Scouting The NHL DFS - Thursday, November 3

Scout Fantasy continues to expand its Fantasy coverage and now with a PREMIUM membership, you earn access to Cappy's NHL DFS picks all season long!

First off I would like to Congratulate the Chicago Cubs for winning the World Series, nice to get that monkey off your back. Now that the MLB season is over, it is time for everyone to come to the NHL and build their bankrolls. What better way to start then a nice 12 game slate, where we can build some killer lineups. Time to go glove side and put the biscuit in the basket.

Cappy's Cappers

Auston Matthews - Center - ($6100 FD / $7200 DK) - Auston burst on the scene with an opening night four-goal showing, that was an NHL first. In his last four games, Auston has been very quiet, and a lot of people will fade him because of this. What I like about him tonight, is that all but one goal has come on the road, and his Maple Leafs head to Buffalo to play a Sabers team that has been a bit tough as of late. I love the Matthews line tonight to factor into a lot of scoring and shots. He gets two goals, and two assists with five shots and one blocked shot.

Filip Forsberg - Wing - ($6600 FD / $5900 DK) - Filip has been very silent in the goal scoring this season, as he has yet to get one. The Predators and Filip travel to Arizona to take on a Coyotes team that will allow him to score his first one of the season, and possibly his second. In six career games against the Yotes, Filip has three goals and four assists, with three of his assists coming on the power play. Use his line with confidence tonight, as they will man-handle the Yotes all night.

Alexander Ovechkin - Wing -  ($8100 FD / $8200 DK) - Ovie and his Caps finally get to come home, after a rough three-game road trip through Canada. Ovie gets to take on a Winnipeg Jets team that is full of more questions than answers. Ovie loves playing the Jets as he has 85 points (43 goals / 42 assists) in 60 career games against them. Tonight, Ovie scores a hat trick (three goals), and get two assists. He will be the highest scoring Player in the NHL tonight, and you will want him on your team. I will have him everywhere.

Super-Sleeper Pick

Nikita Soshnikov - Wing - ($3300 FD / $3500 DK) - Soshnikov finally got into his first game of the season and made people that played him happily. He had an assist, three shots on net, and got you 12.8 pts on FD. Figure it: that is 4x his value. Soshnikov was amazing last year when the Leafs called him up as part of their youth injection. He got dinged up at the end of the season, and he went forgotten. I see Soshnikov being on the ice for about 12 minutes tonight, but he will make every minute count and score a goal, get an assist, five shots on net, and two blocked shots.

Games To Target

I will point out three games you will want to target when building your lines. This is not to say, you will want to make all your plays from these three games, but your core should come from at least one of the three.

Toronto (+113) vs. Buffalo (-125)

William Nylander - Wing - ($5100 FD / $5900 DK) - Top line wing, pair with Matthews

Zach Hyman - Wing - ($3500 FD / $3400 DK) - Cheap exposure to top line

Nazem Kadri - Center - ($6200 FD / $5000 DK) - Too cheap on DK, take advantage

Tyler Bozak - Center - ($4200 FD / $4100 DK)

Mitch Marner - Wing - ($4300 FD / $4600 DK) - Pair with Bozak

Nakita Zaitsev - Defense - ($3500 FD / $3800 DK) - Cheap defensive exposure

Kyle Okposo - Wing - ($6100 FD / $5700 DK) - Sabers best player

Ryan O'Reilly - Center - ($5900 FD / $6600 DK) - Pair with Okposo

Brian Gionta - Wing - ($4500 FD / $3700 DK) - Second line wing, priced to low

Zemgus Girgensons - Center - ($3200 FD / $3600) - Listed as center but playing wing

Rasmus Ristolainen - Defense - ($4800 FD / $5600 DK) - Cheap on FD

Winnipeg (+200) vs. Washington (-220)

Nick Backstrom - Center - ($6100 FD / $5900 DK) - Pair with Ovie

Evgeny Kuznetsov - Center - ($6100 FD / $6200 DK) - Second line center

Marcus Johansson - Wing - ($5400 FD / $4700 DK) - Pair with Kuznetsov

Andre Burakovsky - Wing - ($4300 FD / $4400 DK) - On third line, but should move to second

John Carlson - Defense - ($5900 FD / $5800 DK) - Powerplay and shot block monster

Mark Scheifele - Center - ($7000 FD /  $7100 DK) - High priced, but can score

Blake Wheeler - Wing - ($$7200 FD / $6600 DK) - Pair with Scheifele

Patrick Laine - Wing - ($5200 FD / $6700 DK) - Can't avoid his skills

Dustin Byfuglien - Defense - ($6400 FD / $6200 DK) - Love his game, great stand alone.

Nashville (-150) vs. Arizona (+130)

Ryan Johansen - Center - ($6100 FD / $5500 DK) - Pair with Forsberg and/or Neal

James Neal - Wing - ($6700 FD / $5700 DK) - Pair with Forsberg and/or Johansen.

Mike Ribeiro - Center - ($3900 FD / $3900 DK)

Craig Smith - Wing - ($5200 FD / $4600 DK) - Pair with Ribeiro

PK Subban - Defense - ($6600 FD / $6300 DK) - Can not overlook his game. Great play on power play top unit.

Roman Josi - Defense - ($6800 FD / $6300 DK) - Same as Subban

**I am not targeting anyone on Arizona. Maybe Oliver Ekman-Larsson**

Goalies

**As always check before puck drop to see starting goalies, as things change**

Braden Holtby - ($9600 FD / $8300 DK) - Braden is one of the best when it comes to shutting down teams, and stealing wins. In his career he is 9-3-1 with two shutouts against the Jets. He has won his last two starts, with an average of 1.50 goals per game given up. His price is a bit high, but with the amount of games tonight, you can fit him in with some creative line making.

Pekka Rinne - ($8800 FD / $7700 DK) - I love Pekka tonight, and he will be in most of my lineups. Huge favorite to win this evening, and can pitch a shutout while facing about 28 shots on net. In 23 career games against the Coyotes, Pekka has six shutouts in 15 of his wins. His price will allow you higher end plays while giving you the decisive 12 point win on FanDuel.

Jake Allen - ($8500 FD / $7600 DK) - Like Pekka, Jake is my other go-to goalie. He faces a Dallas Stars team that averages 2.22 goals per game. I don't see Jake having too much of a problem in beating a Stars team; that had one good game out of its last six. Don't let the last game the Stars played, fool you. The Blues will not overlook them.

Favorite Line Stack: Ovechkin-Backstrom-William (Washington Top Line)

Favorite GPP Line Stack: Palat-Stamkos-Kucherov (Tampa Top Line. This game will be low owned)
