2h agoSutton wants a new contract and hasn't reported to voluntary OTAs, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Sutton has two seasons remaining on a four-year, $60 million extension, scheduled for a $13 million base salary in 2024 ($2 million guaranteed) and then $13.5 million in 2025 (no guarantees). He scored a career-high 10 touchdowns in 16 games last season, though 90 targets were his fewest since 2020 -- the year he suffered an ACL tear Week 1 -- and he still hasn't come close to matching his career-high 1,112 yards from 2019. The 28-year-old won't necessarily hold out from mandatory team activities later this spring, but the situation is at least worth keeping an eye on until he gets an extension or contract adjustment, or otherwise reports to the Broncos. There's been no indication of his Week 18 ankle injury lingering into the offseason, with the main concern at this point being the lack of a starting-caliber QB on Denver's roster. The team also appears thin at wide receiver, where the starting job across from Sutton could end up going to any of Josh Reynolds, Marvin Mims, Tim Patrick (Achilles) or Brandon Johnson.

Jean-Charles was not tendered by New Orleans as a restricted free agent, but he will return to the team nonetheless. After spending his first two seasons in Green Bay, the 25-year-old suited up for eight games between the 49ers and Saints in 2023. He accumulated four tackles (three solo) in the process. The Appalachian State product will now look to make an impression during offseason workouts.

18h agoThe Packers re-signed Wilson on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
An undrafted rookie in 2023, Wilson made the Packers' initial 53-man roster following the preseason and even mixed into seven regular-season games, taking 14 carries for 85 yards and hauling in four of five targets for 23 yards while working behind Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon. Green Bay swapped out Jones for Josh Jacobs and also retained Dillon this offseason, meaning Wilson is poised for a similar role in the coming campaign, barring potential additions to the backfield in free agency or the draft.

McCloud finished his 2023 campaign on the sidelines after getting injured in the team's season finale against the Eagles. Healthy now, the Notre Dame product can focus on being ready for a third campaign in New York after signing his free-agent tender.

19h agoCrosby (knee) said, "I'm feeling better than I ever have," Monday, after he spent much of 2023 fighting through a knee injury that required draining multiple times a week, Nick Shook of NFL.com reports.
Crosby set career highs in combined tackles (90) and sacks (14.5) last season despite spending much of the campaign hampered by a bursa joint issue. The 26-year-old underwent a procedure to correct it in January after the season ended and began rehabbing it soon after, which went "incredible," according to Crosby.

19h agoCoach Andy Reid indicated Monday that Rice is expected to remotely participate in the initial stage of the Chiefs' voluntary offseason program via virtual meetings, NFL.com reports.
Per Adam Teicher of ESPN.com, Rice -- who is is facing one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury and six counts of collision involving injury stemming from his involvement in a car crash in Dallas last month -- turned himself in to police last week and was subsequently released on bond. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the league has been closely monitoring developments related to the incident, while Reid noted that it remains to be seen whether the wideout will participate later in the spring when the team's offseason program moves to Kansas City. "I want to keep gathering the information from the law enforcement people,'" Reid said Monday. "We'll just see where everything goes from there (and) let the process take place."

11m agoBird (0-1) allowed one hit and one unearned run across 0.2 innings Monday against the Phillies.
Bird entered the game after other high-leverage options in the Rockies bullpen, most notably Justin Lawrence. With a runner starting the frame on second base, Bird got two quick outs before allowing a single that plated the game-winning run. The Rockies have shuffled reliever roles to begin the season, but Bird still has the only save for the team. It's unclear if he is truly in the mix for saves, as he has allowed at least one earned run in three of his nine appearances and has a 1.66 WHIP with just a 4:3 K:B across 9.2 innings.

16m agoLawrence allowed one hit and struck out one in a scoreless inning Monday against the Phillies.
Lawrence entered the game in the seventh inning of a tied game to face the sixth through eighth hitters in the Phillies lineup. He's made six appearances on the season and entered in non-traditional closer situations in three of his last four outings. Jake Bird has the only save to this point for the Rockies, and he also pitched the 10th inning of Monday's loss.

Joshua Lowe TB RFRays' Josh Lowe: Beginning rehab stint Thursday
26m agoLowe (oblique) is slated to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham on Thursday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Best of all, Rays manager Kevin Cash said that Lowe might not need too much time at Triple-A given how well he's been feeling. Lowe has been playing in games at extended spring training, and it sounds like he's moved past the Grade 1 right oblique strain that shelved him to begin the season. A return before the end of April would seem to be back on the table for Lowe, who hit 20 homers and stole 32 bases in a breakout 2023 campaign.

26m agoSimpson (elbow) is expected to throw a bullpen session later this week, MLB.com reports.
Simpson opened the season on the 15-day injured list while recovering from left elbow neuritis, but he appeared in line for close to a minimum-length stay on the shelf after he was able to begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Jupiter on April 6. However, he experienced a setback during that one-inning outing and hasn't pitched since. The setback doesn't appear to be a major one given that Simpson should get back on the mound soon, but he still may be around a week away from restarting his rehab assignment.

Xavier Edwards MIA 2BMarlins' Xavier Edwards: Still on mend from foot infection
30m agoEdwards (foot) is healing up after a recent follow-up appointment with a podiatrist, but he remains without a clear timeline to resume baseball activities, MLB.com reports.
Edwards didn't appear in any Grapefruit League games after March 5, but he resumed hitting and throwing at the Marlins' spring training complex in late March before he was later revealed to be dealing with a foot infection. He's been shut down from activities ever since, but after his recent appointment was apparently positive, he could be cleared to start working out again soon. Edwards likely won't be ready to return from the 10-day injured list for at least another couple of weeks.

The 27-year-old open St. Paul's season on the injured list with turf toe, but he recently completed a three-game rehab assignment with Single-A Fort Myers. Larnach will take the roster spot of Matt Wallner, who is being demoted after a 2-for-25 start to the campaign.

Giannis Antetokounmpo MIL PFBucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo: Doubtful to begin series
2h agoESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Bucks are preparing to be without Antetokounmpo (calf) for the beginning of their series against the Pacers.
This is in line with previous reporting, as there doesn't appear to be much optimism about Antetokounmpo appearing in the first couple games of the series. Wojnarowski adds that the Bucks are hopeful Antetokounmpo can return later in the series with constant treatment, but this is a fluid situation.

14h agoSarr left Monday's Game 3 of the G League Finals against the Maine Celtics due to an ankle injury, Jared Weiss of The Athletic reports.
Sarr was involved in a collision while pursuing a rebound, and he ultimately needed to be carried to the locker room. His return to Monday's clash seems unlikely given the circumstances in which he exited.

Malik Monk (knee) and Kevin Huerter (shoulder) represent notable absences for Sacramento, although there should still be no shortage of drama, as three of Golden State's four regular-season meetings versus the Kings this year were decided by exactly one point.

Golden State will be traveling to Sacramento for Tuesday's showdown, returning to the scene of the crime where Curry dropped 50 points (20-38 FG, 7-18 3Pt) in a victorious Game 7 of last year's first-round series between these teams. Additionally, Curry averaged 31.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists in four games against the Kings this season.

19h agoWood (knee) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Pelicans, Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Wood has been sidelined since undergoing an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee in March, and he'll remain sidelined as the Lakers begin postseason play Tuesday. It's unclear if he'll be available at any point if the team advances in the postseason.

Vanderbilt's defensive efforts were a key part of the Lakers' run to the Western Conference Finals last season. Vanderbilt hasn't played since Feb. 1, so his continued absence shouldn't impact coach Darvin Ham's rotation.

Coghlan hasn't seen any NHL action this season, but he's produced offense at a high rate for a defenseman in the AHL. The 26-year-old has recorded 16 goals and 25 assists in 59 games in the minors. He could see his first NHL action of the season against the Blue Jackets on Tuesday.

Comtois hasn't seen any NHL action this season, but he's been solid in the AHL. The 25-year-old has registered 19 goals and 24 assists in 62 games played with Chicago. Carolina may be resting some key players for the team's regular-season finale against Columbus on Tuesday, so Comtois could see his first NHL action of the season against the Blue Jackets.

25m agoReimer will defend the road net Tuesday against the Canadiens, according to Daniella Bruce of the Red Wings' official site.
Reimer has won four of his last five outings, including a 32-save effort in Saturday's 5-4 overtime victory over Toronto. He has a 10-8-2 record this season with a 3.07 GAA and a .905 save percentage across 24 appearances. Montreal is tied for 26th in the league this campaign with 2.81 goals per contest.

38m agoJenner (personal) won't be in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus Carolina, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports.
Per Blue Jackets reporter Dave Maetzold, coach Pascal Vincent said Monday that it would be up to Jenner as to whether or not he would play against the Hurricanes, and the 30-year-old vet has evidently decided to stay out of the lineup for the final game of the season. Jenner will finish the campaign having picked up 22 goals and 35 points through 58 contests.

Greaves has gone 2-6-0 in limited NHL action this season, but he's posted a decent .906 save percentage behind a poor Blue Jackets team over that stretch. He'll try to secure his third career NHL victory in a rough home matchup with a red-hot Hurricanes squad that's won five straight games.
