Scouting The NHL DFS - Wednesday, November 16

Good afternoon Scout Army! I hope everyone did well last night. I was able to hit all my cash games on Draftkings and a few on Fanduel. In one of my cash games on FanDuel, I had Dell in net, who got the loss but got 21 points and still helped me hit in a 50/50. Also, my super sleeper from yesterday (Anthony Mantha), ended up with 10.1 points on FanDuel which was 2.5x his value at less than 1% owned. I digress, let's move on to today and look at this huge two-game slate the NHL has given us. As a die-hard Pittsburgh Penguins fan, tonight Wednesday night rivalry game against the Washington Capitals is a must watch for me. The other game on Tap is the Arizona Coyotes heading north of the border to take on the Calgary Flames. And that is it. Lol. This write up will be short and sweet, as with only two games, chalk will be an understatement, and you don't want to try to overthink a two-game slate. Also, today is a good day to play GPP games, as cash lineups will easily place in a GPP on a shot slate. So let's have our rivalry and blast the doors off this old barn.

Cappy's Cappers

Evgeni Malkin - Center - ($8200 FD / $7100 DK) - The game against the Capitals tonight is touted as Sidney Crosby vs. Alex Ovechkin, and everyone forgets about Geno. Not me, as I have seen almost every single game these two play each other in, and Geno steps up. He loves to show up fellow countryman Ovechkin, and his ownership will be lower than Sids. In 33 career games against the Caps, Geno has 12 goals and 35 assists for over 1 point per game average. In those 33 games, he also has amassed 133 shots on net. He is a beast and seems to find a new gear when it comes to the caps. I will have more exposure to Geno then Sid, as everyone will want to be on Sid, and the Capitals will do all they can to frustrate him. They know a Mad Geno is bad for them, so once they frustrate Geno, all bets are off and he will bury them on the score sheet.

Max Domi - Wing - ($5500 FD / $4600 DK) - To be honest I do not know what to think about the Arizona Coyotes when you think they should get destroyed they win, then when you think it will be close, they get blown out. I am on Domi tonight due to the fact, he is starting to heat up and turn heads. He is currently on a near one point per game pace and fires the puck at the net. Going against a Flames team that is just having issues on the defensive side of the puck, I am rolling out Domi tonight with the expectations he repeats his performance against the Avalanche last Tuesday and score me a Goal, get two assists and one of his assists coming on the power play.

Mark Giordano - Defense - ($6300 FD / $6000 DK) -  Giordano finally broke a nine-game scoring drought with an assist in the game last night against the Minnesota Wild. He is averaging close to four shots per game and is a power play machine. I think this is going to be a very chippy game, with a lot of penalties called. This will up Giordano's value as he can score from the point or half-wall and also move the puck up the ice. I will have him where I can fit him, depending on the lineup. But I love his play tonight.

Cappy's Super Sleeper

Bryan Rust - Wing - ($3600 FD / $3500 DK) - Rust was recently reunited with Malkin and Kunitz on the Penguins second line, and it paid off. In his first game on this line, against Toronto, he netted a goal and assisted on another one. He blasted six shots (a season-high) on the net, and was, for the most part, left alone as the teams focused on Malkin and Kunitz. I love Rust tonight because he is a gritty player that will push the Caps around and sit in front of the net and block Braden Holtby all night. I can see two goals, one being a re-direct, one assist and another six shots on net. Again, on a night where everyone will be on the Top line of the Pens and the Caps, it will be the second line that will shine.

Games To Target

OK, this is a very short slate. So you can target all games and both sides of each game. I am not going to sit here and list a ton of players to consider, or play.

Pittsburgh - All three of their lines are in play tonight, but I am more on the second line of Kunitz-Malkin-Rust, then the other two lines. Also in play is Letang on defense as he is a hybrid defensive player with above average offensive skills.

Washington - The top two lines of the Caps are in play, with a flier on their third line. I am not highly impressed with their defense, as far as DFS value goes. Ovies line will create havoc and Ovie himself is a tower of a man and will throw his body around.

Arizona - It looks like the Coyotes may be getting back their top netminder in Mike Smith, as the Coyotes sent backup netminder Justin Peters back to his AHL team yesterday. So keep an eye open for that. It is so hard to target their team, due to no one knows who they are and what they are about. It seems a different line steps up each night. Oliver Ekman-Larsson is always a great play as he is one of their, or not their, best player on the team.

Calgary - The Flames may be without the services of Johnny Gaudreau, as he took a vicious slash to his arm/wrist area in last night's game. Keep an eye on the news to see if he plays. I like the Flames top two lines, and as I mentioned up above Giordano on defense.

**As always check before puck drop to see starting goalies, as things change**

Top Goalies

The only goalie I am considering is whichever one starts for the Penguins. If it is Murray, I like him the most tonight. He is 4-0 since his return from the DL and will beat the caps.

Mike Smith - Worth a flier in GPPs.

Favorite Line Stack: Kunitz - Malkin - Rust (Pittsburgh second Line)

Favorite GPP Low-Owned Line Stack: Domi - Hanzel - Vrbata (Arizona first line)
