Kerby Joseph DET DB
Lions' Kerby Joseph: Out until training camp
2h agoJoseph (arm) will not be cleared to practice until training camp, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.
Joseph suffered the injury during the NFC Championship Game against the 49ers, though the nature and seriousness of the issue had not been previously disclosed. Assuming he returns to health in time to begin the 2024 campaign, Joseph figures to serve as Detroit's starting free safety and is likely to rack up tackles and pass breakups.

Coy Cronk MIN OL
Coy Cronk: Let go by Minnesota
5h agoThe Vikings waived Cronk (undisclosed) with a non-football injury designation on Thursday.
The 26-year-old offensive lineman went undrafted out of Iowa in 2021, and his most recent in-game action came back in 2022 with the Jaguars. It's unclear what Cronk's injury is, but he'll remain a free agent while he recovers from his unspecified issue.

Kenyon Green HOU OT
Texans' Kenyon Green: Competing for starting role
5h agoTexans' GM Nick Caserio told reporters Thursday that Green (shoulder) must earn his starting spot as the offseason progresses, Cole Thompson of USA Today reports.
Green sustained a shoulder injury during the Texans' preseason finale that forced him to miss the entire 2023 season, but his rehab process has been going well and he could partake in voluntary offseason workouts this week. Once he's able to return to the field, the 2022 first-round pick is expected to compete with Kendrick Green for Houston's top left guard position.

Demetrius Taylor 2005 DL
Demetrius Taylor: Reinstated by NFL
6h agoThe NFL reinstated Taylor from suspension Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
The 24-year-old defensive lineman has been reinstated after serving a one-year suspension for violating the league's gambling policy. Taylor has appeared in just one game and played 13 snaps across his NFL career, but he's now available to try and make his return to the field.
-
Rashod Berry IND DE
Rashod Berry: Reinstated from suspension
6h agoThe NFL reinstated Berry from suspension Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Berry was waived by the Colts shortly after receiving his one-year suspension for violating the NFL's gambling policy last offseason, but he's now been reinstated. During his two seasons in Indianapolis, the 27-year-old appeared in just eight games and recorded four total tackles. Now that he's been reinstated, Berry will attempt to make another roster this offseason.

C.J. Moore DET DB
C.J. Moore: Reinstated by NFL
6h agoThe NFL reinstated Moore from suspension Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Moore was suspended for violating the league's gambling policy last offseason, but he's now been reinstated by the NFL. The 28-year-old appeared in 56 games from 2019-2022, racking up 48 total tackles while primarily contributing on special teams. Detroit parted ways with Moore shortly after his suspension, so he's free to sign with any team now that he's reinstated.

Ryne Nelson ARI SP
Diamondbacks' Ryne Nelson: Early exit
37m agoNelson was forced to leave Thursday's start against the Giants after taking a comebacker to his right wrist in the second inning, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.
Nelson worked two scoreless innings while allowing two hits before exiting. The nature of the injury is currently unclear, though he'll likely undergo an MRI or X-ray to determine the severity of the damage.
-
Trevor Story BOS SS
Red Sox's Trevor Story: Shifts to 60-day injured list
41m agoStory (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Thursday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.
The move was strictly procedural, as Story has already been ruled out for the rest of the 2024 season. The transaction opened a 40-man roster spot for the newly acquired Vladimir Gutierrez.
-
Marc Church TEX RP
Rangers' Marc Church: Sidelined by shoulder strain
1h agoChurch was placed on the 7-day injured list with a right shoulder strain Thursday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Church was in the running for a spot in the big-league bullpen during spring training, though he was ultimately optioned to the minors. Since, he's allowed two earned runs across 4.2 innings while posting a 5:3 K:BB with Triple-A Round Rock. It's unclear how long Church will be sidelined.
-
Tyler Alexander TB RP
Rays' Tyler Alexander: Starting Friday
1h agoAlexander will start Friday against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Alexander has shifted between a bulk relief and a traditional starting role. It appears he's in line for the latter Friday, and he should have no limitations after working six innings in his last appearance, which came against San Francisco on Sunday.
-
Walker Buehler LAD SP
Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Underwhelming rehab appearance
2h agoBuehler (elbow) allowed two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out three across 2.2 innings in a rehab outing with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
Buehler was expected to throw between 80 and 90 pitches, though his struggles with control limited the length of his outing. He particularly struggled with his offspeed and breaking pitches, as he threw 15 combined curveballs and sliders -- only two of which went for strikes. Though the outing wasn't positive, it could come as some consolation that this was Buehler's first time pitching with an automated strike zone, per the Director of Communications Oklahoma City, Alex Freedman. It's possible that this was Buehler's final rehab outing before rejoining the big-league rotation, but the Dodgers are expected to assess the situation before making a final decision.
-
Jonah Heim TEX C
Rangers' Jonah Heim: Launches homer in win
2h agoHeim went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 9-7 win over Detroit.
Heim extended a hit streak to six games with a second-inning homer to put the Rangers up, 4-0. The catcher has launched three home runs with 15 RBI (third on team) over 17 games. Heim's batting .348 (8-for-23) with runners in scoring position.

Wesley Matthews ATL SG
Hawks' Wesley Matthews: Logs 10 minutes in elimination game
4h agoMatthews (hamstring) tallied zero points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt) and one assist in 10 minutes Wednesday in the Hawks' 131-116 loss to the Bulls in the Eastern Conference Play-In Tournament.
Matthews missed the Hawks' final three games of the regular season with hamstring tightness, but he was able to make it back for what ended up being the team's lone postseason contest. The 37-year-old was an irregular member of the Atlanta rotation in 2023-24, appearing in 36 regular-season contests (three starts) while averaging 3.1 points, 1.5 rebounds, 0.7 three-pointers and 0.6 assists in 11.5 minutes while shooting 35.1 percent from the field. Matthews is scheduled for free agency this summer and could be headed for retirement.

Kawhi Leonard LAC SF
Clippers' Kawhi Leonard: Considered questionable for Game 1
5h agoLeonard (knee) is questionable for Sunday's Game 1 against the Mavericks, Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.com reports.
The Clippers announced Thursday that Leonard received an injection in his left knee, and there's "cautious optimism" that he'll be ready for Sunday's matchup, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. While Leonard returned to practice Monday, he hasn't yet been cleared for 5-on-5 drills. Clippers president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank said Thursday that he isn't sure whether Leonard will need to participate in full-contact work before he's cleared to return to game action but said that the inflammation needs to continue to reduce. Lawrence said that he's hopeful the issue is trending in the right direction and that Leonard will play but also indicated that the 32-year-old's status remains up in the air.
-
Alex Caruso CHI SG
Bulls' Alex Caruso: Likely to be game-time decision
6h agoCaruso (ankle), who is questionable for Friday's Play-In Game against the Heat, underwent further evaluation Thursday that revealed reduced swelling, creating increased optimism that he'll be available for the win-or-go-home matchup against Miami, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Wojnarowski reported Wednesday night that Caruso had sustained a "significant" left ankle sprain Wednesday against Atlanta that put his availability for Friday's matchup in doubt. However, the 30-year-old appears to be trending in the right direction and will likely be a game-time decision as the Bulls attempt to secure the No. 8 seed in the playoffs. If Caruso is unavailable against Miami, Javonte Green, Torrey Craig and Dalen Terry could see additional playing time.
-
Duncan Robinson MIA SG
Heat's Duncan Robinson: Probable for Friday
6h agoRobinson (back) is probable for Friday's Play-In Game against the Bulls, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Robinson missed the final four games of the regular season due to his back injury, and although he was available for Wednesday's Play-In Tournament matchup against the 76ers, he didn't see any playing time. It appears likely that he'll be able to suit up again Friday, and he could see some minutes since Jimmy Butler (knee) has been ruled out.
-
Terry Rozier MIA SG
Heat's Terry Rozier: Remains out for Friday
6h agoRozier (neck) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Bulls.
Rozier, who will miss a sixth straight contest, has been diagnosed with a neck sprain rather than neck spasms, so it seems the injury is more severe than initially expected. The loss of Rozier will be huge for the Heat, and it will translate in a higher usage rate for Tyler Herro, while there will be more minutes available for Patty Mills and possibly Delon Wright.
-
Jimmy Butler MIA SF
Heat's Jimmy Butler: Officially has sprained MCL
6h agoThe Heat announced Thursday that Butler has been diagnosed with a sprained MCL and will miss several weeks, Tim Reynolds of Associated Press reports.
Butler suffered his right knee injury late in the first quarter of Wednesday's Play-In Game loss to the 76ers, but he remained in the game down the stretch despite a limp. However, the injury is significant enough to sideline him for multiple weeks, so even if the Heat take down the Bulls on Friday, it seems unlikely that Butler will be in the mix to return during a first-round series against Boston. Jaime Jaquez will likely take on a starting role in Butler's absence, while Haywood Highsmith and Caleb Martin could also see additional playing time.
-
Reese Johnson CHI RW
Blackhawks' Reese Johnson: Officially finishes season hurt
1h agoJohnson (concussion) won't play in the Blackhawks' season finale Thursday versus the Kings, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Johnson has been out since March 12, resulting in a 16-game absence to end the campaign. The 25-year-old forward had five points, 109 hits and 40 PIM over 42 appearances this season. He is set to be a restricted free agent this summer.
-
Nikita Zaitsev CHI D
Blackhawks' Nikita Zaitsev: Not suiting up
1h agoZaitsev (illness) is not in the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Kings, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Zaitsev's absence will force the Blackhawks to dress 13 forwards and five defensemen for a full game roster. The 32-year-old blueliner ended up with seven points, 69 hits, 70 blocked shots and a minus-5 rating over 38 appearances with the Blackhawks this season.
-
Cam Talbot LA G
Kings' Cam Talbot: In goal Thursday
1h agoTalbot will protect the home goal versus the Blackhawks on Thursday, Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site reports.
Talbot has gone 3-3-0 with 16 goals allowed over six contests in April. The 36-year-old is likely getting the start Thursday since the Kings need a win to have a chance at the No. 3 seed in the Pacific Division. Talbot figures to be the Kings' starter in the postseason as well, and he'll have a favorable matchup Thursday to grab positive momentum.
-
Max Jones ANA LW
Ducks' Max Jones: Still out to end campaign
1h agoJones (upper body) won't play in Thursday's season finale versus the Golden Knights.
Jones ended up missing the final 11 contests of the campaign. The 26-year-old winger had 15 points, 125 hits, 76 shots on net and 33 PIM in 52 appearances this season. Jones is set to be a restricted free agent this summer.
-
Pavel Mintyukov ANA D
Ducks' Pavel Mintyukov: Ends season on shelf
1h agoMintyukov (lower body) won't play in the Ducks' season finale versus the Golden Knights on Thursday.
The lower-body injury ended Mintyukov's season early, as the rookie defenseman missed the final eight games. He had 28 points, 85 hits, 65 blocked shots and a minus-20 rating over 63 appearances. Mintyukov should be in line for a top-four role in 2024-25, assuming he recovers from the injury in the offseason.
-
Mason McTavish ANA C
Ducks' Mason McTavish: Officially finishes season injured
1h agoMcTavish (knee) won't play in the Ducks' season finale versus the Golden Knights on Thursday.
McTavish was spotted in a knee brace last week, and he wasn't able to shake off the injury in time to return. The center had 42 points, 130 shots on net, 67 hits and 86 PIM over 64 appearances. As long as he doesn't need surgery, he should have a good chance to be ready for the start of 2024-25.
