Many people have completed their Fantasy Football seasons, but there are still some that play in Week 17. It's a tricky week because a lot of players from playoff teams will rest if their teams have nothing to play for and teams out of contention may limit players with injuries or take a look at younger players. The AFC field is set with the Patriots, Raiders, Steelers, Texans, Chiefs and Dolphins. The Lions, Packers, Redskins, and Buccaneers are battling for two spots in the NFC. The Cowboys, Falcons, Seahawks and Giants have clinched. Make sure you follow all the news up until game time on Sunday and spend whatever you need to get the players below.
These recommendations are based on a 12-team league using a $1,000 budget.
TOM SAVAGE – HOUSTON TEXANS - $100
Savage looked terrible against the Bengals, but they are a good defense. The Texans could rest starters with them being locked in as the fourth seed in the NFC, but they should want to get Savage more reps and confidence heading into the postseason. The Titans have been awful against quarterbacks and were eliminated. How bad are the Titans? They just allowed Blake Bortles to pass for 325 yards in Week 16.
ALFRED BLUE – HOUSTON TEXANS – $200
Lamar Miller has already said he is not sure if he will play this week and players tend to be optimistic. Miller has been banged up for most of the season and played through it until last week when he aggravated an ankle injury in Week 15 and missed Week 16. It makes no sense for the Texans to play Miller, so expect Blue to start. Blue had 21 carries for 73 yards with a touchdown and four catches for 17 yards against the Bengals.http://www.scout.com/player/85326-jacquizz-rodgers?s=532
JACQUIZZ RODGERS – TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS – $200
Rodgers could be in line for a lot of touches in Week 17. Doug Martin was a surprise healthy inactive, and if that continues this week, Rodgers should see the most touches. If Martin didn't play in a must-win last week, it would appear he won't play a big role this week with the Buccaneers clinging to a slim chance at the playoffs. Dirk Koetter had Rodgers in Atlanta and clearly, likes him a lot. Rodgers, who played 62 percent of the snaps, had 15 carries for 63 yards with a touchdown and caught two passes for 15 yards last week against the Saints.http://www.scout.com/player/164884-alex-collins?s=532
ALEX COLLINS – SEATTLE SEAHAWKS – $200
This recommendation comes down to the status of Thomas Rawls, who left last week with a shoulder injury. Collins came in and rushed for 28 yards on seven carries and caught four passes for 19 yards. If Collins gets the start, he gets the best matchup a running back can ask for against the 49ers, who have allowed the most Fantasy points to running backs, including nine rushing touchdowns the last four games.http://www.scout.com/player/197120-zach-zenner?s=532
ZACH ZENNER – DETROIT LIONS – $150
Zenner's value depends on the status of Theo Riddick, who missed another game in Week 16 due to a wrist injury. If Riddick returns this week against the Packers, then Zenner won't be recommended. Zenner had 12 carries for 67 yards and two touchdowns and caught two passes for 25 yards against the Cowboys Monday night.http://www.scout.com/player/55775-darren-mcfadden?s=532
DARREN MCFADDEN – DALLAS COWBOYS – $150
McFadden would become more appealing if we knew for sure that Ezekiel Elliott would be out or very limited. The Cowboys have said they won't rest their starters, but I expect that to change. Elliott had 12 carries in Week 16 and sat the fourth quarter. McFadden had 14 carries for 49 yards against the Lions in Week 16. McFadden rushed for 1,089 yards behind this line last year.
Others to consider: Mike Gillislee, BUF – $75, Shaun Draughn, SF – $60, Rex Burkhead, CIN – $30, DeAndre Washington, OAK – $30, Jalen Richard, OAK – $30, Fitzgerald Toussaint PIT – $25, Ronnie
ADAM THIELEN – MINNESOTA VIKINGS – $350
Thielen had a zero in Week 15 after injuring his neck. He came through in a huge way for anyone that used him in Week 16 with 12 catches for 202 yards and two touchdowns on 15 targets against the Packers. Before Week 15, he had six straight games with at least 10 points in PPR formats.http://www.scout.com/player/136313-jamarcus-nelson?s=532
J.J. NELSON – ARIZONA CARDINALS – $150
Nelson has become a key piece of the offense with 18 targets the last two games. Nelson has scored in four straight games. He had seven targets against the Seahawks on Saturday and caught three passes for 132 yards with a score and plays at the Rams this week.http://www.scout.com/player/106290-paul-richardson?s=532
PAUL RICHARDSON – SEATTLE SEAHAWKS – $150
Richardson will see more snaps with Tyler Lockett out for the season. Richardson has speed and was a second round pick in 2014. He had five targets against the Cardinals and caught four passes for 42 yards with a touchdown. He has a great matchup against the 49ers and the Seahawks still have a shot at the No. 2 seed in the NFC.http://www.scout.com/player/199723-eli-rogers?s=532
ELI ROGERS – PITTSBURGH STEELERS – $125
Rogers saw a bigger role in Week 16 with Sammie Coates and Ladarius Green out. Rogers might see fewer reps if the Steelers decide to rest some players, so pay attention to the news. Rogers had four catches for 84 yards on five targets last week.
Others to consider: Will Fuller, HOU – $20, Kenny Stills, MIA – $20
CHARLES CLAY – BUFFALO BILLS – $150
Injuries have slowed Clay most of the season, and he came to play in a major way the last three games. He has at least 14 points in PPR formats in three straight games. Clay had eight catches for 85 yards with two touchdowns on ten targets against the Dolphins in Week 16. He has four touchdowns the last three weeks and faces the Jets in Week 17. The Jets have allowed six touchdowns to tight ends the last four games.
