Scouting The NHL DFS - Tuesday, January 31

Increase your bankroll on DraftKings and FanDuel with Mr. Pucks' NHL DFS Breakdown!

Thank god the NHL is back. I missed my hockey, so much so I was playing NBA dfs. Tonight we are treated with a huge 14 game slate. This is the kind of night that paylines should be low. With so many players to choose from, building a solid lineup will be fun. I suggest sticking to Single Entry or Three Entry max games. Unless you want to flood the quarter arcade or something. Lol. Let us jump in.

Mr. Pucks Profound Three

I was asked if these are three players people should use. What I suggest is building around at least one of my three choices. Let us take a look at my top three.

Anze Kopitar (LA) - Center - ($7000 FD / $5300 DK)

I don't think anyone will be on Kopitar as he could be a sleeper pick based on that alone. He does have a goal and an assist in his last two games. He needed this break to re-focus and is known to have a strong second half. He gets a Arizona team that has been playing well, but won't contain Kopitar. He has a point per game (59 points in 59 career games) against the yotes. His last game versus them he had two assists. I see him getting a goal and an assist tonight while taking three shots on net. Based on price he is a steal on Draftkings.

Max Pacioretty (Mon) -Wing- ($7500 FD /$6800 DK)

Patches has been DFS gold since the start of December. He is on pace for 34 goals this season, which will be his third highest total in his career. Tonight he gets a Sabres team, that like Arizona; is playing well. Tonight though will be a Canadiens showcase. Patches is almost a must play in my eyes. He should be good for a goal and an assist.

Filip Forsberg (Nas) -Wing- ($7400 FD / $5600 DK)

Being a Pens fan, this was hard for me to do; pick against my team. The thing that stands out, is that the Pens are 30th in the NHL against the Left Wing position. With five goals and an assist in his last five, Filip is starting to heat up. I think tonight he leads his team to victory. I foresee him getting a goal and two assists and taking a team high seven shots on net.

Mr. Pucks’ Sleeper play of the night

Matt Puemple (NYR) - Wing - ($3600 FD / $3500 DK)

Puemple had missed some time in January due to a concussion, but if you look at his last five games played he has been gold. With four goals and two assists in his last five, he exceeded value each time. Tonight he gets a tough Blue Jackets team that will overlook him. Pay attention to lines to make sure he is playing. All he needs is a shot and an assist to exceed value. I see that plus a goal tonight. Pure GPP play, or cap saver in cash.

Teams To Target

A few teams to target and build your lineups around.

LA Kings - Love the top two lines in this game. Third line will be sneaky. Muzzin an Forbort on defense.

Montreal Canadiens - Patches line all day long. Top two lines will bring the offense. Weber, Petry and Beaulieu on defense.

Pittsburgh Penguins - Top three lines will dominate this game. Like Schultz and Cole on defense.

Buffalo Sabres - The top line should be your focal if you target this team. Third line if you want to be sneaky. Ristolainen on defense.

Chicago Blackhawks - Top two lines in play. 3rd line for sneaky gpp play. Keith on defense

Nashville Predators - This game will be fun. Top two lines could dominate, also consider Neal in a revenge game returning to Pittsburgh. Subban or Ekholm on defense.

Other teams to consider - Washington, Carolina, Boston, Tampa Bay, Columbus.

**As always check before puck drop to see starting goalies, as things change**
