Trent Taylor: Could return to The Bay
    19m ago

Taylor has talked to the 49ers about a potential return to the team this offseason, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Taylor was selected by San Francisco in the fifth round of the 2017 Draft and spent three seasons there before stops in Cincinnati and Chicago. The 49ers do currently have a void in their return game, with Ray-Ray McCloud now in Atlanta, which is likely where the interest in Taylor lies.

Browns' Deshaun Watson: Throwing full speed
    2h ago

Watson (shoulder) said Tuesday he's already resumed "throwing full speed" but that he's uncertain how large a workload he'll handle during OTAs and minicamp, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Watson clarified that certain members of the Browns' medical staff are in favor of a more conservative approach to the quarterback's recovery from right shoulder surgery, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram, which would wait until training camp to have him fully practice. Still, Watson has been fully forthright in his confidence to be available for the Browns' season opener, and there appear to be no real worries about his Week 1 status. In case Watson misses part of the offseason, or struggles during the fall, Cleveland can lean on newly-signed, experienced backups Jameis Winston and Tyler Huntley.

Odell Beckham: Nothing imminent with Miami
    3h ago

Dolphins general manager Chris Grier said Tuesday that there's "nothing imminent" on a deal between Beckham and the team, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.

Beckham was reportedly extended a contract offer by Miami after visiting with the team back in March, but it doesn't appear that a signing is around the corner. The 31-year-old is coming off a forgettable 14-game season with the Ravens, in which he put up a 35-565-3 receiving line, but he could find more success as a No. 3 option behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. It could be that Beckham will need to wait until after the dust of the 2024 NFL Draft has settled to find a landing spot.

Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Fifth-year option to be exercised
    3h ago

General manager Chris Grier said Tuesday that he expects the Dolphins to pick up Waddle's fifth-year option, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.

The Dolphins have consistently stated a desire to come to terms with Waddle on a long-term contract, and Grier specifically dismissed trade rumors earlier this offseason. The third-year pro has recorded three straight 1,000-yard seasons to begin his career, becoming the first wideout to do so in franchise history, and there's little question of his value as a No. 2 read behind Tyreek Hill. Picking up Waddle's fifth-year option will keep him under contract with the Dolphins for two more seasons.

  • Taylor Decker DET OT
Lions' Taylor Decker: Recovered from offseason surgery
    3h ago

Decker said Tuesday he underwent foot/ankle surgery this offseason and resumed working out mid-February, Justin Rogers of The Detroit News reports.

Decker appears already recovered from his offseason procedure. The 30-year-old left tackle missed only two regular-season games last season while suiting up for all three of Detroit's postseason contests. Now heading into the final year of his contract, Decker is still playing at a high level.

  • Courtland Sutton DEN WR
Broncos' Courtland Sutton: Not at voluntary OTAs
    6h ago

Sutton wants a new contract and hasn't reported to voluntary OTAs, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Sutton has two seasons remaining on a four-year, $60 million extension, scheduled for a $13 million base salary in 2024 ($2 million guaranteed) and then $13.5 million in 2025 (no guarantees). He scored a career-high 10 touchdowns in 16 games last season, though 90 targets were his fewest since 2020 -- the year he suffered an ACL tear Week 1 -- and he still hasn't come close to matching his career-high 1,112 yards from 2019. The 28-year-old won't necessarily hold out from mandatory team activities later this spring, but the situation is at least worth keeping an eye on until he gets an extension or contract adjustment, or otherwise reports to the Broncos. There's been no indication of his Week 18 ankle injury lingering into the offseason, with the main concern at this point being the lack of a starting-caliber QB on Denver's roster. The team also appears thin at wide receiver, where the starting job across from Sutton could end up going to any of Josh Reynolds, Marvin Mims, Tim Patrick (Achilles) or Brandon Johnson.

Drury (hamstring) said he will be available off the bench Tuesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said O'Neill (head) cleared the concussion protocol and will sit Tuesday and Wednesday against the Guardians before potentially rejoining the lineup Thursday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

O'Neill received eight stitches above his left eye after a collision with Rafael Devers on Monday, but the outfielder thankfully avoided a concussion. O'Neill will take a couple days to recover from the incident but should return to action for the series finale versus Cleveland.

Gonzalez (wrist) fielded grounders Tuesday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Gonzalez is working his way back from a left wrist sprain, so being able to take grounders with his injured hand would appear to be a good sign. He's eligible to return Sunday and the hope is that he could be back by then or shortly after.

Pirates' Yasmani Grandal: Cleared for rehab assignment
    20m ago

Grandal (foot) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

Grandal has been dealing with plantar fasciitis in his left foot since early March but is finally ready to test things out in a game setting. Henry Davis has struggled in the early going, so the Pirates seem likely to stick with their original plan of sharing catching duties between Davis and Grandal once the latter is ready.

    76ers' Joel Embiid: Officially questionable

Embiid (knee) is questionable for Wednesday's Play-In Game against the Heat.

Embiid sat out Sunday's regular-season finale against the Nets due to precautionary reasons but practiced Monday and Tuesday. The 76ers have won eight straight, including five in a row with Embiid back in the lineup, and the reining MVP has looked great in the process, averaging 30.4 points, 9.2 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.2 blocks in 30.6 minutes per game.

Rockets' Tari Eason: On track for training camp
    43m ago

Rockets general manager Rafael Stone said Tuesday that Eason (lower leg) is on track to be available for training camp, Adam Spolane of Sports Radio 610 Houston.

Eason underwent surgery in March to treat a benign growth in his lower leg but is expected to make a full recovery by the time training camp rolls around in the fall. In 22 appearances last season, Eason averaged 9.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.4 steals in 21.8 minutes. The 22-year-old is a versatile prospect on both ends of the floor, but with other young options in the frontcourt such as Jabari Smith, Amen Thompson and Cam Whitmore, Eason may struggle to win playing time.

Robinson (back) is probable for Wednesday's Play-In Game versus Philadelphia, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports.

Robinson appears to be on the mend, and he profiles as a swing factor in Miami's rotation due to Terry Rozier (neck) being officially ruled out for Wednesday's postseason affair. Robinson has not taken the court since April 7 due to an ongoing battle with facet syndrome.

Heat's Terry Rozier: Won't play Wednesday

Rozier (neck) has been ruled out for Wednesday's Play-In Game against the 76ers, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.

Rozier missed the final four games of the regular season due to neck spasms and will remain sidelined for the beginning of postseason play. Caleb Martin has been starting at shooting guard recently, but Duncan Robinson (back) is expected to be available following a four-game absence of his own, so it's unclear who'll share the backcourt with Tyler Herro.

Lightning's Luke Glendening: Ruled out Wednesday

Glendening will miss Wednesday's matchup with the Maple Leafs with an undisclosed injury, Gabby Shirley of Bally Sports Florida reports.

Glendening logged just 3:47 of ice time against the Sabres on Monday before being forced to leave the game due to his injury. Considering the veteran center has registered just one point in his last 22 contests, few fantasy players figure to be impacted by his absence. The Michigan native had played every game this season before being ruled out for the season finale Wednesday. Austin Watson should slot into the lineup with Glendening on the shelf.

Thompson won't be an option for Team USA at the 2024 IIHF World Championship, but the injury won't impact his offseason training. The 26-year-old forward accounted for 29 goals, 56 points, 246 shots on net and 79 hits in 71 games during the 2023-24 campaign.

Mantha will miss Tuesday's matchup with Chicago due to an undisclosed injury, Jesse Granger of The Athletic reports.

Mantha is reportedly considered day-to-day, so his absence may not linger into the postseason. Without Mantha in the lineup, Michael Amadio will return to action after having missed the previous two games as a healthy scratch.

Stephenson won't be in the lineup versus Chicago on Tuesday due to an undisclosed injury, Jesse Granger of The Athletic reports.

Stephenson is considered day-to-day, so he could still be an option for the season finale against Anaheim on Thursday or, perhaps more importantly, Game 1 of the playoffs. In his previous 11 contests, the 29-year-old center managed just two goals while chipping in eight helpers, including four power-play points. Without Stephenson in the lineup, Paul Cotter looks set to take on a second-line role.
