Yahoo: Top 30 Drivers

Joe Gibbs Racing has been the organization to beat most of the 2016 season, and the reminded the rest of the competition in qualifying at Kansas Speedway. Matt Kenseth grabbed the pole for Sunday's Hollywood Casino 400 with a lap of 192.089 mph in the final round, and all five JGR-affiliated cars qualified in the top seven.

Kyle Busch will join Kenseth on the front row, and Carl Edwards and Martin Truex Jr. gave JGR a clean sweep of the first two rows. Alex Bowman, subbing for Dale Earnhardt Jr., broke up the JGR party and completed the top five.

Joey Logano and Kevin Harvick were two other drivers who impressed in qualifying. Both cracked the top five in the first two sessions, but Logano settled for sixth, and Harvick settled for 11th after slipping a bit in the final round.

Historically, starting up front at Kansas has been beneficial. The eventual winner has started in the top 10 in 12 of the 21 races at Kansas, and 18 winners have started in the top 20. Equally as important for DFS NASCAR, a driver starting in the top five has led more than 100 laps in four of the last five races at Kansas.

With the starting lineup for Sunday's Hollywood Casino 400 locked in, let's take a closer look at some of the drivers to target when building your DFS NASCAR lineups. Don't forget to check out the action from Kansas Sunday at 2:00 p.m. ET on NBC.

Must-Own Drivers

Martin Truex Jr. ($11,100)

Truex has been an absolute stud at 1.5-mile tracks this year, leading by far the most laps of any driver. He has also been a stud at Kansas, and he led a race-high 172 laps here in May. After securing a top five starting spot, it could be another dominating afternoon for Truex. He is one of the best bets to finish as the top scorer.

Jimmie Johnson ($10,600)

He has caught fire since the Chase began, leading more than 90 laps in three of the four races. Johnson has also been excellent at Kansas, winning three times and ranking in the top two in both laps led and fastest laps run. He starts back in 21st, and while that puts him at a bit of a disadvantage when it comes to leading laps, it gives him plenty of upside through place differential. He is an ideal option to build around in cash games.

Matt Kenseth ($8,700)

Kenseth led the most laps at Kansas last fall, and after snagging the pole for Sunday's race, a repeat performance could be on tap. He is no stranger to dominating at Kansas, ranking first in laps led and winning twice. He has the potential to be the steal of the weekend.

Value Plays

Kasey Kahne ($8,500)

He is the hottest driver not in the Chase, reeling off eight straight top 15s heading into Sunday's race. Meanwhile, his 9.3 average finish in the last ten races at Kansas ranks fifth in the series. Kahne qualified 20th, so if his hot streak continues, he will easily eclipse 40 fantasy points by the time place differential is factored.

Jamie McMurray ($7,900)

McMurray hasn't wowed at Kansas by any means, but after qualifying outside the top 20, he is worth considering. He has a 15.7 average finish for the year, including a 14.6 average finish at 1.5-mile ovals. If he just has an average run, he will flirt with 40 fantasy points for a midrange price.

Aric Almirola ($6,800)

After qualifying way back in 35th, Almirola is a borderline must-play driver in cash games. He rolls into Sunday's race in the strength of three straight top 20s, and he has five top 20s in his last seven starts at Kansas, including four finishes of 11th or better. Almirola should be one of the bigger movers, and an impressive point total could be on tap by the time place differential is factored.

Trevor Bayne ($6,600)

His numbers at Kansas aren't anything special, but Bayne did finish 18th here last fall, and he has delivered a few top 20 runs at 1.5-mile ovals this year. He qualified 25th, so he is going to add to his final score through place differential if he has a solid run. Keep Bayne in mind when hunting for low-priced drivers to gamble.

Chris Buescher ($6,000)

He is coming off a respectable 16th-place run at Charlotte, and Buescher did manage to sneak into the top 25 at Kansas back in May. He starts back in 30th, so at the very least, he should gain a handful of spots. Buescher is a relatively low-risk, low-priced option, and 30-plus fantasy points aren't out of the question.

Sleeper Special

Brian Scott ($5,200)

Scott has logged back-to-back top 25 finishes entering Sunday's race at Kansas, and he has finished 12th and 22nd in two starts at the track. He finished with a +6 place differential in the May race here, and after qualifying 32nd, he should once again have a solid place differential. Scott could provide a decent point total while freeing up a ton of cap space.
