Two nights in a row our top picks have hit for us. I am aiming for three straight days. Tonight the NHL gives us a huge 11 game slate. To say the least, it was hard trying to figure out the top three. There were so many to choose from, and I feel the three I took will pay off. Plus I have a huge sleeper pick surprise. A pick I have yet to do this season, but I feel really good about it. Time to jump in and hit some milestones of our own.
Mr. Pucks’ Profound Three
I was asked if these are three players people should use. What I suggest is building around at least one of my three choices. Let us take a look at my top three.
Connor McDavid (Edm) - Center - ($8700 FD / $8000 DK)
I think McDavid has lived up to the hype of being the next Crosby. Like Crosby/Ovechkin he too has a forced rivalry with Jack Eichel of Buffalo. McDavid has 42 points (13 goals / 39 assists) this season and has accumulated 102 shots in 36 games. In four career games against the Kings, Mcdavid has a goal and two assists. More off, twice this season he has played a game after three or more days off, in those two games he has two goals and one assist. I see two goals tonight, as I expect Zatkoff to be in net, and he is a bum.
Artemi Panarin (Chi) - Wing - ($7800 FD / $7100 DK)
Word on the street is that Panarin and the Blackhawks have agreed to a contract extension for two years worth $12 million. What better way to celebrate than have the game of your life. Panarin is currently on an eight-game scoring streak, where he has five goals and nine assists. In 16 road games this season, the Breadman has eight goals and 11 assists. I like him for a huge game, like three goals and two assists type game. That's his ceiling. One goal and one assist his floor. Use wisely tonight, as he will pay off for us.
Brad Marchand (Bos) - Wing - ($6700 FD / $6300 DK)
Marchand and his Bruins head into Buffalo to take on a Sabres team that is third worst in the NHL when it comes to stopping the wing position. I think his Bruins dispatch of the undersized Sabres rather easily, and Marchand has a goal and two assists with four shots on net.
Mr. Pucks’ Sleeper play of the night
Kristers Gudlevskis (TB) - Goalie - ($7100 FD / $7000 DK)
With the injury to Ben Bishop, Kristers has a chance to prove himself ready. In my eyes, he is the heir apparent to the Lightnings starting crease. He is the only player to have played in the ECHL, AHL, NHL, Olympic Games, and IIHF World Championships in the same season. He was the 124th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and has moved up the ranks quickly. He has a chance tonight to do something he did when he was called up to the AHL in 2013, win his first start for the next level. He has a tough contest against the Leafs, but his youth and technical ability can overcome some of the Lightning's poor defense. I am predicting 34 saves on 36 shots and the win. Verify he is starting
Teams To Target
A few teams to target and build your lineups around.
***Due to time I'm just going to list the teams to target in your lineups.***
Boston Bruins - Top two lines
Edmonton Oilers - Top line, Russell on defense
Minnesota Wild - Top two lines, any defender
Tampa Bay Lightning - Top line
Chicago Blackhawks - Top two lines
Dallas Stars - GPP Only - Top two lines
Florida Panthers - 3rd Line. Yandle on defense
Montreal Canadiens - Top two lines, Weber on defense
New York Rangers - Top 3 lines.
**As always check before puck drop to see starting goalies, as things change**
I will list a few goalies and if you want them in cash, gpp, or both.
Dubnyk - Cash/GPP - Has won his last nine games.
Crawford - GPP - 3-2 in his last five
Raanta - GPP/Cash - Should do well against NHL second worst scoring team.
Bobrovsky - GPP - Has won 11 straight.
Rask - Cash/GPP - Risky, but should shut down Buffalo. He is 2-0 vs. Buffalo this season.
Johnson - GPP - 6-4 in last ten starts
Montoya - GPP - Contrarian play
Gudlevskis - GPP Only
Gibson - GPP
Pickard - GPP only
Lehtonen/Niemi - GPP only
Mr. Pucks High Risk/ High Reward GPP Lineup
This is a risky lineup, which if it hits, has a high return. I would only suggest you use this in any GPP that you enter multiple lineups in. I do not suggest it be your main lineup. This IS NOT my main lineup. I do not make any claims that this lineup will hit.
***Lineups may change based on final lines before puck drop. Will update on forums if anything changes***
Bold Denotes my top 3 and sleeper picks.
C - Bergeron
C - McDavid
W - Bjugstad
W - Panarian
W - Marchand
D - Russell
D - Scandella
G - Gudlevskis
U - Bourque (Use anyone you like. Gut feeling on him for me.)
In this DK lineup, I am banking on Gudlevskis to have a monster game and be under 3% owned. Plus the Leafs are 1-6 on Back to Backs this season. I'm also banking high output from my offense and my defense to pitch in with 4 to 8 points. I'm also expecting Bjugstad to continue his dominance against the Canadians. He has four career goals, tied for second most against any team he has played. He has scored 53 or his 118 career points at home.
Bold denotes my top picks and sleeper picks from above.
C - McDavid
C - Anisimov
W - Panarian
W - Lucic
W - Lehkonen
W - Parise
D - Russell
D - Brodin
G - Gudlevskis
As above, I'm taking a huge risk in net, but with that risk, it opens me up to a high-end offense. For Defense, I am playing the plus/minus odds with Minnesota and consistency with Russell. For the offense, I'm doing two mini stacks with huge potential. My two stand alone players show high upside with minimal risk.
