6h agoJean-Charles re-signed with the Saints on Monday, Howard Balzer of GoPHNX.com reports.
Jean-Charles was not tendered by New Orleans as a restricted free agent, but he will return to the team nonetheless. After spending his first two seasons in Green Bay, the 25-year-old suited up for eight games between the 49ers and Saints in 2023. He accumulated four tackles (three solo) in the process. The Appalachian State product will now look to make an impression during offseason workouts.

8h agoThe Packers re-signed Wilson on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
An undrafted rookie in 2023, Wilson made the Packers' initial 53-man roster following the preseason and even mixed into seven regular-season games, taking 14 carries for 85 yards and hauling in four of five targets for 23 yards while working behind Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon. Green Bay swapped out Jones for Josh Jacobs and also retained Dillon this offseason, meaning Wilson is poised for a similar role in the coming campaign, barring potential additions to the backfield in free agency or the draft.

McCloud finished his 2023 campaign on the sidelines after getting injured in the team's season finale against the Eagles. Healthy now, the Notre Dame product can focus on being ready for a third campaign in New York after signing his free-agent tender.

8h agoCrosby (knee) said, "I'm feeling better than I ever have," Monday, after he spent much of 2023 fighting through a knee injury that required draining multiple times a week, Nick Shook of NFL.com reports.
Crosby set career highs in combined tackles (90) and sacks (14.5) last season despite spending much of the campaign hampered by a bursa joint issue. The 26-year-old underwent a procedure to correct it in January after the season ended and began rehabbing it soon after, which went "incredible," according to Crosby.

9h agoCoach Andy Reid indicated Monday that Rice is expected to remotely participate in the initial stage of the Chiefs' voluntary offseason program via virtual meetings, NFL.com reports.
Per Adam Teicher of ESPN.com, Rice -- who is is facing one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury and six counts of collision involving injury stemming from his involvement in a car crash in Dallas last month -- turned himself in to police last week and was subsequently released on bond. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the league has been closely monitoring developments related to the incident, while Reid noted that it remains to be seen whether the wideout will participate later in the spring when the team's offseason program moves to Kansas City. "I want to keep gathering the information from the law enforcement people,'" Reid said Monday. "We'll just see where everything goes from there (and) let the process take place."

9h agoForbes (back) was released by the Browns on Monday with a failed physical designation, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Forbes missed all of 2023 due to a back injury suffered during training camp. It's unclear what the injury is specifically or how close he could be to being healthy enough to compete. Either way, the 27-year-old will now be a free agent until he is at least fully recovered.

4m agoPolanco went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run, two walks and three total runs in Monday's 9-3 victory versus Cincinnati.
Polanco helped the Mariners get off to a fast start with his three-run shot off Frankie Montas in the first inning. It was the second homer in as many days for Polanco, and he's drive in five runs over the two-game span. The veteran infielder could be picking things up after a slow overall start to the season -- he's slashing just .203/.338/.356 with a 32.4 percent strikeout rate through 71 plate appearances.

Mitch Haniger SEA RFMariners' Mitch Haniger: Enjoys big game at dish
9m agoHaniger went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, a walk, three total RBI and two total runs Monday in a 9-3 win over the Reds.
Haniger batted cleanup as the Mariners' DH and drilled a two-run homer in the third inning along with a run-scoring double in the seventh. The slugger extended his hitting streak to six games, though this was his first multi-hit effort during that stretch. Haniger appears to be fully healthy this year following two straight injury-plagued campaigns, and he's had good results at the plate thus far, slashing .286/.375/.500 with three homers, 11 RBI and nine runs through 64 plate appearances.

Frankie Montas CIN SPReds' Frankie Montas: Struggles with control in loss
13m agoMontas (2-2) took the loss against Seattle on Monday, allowing five runs on three hits and five walks while striking out one batter over two innings.
Much of Montas' troubles were self-inflicted, as he issued five free passes and threw just 34 of 66 pitches for strikes. It didn't help that he was hit hard when getting Mariners batters to swing -- two of the three hits against him left the park. Montas began the season looking great, going 2-0 and allowing just one run over 11.2 frames across his first two starts. However, he's faltered with two straight losses during which he's yielded 10 runs (eight earned) over seven innings. Montas will look to get back on track in his next start, which is tentatively lined up to come at home against the Angels this weekend.

19m agoKirby (2-2) earned the win over Cincinnati on Monday, allowing two runs on five hits and no walks while striking out six batters over six innings.
Kirby was pounded for 13 runs over 7.2 frames across his previous two starts coming into Monday, but he managed to get back on the right track with a quality start and a victory. The right-hander induced 12 whiffs among his 60 strikes and racked up six punchouts after notching just five over his previous two outings combined. Kirby still has a poor 6.64 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over 20.1 innings on the season, but he has two quality starts among his four appearances.

Esteury Ruiz OAK LFAthletics' Esteury Ruiz: Homers in return
25m agoRuiz hit a solo home run in his lone plate appearance in a loss to the Cardinals on Monday.
Ruiz was recalled from Triple-A prior to the contest and entered as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning. He produced Oakland's only run of the game when he smashed a 406-foot solo shot off Cardinals reliever JoJo Romero. It was a bit baffling when the A's sent Ruiz to the minors April 1, as he had gone 3-for-7 with a stolen base over his first three games. He played well during his Triple-A stint, slashing .326/.423/.581 with seven thefts in eight tries and showed more than his usual amount of power with three long balls. He probably isn't going to suddenly become a home-run hitter, but that's fine with most fantasy managers who hung onto him during his demotion -- after Ruiz racked up an AL-leading 67 thefts as a rookie last year, he figures to be a difference-maker in that category (if given enough playing time) now that he's back in the big leagues.

33m agoStripling (0-4) took the loss against St. Louis on Monday, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four batters over 5.2 innings.
Though Stripling picked up his fourth straight loss to begin the campaign -- tied with Luis Castillo for most in the league -- he at least managed to improve upon the six-run, 11-hit performance he posted his previous time on the mound. The right-hander gave up a season-low six hits Monday and came one out away from a quality start, but he garnered only one run of support from Oakland's offense. Stripling has given the A's decent length this season by averaging nearly six innings per start, but he's well off the fantasy radar in standard leagues given his poor overall numbers.

4h agoSarr left Monday's Game 3 of the G League Finals against the Maine Celtics due to an ankle injury, Jared Weiss of The Athletic reports.
Sarr was involved in a collision while pursuing a rebound, and he ultimately needed to be carried to the locker room. His return to Monday's clash seems unlikely given the circumstances in which he exited.

Malik Monk (knee) and Kevin Huerter (shoulder) represent notable absences for Sacramento, although there should still be no shortage of drama, as three of Golden State's four regular-season meetings versus the Kings this year were decided by exactly one point.

Curry and Draymond Green (knee) have both been cleared for action Tuesday, leaving Gary Payton (calf) as the Warriors' lone absence. Golden State will be traveling to Sacramento for Tuesday's showdown, returning to the scene of the crime where Curry dropped 50 points (20-38 FG, 7-18 3Pt) in a victorious Game 7 of last year's first-round series between these teams. Additionally, Curry averaged 31.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists in four games against the Kings this season.

9h agoWood (knee) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Pelicans, Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Wood has been sidelined since undergoing an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee in March, and he'll remain sidelined as the Lakers begin postseason play Tuesday. It's unclear if he'll be available at any point if the team advances in the postseason.

Vanderbilt's defensive efforts were a key part of the Lakers' run to the Western Conference Finals last season. However, he has been unavailable for most of 2023-24, playing just 29 regular-season games (six appearances). Vanderbilt hasn't played since Feb. 1, so his continued absence shouldn't impact coach Darvin Ham's rotation.

James continues to deal with left ankle peroneal tendinopathy, but he'll likely be able to suit up as the Lakers begin postseason play Tuesday. He appeared in the team's final three regular-season games and averaged 32.7 points, 11.0 assists, 9.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals in 38.3 minutes per game.

Eriksson Ek helped out on a Ryan Hartman tally late in the second period, which was the game-winner. The helper was Eriksson Ek's second in as many contests, but he's been limited to three assists over eight games in April. The center has put together a career year with 64 points, 266 shots on net, 167 hits, 60 PIM and a plus-18 rating, all personal bests, in 76 outings, but he's faded late in the campaign.

Rossi had been limited to three goals with a minus-7 rating over his previous 12 contests. The 22-year-old set up goals by Matt Boldy and Kirill Kaprizov in Monday's victory. The pair of helpers got Rossi to the 40-point mark, and he's added 167 shots on net and a minus-3 rating over 81 appearances in his rookie campaign.

Ryan Hartman MIN RWWild's Ryan Hartman: Tallies late in second period
12m agoHartman scored a goal on two shots and blocked three shots in Monday's 3-1 win over the Kings.
Hartman's goal came in the dying seconds of the second period, and it stood as the game-winner. Three of his 21 tallies this season have been game-winners. The 29-year-old forward has 44 points, 173 shots on net, 74 hits, 72 PIM, 64 blocked shots and a plus-7 rating through 73 appearances as a solid and physical two-way forward capable of playing just about anywhere in the lineup.

Boldy is up to 29 goals, 38 helpers, 224 shots on net, 48 PIM and a plus-5 rating through 74 appearances this season.

Kaprizov recorded his fourth multi-point effort over the last six games. The winger hasn't gone quietly even with the Wild missing out on the playoffs this year. He's up to 45 goals, 95 points, 271 shots on net, 55 hits and a plus-12 rating through 74 appearances. He'll have one more chance to add to those numbers in Thursday's season finale versus the Kraken.

Filip Gustavsson MIN GWild's Filip Gustavsson: Strong in win
19m agoGustavsson stopped 23 of 24 shots in Monday's 3-1 win over the Kings.
Gustavsson had a shutout bid deep into the third period, but Blake Lizotte broke it up with 5:24 left in the game. The 25-year-old Gustavsson held on for the win, his first since March 28. The Swede was able to get to the 20-win mark for the second year in a row, but it was a challenging campaign. He's 20-18-4 with a 3.11 GAA and an .898 save percentage through 45 appearances this season. Marc-Andre Fleury is scheduled to start the season finale Thursday versus the Kraken, so Gustavsson is likely done for the campaign.
