Fantasy Hockey: Scouting The NHL DFS Playoffs - Saturday, April 15

FSWA Hockey Writer of the Year Mr. Pucks aka Cappy will help you cash on today's NHL slate over at DraftKings and FanDuel.

Here we are: the first NHL playoff weekend of 2017. Heroes are born every year in the playoffs, vets become beloved by their fans, and some score a goal people will talk about for years to come. The game is faster, the hits are harder, the passes sharper, and the ice just a bit colder. While we try to find what stars will win us some money in DFS we try to decide what value guy will do the same. I suggest playing smaller entry fields, because just like any small slate, sharks will flood the multi-entry GPPs. Be wise with your money. Time to look at some of tonight’s plays and build a winner.

Mr. Pucks Profound Three

Jonathan Toews (Chi) - Center - ($7200 FD / $6500 DK)

After the letdown that was Game 1, where Toews and his Blackhawks got shutout in Chicago on home ice by the Predators, he is hungry. Toews is a playoff star and will rally the troops to take control of this game before heading to Nashville. I see him scoring two goals with five shots on net in what could be a 5-1 Hawks win.

Alex Ovechkin (Was) - Wing - ($8400 FD / $8400 DK)

The one thing missing from Ovie accolades is a Stanley Cup, and he knows he isn't getting younger. He was non-existent in the Caps game 1 win, but will let his presence be known in game 2. He will hit the score sheet with a power play goal and an assist, while taking five shots on net.

James Van riemsdyk (Tor) - Wing - ($6400 FD / $6100 DK)

Sticking to the same Series, Van riemsdyk is looking to help the young, somewhat overmatched Maple Leafs pick up a win before the series heads back to Toronto. In his last three games, JVR has averaged six shots on goal, which he has converted to three goals and an assist. I see another six shots tonight with a goal and an assist in what will be a back and forth game.

Mr. Pucks Sleeper Play

Ondrej Kase (Ana) - Wing - ($3200 FD / 3500 DK)

The youngster is getting his opportunity to not only help the Ducks advance, but secure a starting role for next season. Though he is not going to control a game, he can score when left to much open ice. I am looking for him to get an assist tonight while taking three shots on goal and blocking one shot. He should and will surpass 3x value.

Teams To Target

Toronto Maple Leafs - I like the Play of Matthews-Nylander in cash. I love the play of van Riemsdyk-Bozak-Marner in GPP. Those three are one of the better lines on tonight's slate. Defensively speaking, I really like Zaitsev in this game.

Washington Capitals - The top line pairing of Ovie-Oshie is one of my favorite cash plays. Also like the second line of Williams-Kuznetsov-Johansson in some gpps. Burakovsky is a nice one off pivot. Shattenkirk or Carlson on defense.

Chicago Blackhawks - Toews-Panik is a high upside low cap hit cash pairing, or you can go all in on Kane-Anisimov-Panarian, but its expensive. Also like Tootoo on the 4th line as a sneaky vet play. Keith or Seabrook on defense.

Also Consider: Nash 1, Ana 1, Cgy 1

**As always check before puck drop to see if your goalie is starting
