Darius Slayton NYG WR
Giants' Darius Slayton: Seeking new deal
2h agoSlayton (thumb) -- who is reportedly seeking a contract extension -- hasn't reported to the Giants' voluntary workouts, Jordan Raanan of ESPN reports.
The report notes that Slayton, who led the team with 770 receiving yards (on 50 catches) in 17-regular season games in 2023, has attended the Giants' voluntary offseason program in the past. The 27-year-old wideout is in line to earn $6.2 million in the final year of his contract with New York this coming season, but evidently Slayton is looking to amend those terms. At this stage, the 2019 fifth-rounder -- who is bouncing back from an offseason procedure on his right thumb -- is poised to retain a key role in a Giants' WR corps that also currently includes Wan'Dale Robinson and Jalin Hyatt, with further depth likely to arrive via the upcoming NFL draft.

Jaelan Phillips MIA LB
Dolphins' Jaelan Phillips: Set for fifth-year option
6h agoThe Dolphins plan to pick up the fifth-year contract option of Phillips (Achilles) before May's deadline, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN reports.
General manager Chris Grier said Tuesday that Miami intends to pick up the fifth-year options of both Phillips and Jaylen Waddle. A right Achilles tear limited Phillips to just eight games last season, but he's reportedly on track to be ready for Week 1 of the 2024 campaign. He's been one of the Dolphins' more impactful pass rushers over the past three seasons, and the team will be more in need of those talents than ever with Christian Wilkins having moved on to Las Vegas.

De'Von Achane MIA RB
Dolphins' De'Von Achane: Bulks up during offseason
6h agoAchane looks more muscular after working out this offseason, Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post reports.
A photo of Achane showing up for OTAs went viral, with some saying he looks much larger than he did during his rookie campaign. It's his second offseason bulking up for football without also considering track and field, though at this point it's unclear how much he's added relative to his weight from the 2023 NFL Combine (where he ran a 4.32 40-yard dash at 188 pounds). Achane averaged 7.8 yards per carry and scored a TD per game last season, albeit with injuries (six missed games) and Raheem Mostert's presence (209 carries) limiting the rookie to 103 carries and 27 catches in his 11 appearances. The Dolphins still have Mostert under contract -- along with backups Jeff Wilson, Salvon Ahmed (foot) and Chris Brooks -- but they'll presumably task Achane with more of the backfield work in his second pro season.

Royce Freeman LAR RB
Cowboys' Royce Freeman: Picked up by Dallas
22h agoFreeman signed a one-year contract with the Cowboys on Tuesday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
Freeman spent his first three seasons with the Broncos before stops with the Panthers, Texans and Rams the last three years. The journeyman tallied 319 yards and two touchdowns on the ground in Los Angeles last year across 14 games. Dallas lost Tony Pollard to free agency, so its running back room currently consists of Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn (ankle), Malik Davis, Snoop Conner and Freeman. Freeman could get an opportunity to carve out a role for himself, but the Cowboys still seem likely to invest in the position during the 2024 Draft.

Trent Taylor CHI WR
49ers' Trent Taylor: Returns to Bay Area
1d agoTaylor signed a one-year contract with the 49ers on Tuesday, Lindsey Pallares of the team's official site reports.
Taylor started his career in San Francisco before a two-year stay with the Bengals, and he spent the 2023 campaign with the Bears. The 29-year-old will have the opportunity to earn a role in the return game with the Niners after the departure of Ray-Ray McCloud in free agency this offseason.
-
Trent Taylor CHI WR
Trent Taylor: Could return to Bay Area
1d agoTaylor has talked to the 49ers about a potential return to the team, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Taylor was selected by San Francisco in the fifth round of the 2017 Draft and spent three seasons there before stops in Cincinnati and Chicago. The 49ers do currently have a void in their return game, with Ray-Ray McCloud now in Atlanta, which is likely where the interest in Taylor lies.

Masataka Yoshida BOS DH
Red Sox's Masataka Yoshida: Resting Wednesday
2m agoYoshida isn't in the Red Sox's lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.
Yoshida will get a chance to clear his head Wednesday after going 0-for-10 across the first two games of the series. His absence will move Rafael Devers into the DH spot while Pablo Reyes starts at third base and bats eighth.
-
Brady Singer KC SP
Royals' Brady Singer: Gives up two in no-decision
4m agoSinger did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the White Sox, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out five.
All of the damage against Singer came on Paul DeJong's two-run homer in the second inning. The right-hander hadn't given up more than a single run in three starts prior to Wednesday -- Singer's now allowed four runs in 23.1 innings this season, all coming via the home-run ball. Overall, he's 2-0 with a 1.54 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 23:7 K:BB. Singer's next start is tentatively scheduled for early next week against Toronto.
-
Reese McGuire BOS C
Red Sox's Reese McGuire: Sitting Wednesday
5m agoMcGuire isn't in Boston's lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.
McGuire is just 2-for-13 across his last five games, so he'll sit out Wednesday while Connor Wong starts behind the plate and bats sixth.
-
Brandon Drury LAA 2B
Angels' Brandon Drury: Won't start Wednesday, Thursday
8m agoDrury won't start and will only be available to pinch hit Wednesday and Thursday against the Rays due to left hamstring tightness, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Drury may still be used as supplementary help with batting, but he will miss his third straight start come Thursday. Though his ability to still pinch hit if necessary is encouraging, the Angels are being cautious with the 31-year-old's hamstring issue, and it is still unknown if he will return to the field Friday against the Reds.
-
Michael Kopech CHW RP
White Sox's Michael Kopech: Takes loss, blown save vs. Royals
10m agoKopech (0-2) blew a save and ultimately took the loss in Wednesday's opening game against Kansas City, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out one.
Called upon to protect a one-run lead in the eighth inning, Kopech gave up a one-out single to Bobby Witt before Salvador Perez launched a two-run homer, sticking Kopech with his first blown save and the loss. The right-hander has already earned a pair of multi-inning saves this season, so it's likely this was Chicago's intention again Wednesday. Overall, Kopech is 2-for-3 in save chances this year with a 3.48 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 15:6 K:BB through his first 10.1 innings.
-
Jonathan Cannon CHW SP
White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Solid in debut
19m agoCannon did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Royals, allowing one run on three hits and a walk while striking out three over five innings.
Cannon turned in a strong effort in his first Major League appearance, holding Kansas City to a lone run in the second inning. The 23-year-old right-hander won't offer high strikeout totals (he averaged 7.88 K/9 last year in the minors) but he's demonstrated advanced command and an ability to generate ground balls thanks to a sinker that he threw 39 percent of the time in his debut. Cannon will likely return to the minors, though he'll remain first in line should the White Sox need reinforcements in their rotation.

Kenyon Martin Jr. PHI SF
76ers' KJ Martin: Expected to play Wednesday
30m agoMartin (toe) is expected to play Wednesday against the Heat, Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Martin is still being listed as questionable on the injury report, but he was able to get through the team's morning shootaround, so it looks like he'll be out there barring a setback during warmups. However, he'll likely only be operating with minutes in the teens, so he's not a great target in fantasy hoops.
-
Duncan Robinson MIA SG
Heat's Duncan Robinson: Good to go against Philadelphia
32m agoRobinson (back) is available for Wednesday's Play-In Tournament game versus the 76ers.
Robinson will return to action Wednesday after missing Miami's last four contests to end the regular season while dealing with left facet syndrome. Robinson is averaging 10.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 26.7 minutes across his last 10 appearances, and he won't have a minutes restriction versus Philadelphia, per Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com. While the 29-year-old won't be on a minutes restriction, it is unclear if he will enter the Heat's starting lineup.
-
Joel Embiid PHI C
76ers' Joel Embiid: Expected to play Wednesday
33m agoEmbiid (knee) remains questionable but is expected to play Wednesday against the Heat, barring a setback during warmups, Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Embiid got through the team's morning shootaround without issue, but the 76ers' medical staff would like him to get through his pregame routine before officially clearing him. However, it seems very likely that he'll be out there, so he's a reasonable target in daily fantasy leagues.
-
Eric Gordon PHO SF
Suns' Eric Gordon: Returns to practice
1h agoGordon (migraine) participated in Tuesday's and Wednesday's practices, Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic reports.
Gordon missed Phoenix's regular-season finale due to a migraine. However, the veteran guard's return to practice is a good sign of his availability for Saturday's Game 1 against Minnesota.
-
Dean Wade CLE PF
Cavaliers' Dean Wade: Doesn't practice, unlikely to play
2h agoCoach J.B. Bickerstaff said Wade (knee) didn't practice Wednesday and is unlikely to play in Saturday's Game 1 against the Magic, Evan Dammarell of FearTheSword.com reports.
Wade carved out a substantial role when the Cavaliers dealt with multiple injuries, mainly to Evan Mobley, earlier in the season, but he hasn't played since March 8 due to a knee injury. In Wade's likely absence, Georges Niang and Marcus Morris are candidates for a few extra minutes off the bench.
-
Damian Lillard MIL PG
Bucks' Damian Lillard: Still not practicing, status TBD
2h agoLillard didn't practice Tuesday or Wednesday due to lingering groin and abductor injuries, Jamal Collier of ESPN.com reports.
Lillard has been dealing with the injuries for the last three weeks and missed four of the Bucks' final nine regular-season games. The superstar sharpshooter said Tuesday he won't be 100 percent for the postseason but added that no one is at this point in the campaign. Coach Doc Rivers said tests on Lillard's lower body returned clean but added that he still wanted to give his point guard "a little more rest."
-
Connor Ingram ARI G
Coyotes' Connor Ingram: Receives start in finale
7m agoIngram will guard the home goal versus the Oilers on Wednesday, Patrick Brown of the Coyotes' official site reports.
Ingram will get to the 50-game mark this season, though he'll end up getting a tough matchup. The Oilers are resting some players, but it doesn't appear any of their biggest scoring threats will be out of the lineup. Ingram has gone 5-6-0 with a 3.30 GAA and an .897 save percentage since the start of March.
-
Martin Jones TOR G
Maple Leafs' Martin Jones: Slated to start Wednesday
1h agoJones is expected to start on the road against Tampa Bay on Wednesday, Mark Masters of TSN reports.
Jones is making his first appearance since March 23. He has an 11-7-1 record, 2.70 GAA and .908 save percentage in 21 contests this season. The Lightning, who rank fifth offensively with 3.48 goals per game, figure to be a challenging adversary for the netminder.
-
Jake McCabe TOR D
Maple Leafs' Jake McCabe: Resting Wednesday
1h agoMcCabe will be a healthy scratch Wednesday against Tampa Bay, per Luke Fox of Sportsnet.
McCabe will finish the regular season with eight goals, 28 points, 56 PIM, 219 hits and 129 blocks in 73 outings. The 30-year-old defenseman is just getting a breather and should serve in a top-four capacity in Game 1 of the playoffs.
-
Morgan Rielly TOR D
Maple Leafs' Morgan Rielly: Healthy scratch Wednesday
1h agoRielly is set to be a healthy scratch Wednesday against the Lightning, Luke Fox of Sportsnet reports.
Rielly is concluding the campaign with seven goals and 58 points in 72 outings. After getting the season finale versus Tampa Bay off, he figures to draw back into the lineup as a member of the top pairing for Game 1 of the playoffs.
-
Joel Edmundson TOR D
Maple Leafs' Joel Edmundson: Out Wednesday
1h agoEdmundson (rest) will miss Wednesday's tilt versus Tampa Bay, per Luke Fox of Sportsnet.
Edmundson will finish the regular season with a goal and six points in 53 contests. He missed nine of 10 outings from March 26-April 13 because of injury, so it makes sense to give Edmundson some more time off before what's sure the be a grueling playoff series against Boston.
-
Adam Ginning PHI D
Flyers' Adam Ginning: Moved to minors
1h agoGinning will report to AHL Lehigh Valley, the team announced Wednesday.
Ginning scored a goal in nine appearances with the Flyers in 2023-24. He also has two goals, 13 points and 82 PIM in 56 contests with Lehigh Valley. The 24-year-old forward will fight for a bottom-six roster spot with the Flyers during training camp.
