Josiah Deguara GB TE
Jaguars' Josiah Deguara: Inking with Jacksonville
2h agoThe Jaguars are slated to sign Deguara to a one-year contract, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports.
Deguara spent the last four seasons handling a depth role in Green Bay, where he was drafted in the third round back in 2020. His versatility both as a blocker and on special teams will boost his chances of earning playing time behind Evan Engram, but Deguara peaked with a 25-245-2 receiving line in 2021 and doesn't appear to have much fantasy potential.

J.K. Dobbins BAL RB
J.K. Dobbins: Lines up AFC West visit
4h agoDobbins (Achilles) is visiting the Chargers on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Dobbins, who was recently medically cleared for football activities, is coming off a left Achilles tear after previously missing all of 2021 and about half of the 2022 season due to a torn ACL and proceeding issues. That medical history undercuts otherwise impressive career numbers for Dobbins, who has averaged 5.8 yards per carry and scored 13 touchdowns since entering the NFL in 2020 as a second-round pick by the Ravens, but only suited up for 24 games in that span. Reuniting with offensive coordinator Greg Roman could make the most sense as a landing spot for Dobbins, but it's possible he doesn't garner more interest than a potential prove-it deal. The Chargers signed Gus Edwards,a former Baltimore backfield mate of Dobbins, early in free agency.

Derek Stingley Jr. HOU CB
Texans' Derek Stingley: Slow start, strong finish
4h agoStingley recorded 39 tackles, 13 passes defensed and five interceptions over 11 regular-season games in 2023.
Stingley, a second-year cornerback and 2022 first-round draft pick, suffered a Week 3 hamstring that created issues for the defense early on, but upon his return Week 10, Stingley made an impact. He had interceptions in three straight games, including a Week 13 win over the Broncos. Stingley will return as Houston's top cornerback in 2024.

DeAndre Houston-Carson HOU DB
DeAndre Houston-Carson: Enters free agency
4h agoHouston-Carson recorded 41 tackles, five passes defensed, two interceptions and one fumble recovery over 13 regular-season games in 2023.
Houston-Carson started the season in Baltimore then finished up in Houston, where he played a career-high 447 snaps on defense. Injuries on the back end led to Houston-Carson playing a big role for the Texans, including two pivotal plays in a Week 10 win over the Bengals. He entered unrestricted free agency during the offseason.

Jimmie Ward HOU SAF
Texans' Jimmie Ward: Injury-marred 2023
5h agoWard (quadriceps) recorded 50 tackles, three passes defensed, one interception and one forced fumble over 10 games in 2023.
Ward, a team captain, was beset by injuries all season long. He missed time due to hip, hamstring and shoulder injuries before a quadricep ended his season in December. In between the setbacks, Ward played well, and his one interception was an end-zone pick that sealed a win over Denver. Houston went 6-4 in games he played and could use his stabilizing presence on the back end. Ward turns 33 in July and will be entering his 11th season.

Henry To'oTo'o HOU LB
Texans' Henry To'oTo'o: Contributes in rookie season
5h agoTo'oTo'o recorded 61 tackles, two passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery over 15 regular-season games in 2023.
To'oTo'o, a fifth-round draft pick out of Alabama, started from Week 2 to Week 7 and played in both of Houston's playoff games during his rookie season. The Texans lost two linebackers to free agency -- Blake Cashman and Denzel Perryman -- which leaves To'oTo'o as a projected starter for 2024. However, Houston is expected to address the position during the offseason.

Aaron Hicks LAA CF
Angels' Aaron Hicks: Draws start in right field
2m agoHicks is starting in right field and hitting second in Thursday's opener against the Orioles.
The expectation was the Hicks would play regularly against left-handers, but it's telling that he's not only in there versus righty Corbin Burnes on Opening Day but also all the way up in the second spot in the batting order. Mickey Moniak will begin this one on the bench.
-
Emmanuel Rivera ARI 3B
Diamondbacks' Emmanuel Rivera: Pushed off 40-man roster
2m agoThe Diamondbacks designated Rivera for assignment Thursday.
Heading into spring training, Rivera looked like a fairly safe bet to make the Opening Day roster as a reserve infielder, but Arizona's plans for him may have changed after he submitted a woeful .167/.268/.229 slash line over 21 Cactus League games. The Diamondbacks will instead move Rivera off the 40-man roster and make room for rookie infielder Blaze Alexander on the Opening Day bench.
-
Anthony Rendon LAA 3B
Angels' Anthony Rendon: In leadoff spot for opener
6m agoRendon is starting at third base and batting leadoff in Thursday's opener in Baltimore.
Angels manager Ron Washington toyed with the idea of batting Rendon at the top of the order later on in spring training and he's decided to carry it into the season. Rendon will be followed by Aaron Hicks, Mike Trout and Taylor Ward.

Warming Bernabel COL 3B
Rockies' Warming Bernabel: Exits 40-man roster
10m agoThe Rockies designated Bernabel for assignment Thursday, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.
The move frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for Alan Trejo. Bernabel is coming off a .225/.270/.338 slash line over 322 plate appearances with Double-A Hartford in 2023.
-
Sammy Peralta CHW RP
White Sox's Sammy Peralta: Designated for assignment
13m agoThe White Sox designated Peralta for assignment Thursday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Some 40-man roster space was required as the White Sox set their Opening Day roster. Peralta will now go through the waiver process or could be traded.
-
Yosver Zulueta TOR SP
Blue Jays' Yosver Zulueta: Removed from 40-man roster
16m agoThe Blue Jays designated Zulueta for assignment Thursday, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
A spot on the 40-man roster needed to be cleared for Brian Serven. Zulueta has a big arm, but his control problems could scare teams off from taking a chance on him via waivers.
-
Jalen Johnson ATL SF
Hawks' Jalen Johnson: Remains out Thursday
1m agoJohnson (ankle) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Celtics, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
Johnson is due for another evaluation soon, but the team hasn't released an official update since he was diagnosed with a right ankle sprain last Thursday. His next chance to suit up will come Saturday versus Milwaukee, while De'Andre Hunter and Vit Krejci should continue to see increased playing time until Johnson returns.
-
Onyeka Okongwu ATL C
Hawks' Onyeka Okongwu: Still out against Boston
1m agoOkongwu (toe) won't play in Thursday's game versus the Celtics, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
Okongwu's absence streak will extend to four games Thursday due to a left toe sprain. Bruno Fernando will likely continue to receive increased opportunities in his absence. Okongwu's next chance to suit up is Saturday's matchup with Milwaukee.
-
Dejounte Murray ATL PG
Hawks' Dejounte Murray: Still dealing with back issue
3m agoMurray is questionable for Thursday's game against the Celtics due to lower back soreness, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
Murray continues to deal with the back issue but hasn't missed a game since Feb. 9. Thursday's contest is the second half of a back-to-back set, and the point guard posted 30 points (13-20 FG), seven assists, three rebounds, two steals and two blocks in 35 minutes during Wednesday's win over Portland. If Murray takes a seat, Trent Forrest, Garrison Mathews and Wesley Matthews would be candidates for increased minutes, but Bogdan Bogdanovic would likely start at point guard.
-
Victor Wembanyama SA C
Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Productive in return
8m agoWembanyama finished with 19 points (7-15 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 4-7 FT), eight rebounds, six assists and five blocks over 30 minutes during Wednesday's 118-111 win over the Jazz.
Wembanyama returned to action Wednesday after missing San Antonio's previous contest with an ankle injury. The rookie phenom has been a shot-blocking menace this season, recording at least five swats in 21 games. However, turnovers have been an issue for Wembanyama, as he is averaging 4.5 per contest over his last 10 appearances.
-
Kevin Love MIA PF
Heat's Kevin Love: Expected to play Friday
14m agoCoach Erik Spoelstra said Love (heel) didn't participate in Thursday's practice due to personal reasons but is expected have his status upgraded for Friday's game versus the Trail Blazers, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Love hasn't played since Feb. 27 while dealing with a right heel contusion. However, if the veteran forward is upgraded to available Friday, he will likely continue to serve as Miami's backup center to Bam Adebayo.
-
Jalen Williams OKC SF
Thunder's Jalen Williams: Double-doubles in OT loss
19m agoWilliams ended with 23 points (9-23 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, 10 assists, one block and two steals over 38 minutes during Wednesday's 132-126 overtime loss to the Rockets.
Williams ended as the Thunder's second-best scorer behind Josh Giddey, but what stood out the most was his playmaking ability, as the 10 assists were just the third time he dished out double-digit dimes this season. Williams should remain one of the Thunder's focal points on offense ahead of Friday's matchup against the Suns, regardless of whether Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (quadriceps) is able to return or not.
-
MacKenzie Blackwood SJ G
Sharks' Mackenzie Blackwood: Tending twine Thursday
7m agoBlackwood will be in the visiting crease in Minnesota on Thursday, according to Jessi Pierce of NHL.com.
Blackwood is 0-3-0 in his last three starts, giving up 14 goals on 88 shots (.841 save percentage). He will try and turn things around against the Wild, who average 30.1 shots on goal, 20th in the NHL. Blackwood is 9-20-3 with a 3.57 GAA and an .896 save percentage for the lowly Sharks this season.
-
Alex Nylander CLB LW
Blue Jackets' Alexander Nylander: Unavailable versus Penguins
16m agoNylander (upper body) will not be available to play versus Pittsburgh on Thursday, Wes Crosby of NHL.com reports.
Nylander was dealt from the Penguins five weeks ago, in exchange for Emil Benstrom and has made the most of his change of scenery. Nylander has eight goals and 11 points in 15 games with the Blue Jackets and is seeing almost three minutes more of ice time than he did in five scoreless games with the Penguins earlier in the season.
-
Stuart Skinner EDM G
Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Defending crease against Kings
21m agoSkinner will be in goal versus Los Angeles at home Thursday, Tony Brar of Oilers TV reports.
Skinner has given up three or more goals in each of his last four outings but still managed to secure a 2-1-1 record. With a supporting cast that includes world-class center Connor McDavid, the 25-year-old Skinner should be able to skate by without having to be perfect. Simply good enough will do for the Edmonton native Skinner.
-
Colin Blackwell CHI C
Blackhawks' Colin Blackwell: Not playing Thursday
26m agoBlackwell (upper body) will miss his fourth straight game Thursday versus Ottawa, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
The good news is that Blackwell has started skating again. He has eight goals and 12 points in 39 games this season.
-
Daniil Tarasov CLB G
Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: In blue paint Thursday
26m agoTarasov will guard the cage for Thursday's road clash with Pittsburgh, Wes Crosby of NHL.com reports.
Tarasov has started three of the Jackets' last seven outings, as the team has decided to split the workload between the 25-year-old and Elvis Merzlikins. Looking ahead to next season, Tarasov could be in the mix for the starting job, especially if the team honors Merzlikins's prior trade request. For now, Tarasov should get the nod in every other game.
-
Torey Krug STL D
Blues' Torey Krug: Game-time decision Thursday
32m agoKrug (illness) will take warmups Thursday before a decision is made on his status versus Calgary, per Lou Korac of NHL.com.
Krug is the Blues' top offensive defenseman with three goals and 31 assists in 71 appearances this season. Look for Tyler Tucker to enter the lineup, should Krug be deemed unavailable to play.
