Josiah Deguara GB TE
Jaguars' Josiah Deguara: Inking with Jacksonville
1h agoThe Jaguars are slated to sign Deguara to a one-year contract, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports.
Deguara spent the last four seasons handling a depth role in Green Bay, where he was drafted in the third round back in 2020. His versatility both as a blocker and on special teams will boost his chances of earning playing time behind Evan Engram, but Deguara peaked with a 25-245-2 receiving line in 2021 and doesn't appear to have much fantasy potential.

J.K. Dobbins BAL RB
J.K. Dobbins: Lines up AFC West visit
3h agoDobbins (Achilles) is visiting the Chargers on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Dobbins, who was recently medically cleared for football activities, is coming off a left Achilles tear after previously missing all of 2021 and about half of the 2022 season due to a torn ACL and proceeding issues. That medical history undercuts otherwise impressive career numbers for Dobbins, who has averaged 5.8 yards per carry and scored 13 touchdowns since entering the NFL in 2020 as a second-round pick by the Ravens, but only suited up for 24 games in that span. Reuniting with offensive coordinator Greg Roman could make the most sense as a landing spot for Dobbins, but it's possible he doesn't garner more interest than a potential prove-it deal. The Chargers signed Gus Edwards,a former Baltimore backfield mate of Dobbins, early in free agency.

Derek Stingley Jr. HOU CB
Texans' Derek Stingley: Slow start, strong finish
3h agoStingley recorded 39 tackles, 13 passes defensed and five interceptions over 11 regular-season games in 2023.
Stingley, a second-year cornerback and 2022 first-round draft pick, suffered a Week 3 hamstring that created issues for the defense early on, but upon his return Week 10, Stingley made an impact. He had interceptions in three straight games, including a Week 13 win over the Broncos. Stingley will return as Houston's top cornerback in 2024.

DeAndre Houston-Carson HOU DB
DeAndre Houston-Carson: Enters free agency
3h agoHouston-Carson recorded 41 tackles, five passes defensed, two interceptions and one fumble recovery over 13 regular-season games in 2023.
Houston-Carson started the season in Baltimore then finished up in Houston, where he played a career-high 447 snaps on defense. Injuries on the back end led to Houston-Carson playing a big role for the Texans, including two pivotal plays in a Week 10 win over the Bengals. He entered unrestricted free agency during the offseason.
-
Jimmie Ward HOU SAF
Texans' Jimmie Ward: Injury-marred 2023
3h agoWard (quadriceps) recorded 50 tackles, three passes defensed, one interception and one forced fumble over 10 games in 2023.
Ward, a team captain, was beset by injuries all season long. He missed time due to hip, hamstring and shoulder injuries before a quadricep ended his season in December. In between the setbacks, Ward played well, and his one interception was an end-zone pick that sealed a win over Denver. Houston went 6-4 in games he played and could use his stabilizing presence on the back end. Ward turns 33 in July and will be entering his 11th season.

Henry To'oTo'o HOU LB
Texans' Henry To'oTo'o: Contributes in rookie season
3h agoTo'oTo'o recorded 61 tackles, two passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery over 15 regular-season games in 2023.
To'oTo'o, a fifth-round draft pick out of Alabama, started from Week 2 to Week 7 and played in both of Houston's playoff games during his rookie season. The Texans lost two linebackers to free agency -- Blake Cashman and Denzel Perryman -- which leaves To'oTo'o as a projected starter for 2024. However, Houston is expected to address the position during the offseason.

Manuel Margot MIN CF
Twins' Manuel Margot: In lineup at designated hitter
9m agoMargot is starting at designated hitter and batting ninth for the Twins in Thursday's opener versus the Royals.
The Twins got Margot to play against left-handed pitching, so it's no surprise he's in there against southpaw Cole Ragans, though it's a bit of a surprise he's at DH and not playing the outfield. Margot had to exit hit final exhibition game after being hit on the hand by a pitch, but he's fine.

Jordan Romano TOR RP
Blue Jays' Jordan Romano: Likely facing minimum IL stint
13m agoRomano (elbow) isn't expected to need much time to build back up once he's cleared to start throwing off a mound again, and Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins believes the right-hander will only need a minimum stay on the injured list, Gregor Chisholm of the Toronto Star reports.
The Toronto closer was given an anti-inflammatory injection early last week after an MRI on his elbow showed no structural issues. A backdated placement on the IL for Romano and a minimum 15-day stay could have him back in the Jays bullpen as early as April 9 against the Mariners. In the right-hander's absence, Yimi Garcia, Chad Green and Tim Mayza are all candidates to handle save chances.
-
Matt Wallner MIN LF
Twins' Matt Wallner: Out of lineup versus lefty
13m agoWallner is out of the lineup for Thursday's season opener in Kansas City.
With the Royals going with lefty Cole Ragans on the bump, Wallner will yield to Willi Castro in left field. Wallner is slated to be the club's regular left fielder versus right-handed pitching.
-
Alex Kirilloff MIN 1B
Twins' Alex Kirilloff: Takes seat against lefty
14m agoKirilloff isout of the lineup for Thursday's season opener against the Royals.
The Twins are going with Manuel Margot at designated hitter as the Royals throw left-hander Cole Ragans. Kirilloff is in line to be the team's primary DH versus right-handed pitching.
-
Kyle Farmer MIN 3B
Twins' Kyle Farmer: Getting start against southpaw
16m agoFarmer is starting at second base and batting seventh for the Twins in Thursday's opener versus the Royals.
Farmer gets the nod at the keystone with the Royals starting southpaw Cole Ragans. The 33-year-old had a .781 OPS against left-handed pitching last season for Minnesota.
-
Edouard Julien MIN 2B
Twins' Edouard Julien: On bench versus lefty
19m agoJulien is out of the lineup for Thursday's season opener in Kansas City.
The Royals are throwing left-hander Cole Ragans, so Juilen will yield to the right-handed hitting Kyle Farmer at second base. While it might be be a strict platoon at the keystone, Julien seems likely to be on the bench at least against tougher southpaws like Ragans.
-
Lindy Waters III OKC SG
Thunder's Lindy Waters: Sent back to G League
8m agoThe Thunder assigned Waters to the G League's Oklahoma City Blue, Clemente Almanza of USA Today reports.
Waters continues to bounce back and forth between the NBA and G League. However, he should see increased playing time with the Blue.
-
Mark Williams CHA C
Hornets' Mark Williams: Unlikely to play again in 2023-24
8m agoThe Hornets haven't officially shut Williams (back) down for the season, but the second-year center isn't expected to play again during the 2023-24 campaign, Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Updates on Williams' status have been few and far between since he made his last appearance Dec. 8 before being shut down with what the Hornets initially listed as a lower back contusion. The Hornets' latest injury report has referred to his ongoing absence being the result of "low back injury recovery," and the team hasn't provided any concrete information regarding what kind of activity Williams is doing as part of his rehab program. Though the Hornets haven't officially made an announcement on shutting Williams down for the season like they have with LaMelo Ball (ankle), Cody Martin (ankle) and Seth Curry (ankle) within the past two days, fantasy managers in redraft leagues who have been holding Williams amid his prolonged absence can feel comfortable cutting bait at this point. Nick Richards has since taken over as the Hornets' starting center, with Grant Williams and Aleksej Pokusevski serving as Richards' primary backup options.
-
Xavier Tillman BOS C
Celtics' Xavier Tillman: Participates in shootaround
14m agoTillman (knee) was active in shootaround ahead of Thursday's game versus the Hawks, Bobby Manning of CelticsBlog reports.
Tillman is officially listed as questionable for Thursday's contest due to left knee inflammation. However, Tillman's participation in shootaround is a good sign of his availability against Atlanta.
-
Jrue Holiday BOS PG
Celtics' Jrue Holiday: Active during shootaround
17m agoHoliday (shoulder) is officially listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Hawks, but he was active during Boston's morning shootaround.
Holiday has missed five straight contests due to a right shoulder sprain but is nearing a return to game action. If he's cleared, Holiday should start, as he hasn't come off the bench yet as a Celtic, but may face some limitations given his lengthy absence.
-
Cody Martin CHA SF
Hornets' Cody Martin: Shut down for rest of season
24m agoHornets head coach Steve Clifford confirmed Wednesday that Martin (ankle) has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign, Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports. "Those two guys are not going to be able to come back," Clifford said of Martin and Seth Curry (ankle). "And it doesn't mean we can't play well. It doesn't mean we can't be proud of how we play. But that's just where we are at. Listen, it's not ideal."
Within the past two days, the Hornets have elected to shut down Martin, Curry and LaMelo Ball (ankle) for the season while all three have already missed extended time with ankle injuries, and Boone relays that center Mark Williams' (back) season is most likely over as well. Martin appeared in 28 games (22 starts) this season and averaged 7.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.0 three-pointers in 26.9 minutes per game. Martin has played in just 35 games the last two seasons due to injuries but has one more guaranteed year on the four-year contract he signed in July 2022, so he should be back in Charlotte for the 2024-25 season.
-
Seth Curry CHA SG
Hornets' Seth Curry: Out for remainder of season
25m agoHornets head coach Steve Clifford said Wednesday that Curry (ankle) won't return this season, Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports. "Those two guys are not going to be able to come back," Clifford said of Curry and Cody Martin (ankle). "And it doesn't mean we can't play well. It doesn't mean we can't be proud of how we play. But that's just where we are at. Listen, it's not ideal."
Curry hasn't played since March 1 due to a right ankle sprain and will be shut down for good. After coming over from Dallas in a Feb. 8 trade, Curry appeared in eight games for Charlotte and averaged 9.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 three-pointers in 19.8 minutes while shooting 44.1 percent from the field and 32.1 percent from downtown. The 33-year-old shooting guard will enter the second season of a two-year, $8 million deal in 2024-25, though his salary doesn't become fully guaranteed until one day before the 2024 NBA Draft.
-
Samuel Ersson PHI G
Flyers' Samuel Ersson: Starting Thursday
8m agoErsson will patrol the visiting crease in Montreal on Thursday.
Ersson's play has been spotty over the last seven games, as he is 3-2-2 with a 4.16 GAA and an .861 save percentage. He is 21-14-7 with three shutouts this season. Ersson picked up the win in his only appearance this season versus the Canadiens, giving up two goals on 19 shots in a 3-2 shootout victory.
-
Morgan Rielly TOR D
Maple Leafs' Morgan Rielly: Won't play Thursday
12m agoRielly (upper body) will not be available against Washington on Thursday, David Alter of The Hockey News reports.
Rielly will be shelved for his second consecutive contest due to his upper-body injury, though he continues to be classified as day-to-day. Conor Timmins should continue to see opportunities with the No. 2 power-play unit while Rielly and Joel Edmundson (undisclosed) are sidelined.
-
Auston Matthews TOR C
Maple Leafs' Auston Matthews: Game-time decision Thursday
15m agoMatthews missed morning practice with an illness, according to Mark Masters of TSN, and will be a game-time decision Thursday versus Washington.
Matthews is on a five-game point streak in which he has four goals and 11 points. He leads the NHL with 59 goals and has 93 points in 70 games this season. Matthews had a huge game versus Washington on March 20, scoring a pair of goals and adding three assists. Check ahead of game-time for Matthews' status.
-
Jonah Gadjovich FLA LW
Panthers' Jonah Gadjovich: Remains unavailable
16m agoGadjovich (undisclosed) will not be in the lineup against the Islanders on Thursday, Jameson Olive of the Panthers' official site reports.
Gadjovich is stuck in a 10-game pointless streak dating back to Feb. 14 against the Penguins. Even once cleared to play, the 25-year-old winger could find himself serving as a healthy scratch frequently. As such, Gadjovich shouldn't be expected to offer much in the way of fantasy value.
-
Aaron Ekblad FLA D
Panthers' Aaron Ekblad: Returning to action Thursday
25m agoEkblad (lower body) will be back in the lineup versus the Islanders on Thursday, according to George Richards of Florida Hockey Now.
Ekblad sat out seven games with the injury. Ekblad missed the first 16 games of the season, recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, and has struggled offensively. The 28-year-old blueliner has only four goals and 17 points in 47 games. If he is unable to pick up the pace, he will miss hitting double digits in goals for only the second time in 10 years. Ekblad will line up alongside Gustav Forsling on the blue line and should see some second-unit power-play time.
-
Alex Nedeljkovic PIT G
Penguins' Alex Nedeljkovic: First goalie off Thursday
42m agoNedeljkovic was the first goalie to leave the ice Thursday, Wes Crosby of NHL.com reports, indicating he'll be in goal at home versus Columbus.
Nedeljkovic will be making his third straight start, coming off a 38-save victory over the Hurricanes on Tuesday. For the year, the 28-year-old Ohio native is sporting an 11-6-5 record to go with a 2.91 GAA and .906 save percentage. A strong finish to the season should help Nedeljkovic's chances of securing a more long-term contract this offseason after playing this year on a one-year deal.
