Wow, I can not believe that it is already the month of December. This NHL season has been one for the ages. The youth was taking over to start the season, and now the stars stepping up to show everyone why they are stars. The NHL is giving us a small slate of only three games tonight. This is a night that taking a shot at a small gpp is worth it. Getting sneaky tonight is not the best way to go. I suggest you go 70% chalk 30% contrarian. Time to do a triple deke and put one in the upper corner and score some cash.
Max Pacioretty - Wing - ($6800 FD / $6800 DK)
Pacioretty and his Canadians are one if the elite teams this season and he is on pace for a 30-goal season. The Canadians head to San Jose, and I think Max makes a huge statement this game. He will have two goals and two assists with six shots on goal and two blocked shots
Jason Pominville - Wing - ($4800 FD / $4300 DK)
The Minnesota Wild have surprised the NHL this year with a high powered offense and stout goaltending. Pominville has two goals and an assist in his last two games and is silently starting to heat up. I'm getting on this train early as he will start to take over. Look for a goal and an assist with four shots on net.
Joe Pavelski -Wing- ($7800 FD / $7400 DK)
I know a lot of people will fade San Jose do to Price being in net, but he has cooled off a bit as of late. In his last five, Pavelski has a goal and three assists, with an average of three shots on net. I like his line to hit the scoresheet early and often. Great in cash and gpp play.
Cappy's Super Sleeper
Joonas Donskoi - Wing - ($4100 FD / $3800 DK)
Donskoi is in his second season and has underwhelmed thus far. He has done better when given play on the top six and second power play unit. His name kept jumping out at me, so I'm taking him. I can see a goal and an assist with four shots on goal. His Goal will come on the power play. Pure GPP play.
Games To Target
I will be listing the teams you want to target in this slate with a little info on each team.
Montreal - I truly like both sides of this game, but leaning toward the Canadiens more. Their top two lines are great for cash and gpp and a flier on their third line. Even doing a powerplay stack could work well. Weber and Emlin are my favorite defense tonight.
San Jose - As I mentioned I love both sides of this game. San Jose is not the highest scoring team in the NHL (20th in NHL at 2.64 goals per game, but they do step up against the elite. The top two lines in play on both cash and GPP. Love Burns, if you can afford him, but Vlasic is a nice pivot.
Minnesota - The Wild are the 10th best team in the NHL in goals for at 2.62 per game, while the Flames give up near three goals a game. All three lines for the Wild are in play, and I love Suter and Brodin on defense.
**As always check before puck drop to see starting goalies, as things change**
I will list a few goalies and if you want them in cash, gpp, or both.
Dubnyk - Cash/GPP
Price - Cash/GPP
Dell or Jones - GPP
