First off I have to start this write-up with a big Congratulations to Kicks son and his Hockey Team's big win on Sunday. With that said, I am going to channel my inner-kick and help you all win some money tonight. The NHL has followed a nice seven-game slate, with an even better five-game slate this evening. Kick and I have been on a streak and have helped our scout family win nightly. I am going to do my best to keep that streak alive. Speaking of streaks, it's too damn cold outside, so keep your clothes on. Let us drop the puck on this slate and shut out the competition.
Nick Bjugstad - Center - ($5300 FD / $4300 DK) - Bjugstad will be making his long-awaited season debut tonight. He has been out since suffering a hand injury and had yet to see any action this season. I am going to be all over him tonight, as I think he comes out firing. A former first round pick (2010), Bjugstad has a ton of talent, and the Panthers will surely be happy to have him back on the ice. I can see him making noise and getting you two goals and two assists while taking five shots on goal and getting a blocked shot.
Jakob Silfverberg - Wing - ($5600 FD / $5400 DK) - Silfverberg and his Ducks host the New York Islanders, in what should be a great game. The Islanders come in with way too many questions in net, and neither Halak or Greiss can give a good answer. In his last five games, Silfverberg has three goals and five assists, and he is just getting started. Since being called out by some local beat writers, Silfverberg has made them eat their words. He will score tonight, and he will score fast. I project him to have two goals an assist while compiling a team-high seven shots on net. His line will be a great play in any GPP format and should go lower owned. Use him now and thank me tomorrow
James van Riemsdyk- Wing - ($7300 FD / $6000 DK) - Draftkings must have something wrong with their pricing structure, and well their mistake is your gain. Jump on him now, while Draftkings is pricing him so low, considering his production. He has four goals and two assists in his last three games and has eight goals on the season. He is heating up, which is awful news for opposing goaltenders. The Leafs host the Hurricanes, and I do not think the Canes will be able to handle the pressure. I will have exposure to JVR and his linemates in most all of my GPP lineups, and some of my 10x and 5x lineups on the cash game side. I suggest you do the same, as the Leafs can easily score five or six goals in this game. JVR will have a goal, two assists, and five shots on net.
Cappy's Super Sleeper
Phillip Danault - Wing - ($3500 FD / $2800 DK) - Danault has been on both the third and fourth line for the Canadiens this season, and all he does is grind out great gameplay. He is not a pure goal scorer by any means, but what he does do, is that he blocks shots, takes shots, and chips in on the goal scoring. This is a pure gut feeling play on my part, as I feel he will have a career game tonight. I can see a goal, and one assist, four shots on net, and four blocked shots. He can hit 10x value tonight without any issues.
Games To Target
I will be listing the teams you want to target in this slate with a little info on each team. These will be teams to consider in your core lineup highly.
Toronto Maple Leafs - I, like most everyone, will be on the line of van Riemsdyk-Bozak-Marner, but in all reality, all of the Leafs lines are in play. For a great GPP play, look no further than the third line of Komarov-Kadri-Brown. They will be the overlooked line of this evening. I love love love Zaitsev and Polak on defense.
Florida Panthers - The Panthers will be low owned tonight as most will be in Toronto. Philly does have a good team, and Mason has been playing well, but I think the Panthers will take advantage of them and own this game. I like any of their top three lines, and also as a power play stack, and I don't generally recommend that. Ekblad is an amazing player and will do you well in your lineup.
Montreal Canadiens - The Habs do not give up goals as they lead the NHL in that category with giving up 1.87 goals per game. What they do is they score them. For a while, they were tops in the NHL with over four goals a game. They have come down to earth a bit, but they will bury Ottawa in a hole they won't get out of. Their top two lines are in play big time as is Price in net.
Philadelphia Flyers - I know I said that the Panthers would take advantage of the Flyers, but the Panthers are not exactly a defensive juggernaut. The Flyers are big and strong and can score, so much so they score at the tune of 3.16 goals per game, while the Panthers give up 2.63 per game. This game shapes up to be a high-scoring combined game. The top two lines of the Flyers are in play in both GPP and Cash games. I would avoid both goalies in this game, as it is possible neither make it through the entire game. Look for Gostisbehere to open up the scoring in this game.
Anaheim Ducks - Anaheim is starting to put things together, and if thinks click they can be a force. I feel they are a good team to have exposure to. I love Fowler, Vatanen, and Lindholm as a stand-alone defense.
**As always check before puck drop to see starting goalies, as things change**
I will list a few goalies and if you want them in cash, gpp, or both.
Carey Price - Cash/ GPP (If you can get funky with your team to fit him in a gpp)
John Gibson - Cash
Tuukka Rask - Cash/GPP
Frederik Andersen - GPP
Craig Anderson - GPP (If you feel that Montreal will overlook this game and get surprised)
