Today the NHL gives us a split slate, but I will be focused on the main slate of games. This should be a fun night of hockey with a few upsets and a few blowouts. So let's jump over the board and change our fortunes.
Sidney Crosby - Center - ($9200 FD / $8700 DK) - Crosby is on a whole different sheet of ice this season. He has 16 goals and nine assists in only 18 games played. The Penguins host the Red Wings tonight, and this matchup has become a mini-rivalry of sorts. In his last five, Crosby has four goals and five assists. Tonight Crosby will summon his inner demons and destroy the wings. He will be all over the score sheets and will score the game winning goal.
Alexander Steen - Wing (fd)Center(dk)- ($5900 FD / $5700 DK) - Steen and his Blues host a high-powered Jets team tonight in what should be a fun game. In his last game, Steen had three assists and has 11 on the season. Although listed as a wing on DK, he is a second line center, and I love his line tonight. A goal and two assists are possible for Steen tonight.
Nazem Kadri -Center- ($6600 FD / $5800 DK) - On a team full of young stars with a lot of hype, Kadri has been quietly holding his own. With three goals and one assist in his last five, Nazem has been fire. I will have a lot if exposure to his line tonight in most of my gpp games. He will have a goal and an assist with four shots on goal.
Cappy's Super Sleeper
Denis Malgin - Center - ($3600 FD / $3300 DK) - On a team filled with stars, future hall of famers, and breakout players, Malgin has kept his play elevated. He and his Panthers head into Ottawa to play a stingy Senators team. Malgin is in the top 15 for rookie goal scorers and only needs one goal to move into the top ten. I can see him doing that tonight along with getting three shots on net, and one blocked shot. Great gpp flier and cap saver. He may see time on second power play unit as well.
Games To Target
I will be listing the teams you want to target in this slate with a little info on each team.
Pittsburgh - The Pens are in the middle of the playoff hunt, and tonight face a Red Wings team without their best goalie. Crosby and his line will be chalk, and the second line with Malkin and Kessel are in play as well. Letang is a great play on Defense, but I love Cole for his cap saving and high upside.
St. Louis - The Blues have been an up and down team this season, but historically find a new gear in December. Other than my top pick, the Blues top line is in play. This could be a statement game for Tarasenko as well. Shattenkirk and Parayko great plays on defense.
Florida - A lot of people will be off the Panthers due to their lackluster play, but I feel like they pick it up tonight. Look for the top line to score two goals and their third line to chip in as well. Love Yandle tonight as one of my top defensive plays.
I will list three teams to target in gpp only play.
Columbus - Granted a bulk of scoring has come at home, I still like them in gpp play against a lowly Coyotes team
Washington - The Caps are full of Firepower, but the lightning play them tough, and their prices are a bit high. But still worth a gpp play
Edmonton/Anaheim - Both teams in this game are good for GPP. I think the Ducks pull out a 4-3 win but don't shy away from some fliers and cap savers from this game.
**As always check before puck drop to see starting goalies, as things change**
I will list a few goalies and if you want them in cash, gpp, or both.
Matt Murray - GPP
Roberto Luongo - Cash/GPP
Frederick Anderson - GPP
Sergei Bobrovsky - Cash/GPP
Carter Hutton - GPP only
