – 4,400 DK / 4,100 FD – Alec is coming off a career year, and will continue to dominate offensively on the defensive side of the puck. Plus he is a cap saver

Mark Vlasic – 4,900 DK / 4,700 FD – Vlasic is the guy in SJ who is consistent. Great on PK and can move the puck.

Brian Campbell – 4,300 DK / 4,000 FD – Campbell is back with the Hawks, and the guy does not get hurt. Look for him on PP line 2 and PK as well. He can move the puck and get assists. And he is Cheap.

Goalies

Martin Jones – 8,000 DK / 8,600 FD – Martin will prob give up two goals, but should have 40 saves and get the win.

That is it for goalies. I think other than Crawford and Jones, It's hard to judge wins in the other games, plus the Canadian team games should be high scoring, and I don't want a goalie that gives up four goals in the win.

Favorite GPP Line Stack

Pouliot – Nugent-Hopkins – Puljujarvi of Edmonton

Favorite 2 Player Cash Game Stacks

Anisimov-Panarin

Tkachuk-Brouwer

Couture-Pavelski

Vegas Odds

Toronto (+120) – VS – Ottawa (-140) O/U 5 ½

St. Louis (+120) -VS- Chicago (-140) O/U 5

Calgary(+110) – VS – Edmonton(-130) O/U 5 ½

Los Angeles(+110) – VS – San Jose(-130) O/U 5

A betting note: The first few days of the season, Vegas favors the Home Team more often than not. Unless it is an outright horrible team. Also, the Calgary-Edmonton game is more a Pick-Em game. If you are going to do a bit of betting, and go parlays, you will want to do a few cards. Tor/Ott and Calgary/Edm could go either way. I think it is spot on for the win in CHI and SJ. Take that for what it is worth. Also, try to stay away from Juice the first week or so of the season.
