The Night that Was
— Yankees 1B Greg Bird finally hit his first HR of the season. I am not sure he will hit 30, but I think 20-25 is still a safe bet.
— Rangers RP Sam Dyson will be removed from the closer’s spot any second now (told you so, Shawn Childs!) I expect Matt Bush to get the job and hold it until the Rangers make a move around the All-Star Break.
— Orioles RP Zach Britton goes on the 10-day DL with a forearm strain. The team is saying it’s a two-week injury, but I think it could be closer to two months. Brad Brach should step up in Britton’s absence.
— Who is Trey Mancini? He is a 1B/OF for the Orioles who needs more at-bats. Watch him closely as I think he will get OF eligibility soon. He’s a solid hitter who could be a legitimate 20-80 bat if they can fit him into their lineup.
— Brewers 1B Eric Thames might be the talk of the first two weeks of the season. He was going in the 11-12th rounds of drafts and has put up great numbers thus far. Even if he slows down, it looks like he will have been worth his selection.
— Braves SP Bartolo Colon just figures out a way to stay in (and win) games. I don’t trust him enough to roster him, but I would certainly start him in DFS.
— Rockies RP Greg Holland has seven saves on the season and seems to have cemented the job with Adam Ottavino becoming the Rockies late inning closer.
