Forrest Long's 2017 NFL Mock Draft 1.0

2016's Mock Draft Champion Forrest Long forecasts the first round of the upcoming 2017 NFL Draft!

Pick 1: Cleveland Browns - Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M

The Browns need help everywhere and while getting a franchise QB should be their top priority, its Garrett that is considered the top player in this years draft.

Pick 2: San Francisco 49ers - Solomon Thomas, DE, Stanford

Thomas stock has been rising after his bowl performance and he would help upgrade the San Francisco DL

Pick 3: Chicago Bears - Jonathan Allen, DE, Alabama

Somehow John Fox retained his head coaching job, Jay Cutler is gone for Mike Glennon, so expect the defensive minded Fox take the best defensive player available on draft day.

Pick 4: Jacksonville Jaguars - Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU

Fournette is a freakish RB talent that most analysts think has the most exciting combination of size, speed, and power in this years RB draft class.

Pick 5: Tennessee Titans (From LAR) - Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio State

The Titans need to address their need for a CB and Lattimore is consider to be the top CB in this draft

Pick 6: New York Jets - Mitch Trubisky, QB, North Carolina

The Jets were a mess at quarterback last season with options like Ryan Fitzpatrick, Geno Smith, Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg all showing they are not a franchise QB, thus adding a QB has to be the Jets top pick.

Pick 7: Los Angeles Chargers - Malik Hooker, FS, Ohio State

Hooker would really help upgrade the Chargers defensive secondary.

Pick 8: Carolina Panthers - Jamal Adams, S, LSU

The Panthers have a huge need at the safety position and Adams would fit their defensive secondary needs.

Pick 9: Cincinnati Bengals - Reuben Foster, ILB, Alabama

The Bengals have a need at their LB group and Foster would give them an immediate starter at that position.

Pick 10: Buffalo Bills - O.J. Howard, TE, Alabama

The Bills appear to have decided to go with Tyrod Taylor at QB, so if they are not taking a QB they need to get Taylor some weapons. OJ Howard would definitely help the Buffalo offense this coming season.

Pick 11: New Orleans Saints - Derek Barnett, DE, Tennessee

Defense Defense and more Defense help! The Saints could address their LB needs, speed rusher needs, or some help for their secondary, but either way they need to take the best defensive player on the board.

Pick 12: Cleveland Browns (From PHI) - Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson

The Browns will address their QB need with their second of two picks in round one this year. Watson has dual-threat potential as a passer and a runner but has to cut down on his interceptions to be a top QB.

Pick 13: Arizona Cardinals - Gareon Conley, CB, Ohio State

It's possible Arizona will take their QB of the future should one of the top QBs fall to them, but if they don’t then the Cardinals need to take the best player available to fill an area of need.

Pick 14: Philadelphia Eagles (From MIN) - Mike Williams, WR, Clemson

The Eagles need to get their young QB Carson Wentz some weapons and Williams has the size and speed to help give the Eagles a much needed playmaker at WR.

Pick 15: Indianapolis Colts - Ryan Ramczyk, OT, Wisconsin

The Colts need OL and DL help, and at some point need to address their need for a young RB. However protecting QB Andrew Luck has to be their main objective in this draft.

Pick 16: Baltimore Ravens - Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan

The Ravens offense needs playmakers to help QB Joe Flacco.

Pick 17: Washington Redskins - Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stamford

McCaffrey would give the Redskins a receiving threat out of the backfield.

Pick 18: Tennessee Titans (From LAR) - John Ross III, WR, Washington

The Titans addressed their DB needs with their earlier pick, so now they can get speedy WR John Ross at this pick to give their young QB Mariota another weapon on offense

Pick 19: Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State

The Buccaneers had several injuries at RB this year and now with Doug Martin's roster status uncertain, expect Tampa Bay to draft a RB in this year draft. Cook would be reunited with Jameis Winston, his old FSU playmate, to give the Bucs offense another weapon especially as a pass catcher out of the backfield.

Pick 20: Denver Broncos - Cameron Robinson, OT, Alabama

Denver’s biggest need is probably OL.

Pick 21: Detroit Lions - Haason Reddick, LB, Temple

Reddick’s stock has been rising up the board and he would fill a need at LB for the Lions defense

Pick 22: Miami Dolphins - Forrest Lamp, OL, Western Kentucky

The Dolphins need to protect QB Ryan Tannehill.

Pick 23: New York Giants - Taco Charlton, DE, Michigan

Charlton stock has been rising the past few weeks and unless a RB or OL falls to the Giants here at twenty three, then probably expect them to draft for need and Charlton fits a need at DE.

Pick 24: Oakland Raiders - Zach Cunningham, LB, Vanderbilt

With the rumors of adding Marshawn Lynch in the air the Raiders will pass on a RB and address with LB needs on defense.

Pick 25: Houston Texans - DeShone Kizer, QB, Notre Dame

Unless the Texans trade up or convince Tony Romo to unretire, they have to address their need for a QB right?

Pick 26: Seattle Seahawks - Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama

If one of the top OL fall to Seattle I would think that would be their best option, however if they go defense then a CB like Humphrey could be the pick.

Pick 27: Kansas City Chiefs - Patrick Mahomes, QB, Texas Tech

While the Chiefs do need a QB of the future, I am not sure it will be them that take Mahomes as someone could trade up to get him.

Pick 28: Dallas Cowboys - David Njoku, TE, Miami (Fla)

Surely Jerry Jones will finally draft some defensive help, right? If Njoku is still available he could be too hard for the Cowboys to pass on to eventually replace the aging Jason Witten and give Dak Prescott another weapon on offense.

Pick 29: Green Bay Packers - Teez Tabor, CB, Florida

The Packers need to address their huge need for defensive secondary help and Tabor has the ability to be a solid CB in the NFL.

Pick 30: Pittsburgh Steelers - Jabrill Peppers, S, Michigan

Peppers versatility of possibility playing various positions would be help for the Steelers defense.

Pick 31: Atlanta Falcons - T.J. Watt, DE, Wisconsin

The Falcons still need defensive pass rushing help and having Watt fall to them at the end of round one would be a nice addition.

Pick 32: New Orleans Saints (From NE) - Takkarist McKinley, DE, UCLA

The Saints still need defensive help to pair with their earlier selection and getting McKinley at the end of round one would be a another nice addition.
