Welcome to Cappy’s Scouting the NHL article on today's short slate of NHL action. Yesterday's write up helped our members win a good amount of money in the huge world of NHL DFS. The one thing about today's slate is ownership is going to be high, even on the lower end guys. With only two games to choose and four teams to choose from, value is going to be slim pickings. The biggest advice I can give you is to go light today. Do not go all in thinking you have an advantage because it is a small slate. If you do gpp games today, do single entry. The big bankroll guys will flood all the multi-entry games and cover every possible outcome. It is best to stick to a single entry for a better chance to cash out, and also single entry cash games. With that said, I am going to work on finding you some plays in this short slate and help you cash out tonight.
Mika Zibanejad - Center - (5900 FD / 5600 DK) - Mika and his Rangers will be hosting the Red Wings tonight, and this is a great game to target. The Red Wings are worst in the NHL against the center position. Mika’s price for his production is low. In three games this season so far, Mika has four points (one goal / three assists). He should see a lot of action tonight against a Wings team that is already 0-2 on the road and have given up a total of ten goals in those two games.
Chris Kreider - Wing - (6500 FD / 5700 DK) - It seems that DK is pricing the Rangers a bit low. Chris has been a beast since the season has started. In only three games he has six points (three goals / three assists) and 18 total shots on net in those three games. He should be in play tonight but expect high ownership.
Dustin Byfuglien - Defense - (6500 FD / 6900 DK) - It is not normal that a defensive player makes my list, but in a short slate, Dustin is worth a top play. Dustin is averaging close to 30 minutes on the ice per game. In a game where offense should be high, Dustin is the perfect player as he can score on the man advantage, will take a ton of shots, and will block shots. I will have good exposure to him tonight.
Capper’s Sleeper Special
Nazem Kadri - Center - (5700 FD / 5300 DK) - I realize the Nazem is a bit of a headcase, but he is a streaky player. You won't hear his name for a few games, then all the sudden he scores two goals, and no one has him. I feel as if tonight will be that night. In ten career games against Winnipeg, Nazem has seven total points (two goals / five assists). Although he is the Leafs third line center, he is on the top powerplay unit. He will be a very sneaky play tonight, as everyone will be on the Leafs top players.
**Players that are in bold I will have in most of my double up and 50/50 cash games**
Mark Scheifele - 7100 FD / 7100 DK
Auston Matthews - 6100 FD / 6300 DK
Derek Stepan - 6500 FD / 5500 DK
Mathieu Perreault - 4600 FD / 4400 DK
Alex Burmistrov - **Wing on FD - Center On DK** - 3400 FD / 3000 DK
Blake Wheeler - 7500 FD / 7400 DK
Patrick Laine - 4000 FD / 5600 DK - Good value on FD. Underpriced
William Nylander - 4600 FD / 5300 DK
Mats Zuccarello - 5900 FD / 6000 DK
Rick Nash - 6400 FD / 6100 DK
Drew Stafford - 3900 FD / 4200 DK
Dylan Larkin - 5200 FD / 5900 DK - Listed as a Center on DK
Ryan McDonagh - 5100 FD / 4900 DK
Nikita Zaitsev - 3600 FD / 3600 DK
Jacob Trouba - 4200 FD / Not listed on DK for some reason
Kevin Klein - 3800 FD / 3400 DK
Henrik Lundqvist - 9100 FD / 8500 DK - This is the only goalie I am even considering playing. Either goalie from the Toronto/Winnipeg game is a coin flip, and Henrik is the chalk without question. Feel free to take a flier on any netminder, but Henrik has the best chance at the win. In ten career games against the Red Wings, Henrik has five wins with three of those wins being shutouts and he carries a .932 save percentage against the wings.
**If for some reason Raanta is in net, he is a great pivot and should have the same outcome as Lundqvist**
