Royce Freeman LAR RB
Cowboys' Royce Freeman: Picked up by Dallas
7h agoFreeman signed a one-year contract with the Cowboys on Tuesday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
Freeman spent his first three seasons with the Broncos before before stops with the Panthers, Texans and Rams the last three years. The journeyman tallied 319 yards and two touchdowns on the ground in Los Angeles last year across 14 games. Dallas lost Tony Pollard to free agency, so the running back room is currently filled with the likes of Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn (ankle), Malik Davis and Snoop Conner. Thus, Freeman will presumably have an opportunity to carve out a role for himself. However, the team could still opt to invest at the position in the draft.

Trent Taylor CHI WR
49ers' Trent Taylor: Returns to The Bay
10h agoTaylor signed a one-year contract with the 49ers on Tuesday, Lindsey Pallares of the team's official site reports.
Taylor started his career in San Francisco before a two-year stay with the Bengals and spending the 2023 campaign with the Bears. The 29-year-old will likely have the opportunity to earn a role in the return game with the departure of Ray-Ray McCloud in free agency this offseason.

Trent Taylor CHI WR
Trent Taylor: Could return to The Bay
11h agoTaylor has talked to the 49ers about a potential return to the team this offseason, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Taylor was selected by San Francisco in the fifth round of the 2017 Draft and spent three seasons there before stops in Cincinnati and Chicago. The 49ers do currently have a void in their return game, with Ray-Ray McCloud now in Atlanta, which is likely where the interest in Taylor lies.

Deshaun Watson CLE QB
Browns' Deshaun Watson: Throwing full speed
12h agoWatson (shoulder) said Tuesday he's already resumed "throwing full speed" but that he's uncertain how large a workload he'll handle during OTAs and minicamp, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Watson clarified that certain members of the Browns' medical staff are in favor of a more conservative approach to the quarterback's recovery from right shoulder surgery, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram, which would wait until training camp to have him fully practice. Still, Watson has been fully forthright in his confidence to be available for the Browns' season opener, and there appear to be no real worries about his Week 1 status. In case Watson misses part of the offseason, or struggles during the fall, Cleveland can lean on newly-signed, experienced backups Jameis Winston and Tyler Huntley.

Odell Beckham Jr. BAL WR
Odell Beckham: Nothing imminent with Miami
13h agoDolphins general manager Chris Grier said Tuesday that there's "nothing imminent" on a deal between Beckham and the team, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
Beckham was reportedly extended a contract offer by Miami after visiting with the team back in March, but it doesn't appear that a signing is around the corner. The 31-year-old is coming off a forgettable 14-game season with the Ravens, in which he put up a 35-565-3 receiving line, but he could find more success as a No. 3 option behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. It could be that Beckham will need to wait until after the dust of the 2024 NFL Draft has settled to find a landing spot.

Jaylen Waddle MIA WR
Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Fifth-year option to be exercised
13h agoGeneral manager Chris Grier said Tuesday that he expects the Dolphins to pick up Waddle's fifth-year option, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
The Dolphins have consistently stated a desire to come to terms with Waddle on a long-term contract, and Grier specifically dismissed trade rumors earlier this offseason. The third-year pro has recorded three straight 1,000-yard seasons to begin his career, becoming the first wideout to do so in franchise history, and there's little question of his value as a No. 2 read behind Tyreek Hill. Picking up Waddle's fifth-year option will keep him under contract with the Dolphins for two more seasons.

Luis Garcia HOU SP
Astros' Luis Garcia: Throwing bullpen sessions
1m agoGarcia (elbow) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, MLB.com reports.
Garcia is working his way back from Tommy John surgery and has resumed throwing bullpen sessions in April. He's still several months away from a return to the mound, as he'll need to continue to build up his arm strength before embarking on a lengthy rehab assignment.

Tyler Fitzgerald SF SS
Giants' Tyler Fitzgerald: Swipes fourth bag
27m agoFitzgerald went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Marlins.
Fitzgerald spelled Thairo Estrada at second base for this contest. After an unimpressive start to the season, Fitzgerlad has four steals over his last five games while going 5-for-12 with three extra-base hits in that span. The 26-year-old provides cover around the infield and can also play in center, though the Giants' outfield hasn't varied much this season. Fitzgerald doesn't have an obvious path to playing time in the Giants' righty-heavy infield, so he's likely to remain a utility player unless he commands a larger role with his hitting.
-
Matt Chapman SF 3B
Giants' Matt Chapman: Goes deep in loss
31m agoChapman went 2-for-4 with a solo home run a double in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Marlins.
Chapman has two homers over the last four games and four on the year. The third baseman's blast Tuesday opened the scoring in the second inning. His power is a welcome sight after he hit just 17 homers in 2023, but he's batting just .205 with 11 RBI, 12 runs scored, a stolen base and three doubles through 18 contests so far in 2024.
-
Ryan Walker SF RP
Giants' Ryan Walker: Handed loss Tuesday
33m agoWalker (1-2) allowed three runs on two hits and two walks over two-thirds of an inning to take the loss versus the Marlins on Tuesday.
Walker got into trouble in the sixth inning and was unable to complete the frame. Taylor Rogers got the last out, but the Giants didn't recover from the damage. Walker had allowed just two runs over his first 9.1 innings of the season before Tuesday's sloppy outing. He's at a 4.50 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 10:3 K:BB through 10 innings while adding one hold over 10 appearances. Walker is a bit buried on the leverage ladder, so it's unlikely he'll be able to consistently rack up saves or holds.

Landon Knack LAD SP
Dodgers' Landon Knack: Primed for big-league debut
40m agoKnack will be recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City to start Wednesday against the Nationals, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed after Tuesday's win that Knack will make his major-league debut Wednesday in the series finale against Washington. A second-round pick out of East Tennessee State in 2020, Knack advanced to Triple-A last season and has posted a 3.22 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 54:22 K:BB in 13 total starts for Oklahoma City (58.2 innings). Knack has joined the team in Los Angeles but will need to be officially added to the 26-man roster ahead of Wednesday's game.
-
Jared Jones PIT SP
Pirates' Jared Jones: Throws five scoreless
1h agoJones threw five scoreless innnigs during Tuesday's loss against the Mets while allowing one hit and striking out seven batters. He did not factor into the decison.
Jones was dominant in his fourth career start, needing just 56 pitches to get through five innings while allowing just one batter to reach base. The 22-year-old likely could have continued pitching further into the game, but the Pirates' plan was always to limit him to five innings Tuesday. He departed with a 1-0 lead, but Pittsburgh's bullpen was unable to keep the Mets' offense quiet, leading to a 3-1 defeat and a no-decision for Jones. The right-hander now boasts a 3.13 ERA and 0.78 WHIP alongside a 32:2 K:BB ratio across 23 innings.
-
Kessler Edwards SAC SF
Kings' Kessler Edwards: Logs garbage time minutes in win
1h agoEdwards ended with one rebound in two minutes during Tuesday's 118-94 Play-In Game win over the Warriors.
Edwards closed the game Tuesday, handed a couple of garbage time minutes as the Kings eliminated the Warriors. It's been a disappointing season for Edwards and given his limited role, it is hard to see him featuring too much, even if the Kings advance to the playoffs.
-
Keon Ellis SAC SG
Kings' Keon Ellis: Shines bright in victory
1h agoEllis recorded 15 points (5-8 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, five assists, three blocks and three steals in 39 minutes during Tuesday's 118-94 Play-In Game victory over the Warriors.
Ellis continued his improbable rise Tuesday, helping the Kings to a comfortable victory over the Warriors. He has been a revelation on the defensive end for Sacramento, highlighted once again by his six combined steals and blocks. They will now face the Pelicans in a do-or-die contest with a spot in the playoffs up for grabs.
-
Keegan Murray SAC PF
Kings' Keegan Murray: Leads all scorers in win
1h agoMurray ended with 32 points (10-20 FG, 8-13 3Pt, 4-4 FT), nine rebounds and two steals over 39 minutes during Tuesday's 118-94 Play-In Game win over the Warriors.
Murray torched the Warriors to the tune of 32 points, including eight three-pointers. The Kings led from start to finish, sending Golden State home in emphatic fashion. They will now head to New Orleans where the Pelicans await, with both teams trying to secure the eighth and final playoff spot.
-
Moses Moody GS SF
Warriors' Moses Moody: Plays well off bench
1h agoMoody contributed 16 points (5-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 4-5 FT), three rebounds and one assist over 15 minutes during Tuesday's 118-94 Play-In Game loss to Sacramento.
Moody was arguably the best player on the court for Golden State on a night that saw their season come to an end. After an unconvincing start to the season, Moody was able to carve out a meaningful role down the stretch, perhaps an indication that he could be in for an uptick in playing time next year. Whatever direction the coaching staff chooses, it is clear they need to lean into their youth with their veteran core now well beyond their best.
-
Trayce Jackson-Davis GS C
Warriors' Trayce Jackson-Davis: Rough night despite start
1h agoJackson-Davis amassed two points (1-1 FG) and one rebound in 11 minutes during Tuesday's 118-94 Play-In Game loss to Sacramento.
Jackson-Davis got the starting nod Tuesday but was limited to just 11 minutes in the loss. He was simply outclassed here, resulting in the Warriors leaning more into their veterans in an attempt to get the victory. While it has been a disappointing season for Golden State, Jackson-Davis has been a positive, carving out a consistent role on a team in need of a youth movement.
-
Klay Thompson GS SG
Warriors' Klay Thompson: Ice cold in loss
1h agoThompson produced zero points (0-10 FG, 0-6 3Pt), four rebounds and one assist over 32 minutes during Tuesday's 118-94 Play-In Game loss to the Kings.
Thompson turned in arguably his worst performance of the season as the Warriors' disappointing season came to an end at the hands of the Kings. Despite a few bright spots throughout the year, it appears Thompson's days of being a reliable offensive threat could be behind him. His future remains a little clouded but no matter where he is next season, it is unlikely he will have much fantasy value outside of points and threes.
-
Ilya Solovyov CGY D
Flames' Ilya Solovyov: Picks up helper
36m agoSolovyov notched an assist in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Canucks.
This was Solovyov's first point in three outings during this stint on the NHL roster. The 23-year-old defenseman has three helpers, eight shots on net, 10 hits and 14 blocked shots over nine appearances in his first taste of the NHL this season. Solovyov will likely have a chance to win a full-time job in training camp in the fall.
-
Nazem Kadri CGY C
Flames' Nazem Kadri: Posts assist in loss
38m agoKadri registered an assist and three shots on goal in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Canucks.
Kadri has seven points over his last three outings and 16 points across his last 11 games. He set up Brayden Pachal for the Flames' lone tally in Tuesday's loss. Kadri is up to 29 goals, 46 helpers, 269 shots on net, 57 hits and a minus-1 rating through 81 contests as Calgary's top forward this season.
-
Brayden Pachal CGY D
Flames' Brayden Pachal: Nets lone goal in loss
40m agoPachal scored a goal on two shots, added two hits and blocked two shots in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Canucks.
Pachal broke up Thatcher Demko's shutout bid midway through the third period. The defenseman has two points over his last three games, but Pachal has struggled to generate consistent offense even with more playing time as a Flame. For the season, he has two goals, seven points, 51 shots on net, 130 hits, 63 blocked shots, 51 PIM and a minus-3 rating over 49 appearances between Calgary and Vegas.
-
Jacob Markstrom CGY G
Flames' Jacob Markstrom: Falls to former team
41m agoMarkstrom allowed four goals on 31 shots in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Canucks.
The Flames' offense went cold against a tough opponent, leaving Markstrom with his fourth straight loss. The 34-year-old goalie dropped to 23-23-2 with a 2.78 GAA and a .905 save percentage through 49 contests this season. The Flames host the Sharks on Thursday to finish the campaign, but the team hasn't announced if Markstrom or Dustin Wolf will start the finale.
-
Teddy Blueger VAN C
Canucks' Teddy Blueger: Sends shorthanded assist
43m agoBlueger logged a shorthanded assist in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Flames.
The center set up Tyler Myers' tally in the first period. Blueger's last two points have come on the penalty kill, and four of his 28 points this season have been of the shorthanded variety. The 29-year-old center has added 97 shots on net, 95 hits and a plus-7 rating through 67 contests. Blueger is defensively responsible and a decent depth scorer, so he shouldn't have trouble sticking in the Canucks' lineup in the playoffs.
-
Pius Suter VAN C
Canucks' Pius Suter: Offers helper Tuesday
45m agoSuter notched an assist and three shots on goal in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Flames.
Suter forced a turnover and sent J.T. Miller in on a breakaway for a third-period tally. With a goal and an assist over his last two games, Suter is finding a little more success on offense after a stretch where he had just one helper over 12 appearances. The 27-year-old forward is at 29 points, 103 shots on net, 53 hits and a plus-17 rating through 66 outings overall.
