Royce Freeman LAR RB
Cowboys' Royce Freeman: Picked up by Dallas
2h agoFreeman signed a one-year contract with the Cowboys on Tuesday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
Freeman spent his first three seasons with the Broncos before before stops with the Panthers, Texans and Rams the last three years. The journeyman tallied 319 yards and two touchdowns on the ground in Los Angeles last year across 14 games. Dallas lost Tony Pollard to free agency, so the running back room is currently filled with the likes of Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn (ankle), Malik Davis and Snoop Conner. Thus, Freeman will presumably have an opportunity to carve out a role for himself. However, the team could still opt to invest at the position in the draft.

Trent Taylor CHI WR
49ers' Trent Taylor: Returns to The Bay
5h agoTaylor signed a one-year contract with the 49ers on Tuesday, Lindsey Pallares of the team's official site reports.
Taylor started his career in San Francisco before a two-year stay with the Bengals and spending the 2023 campaign with the Bears. The 29-year-old will likely have the opportunity to earn a role in the return game with the departure of Ray-Ray McCloud in free agency this offseason.

Trent Taylor CHI WR
Trent Taylor: Could return to The Bay
6h agoTaylor has talked to the 49ers about a potential return to the team this offseason, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Taylor was selected by San Francisco in the fifth round of the 2017 Draft and spent three seasons there before stops in Cincinnati and Chicago. The 49ers do currently have a void in their return game, with Ray-Ray McCloud now in Atlanta, which is likely where the interest in Taylor lies.

Deshaun Watson CLE QB
Browns' Deshaun Watson: Throwing full speed
8h agoWatson (shoulder) said Tuesday he's already resumed "throwing full speed" but that he's uncertain how large a workload he'll handle during OTAs and minicamp, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Watson clarified that certain members of the Browns' medical staff are in favor of a more conservative approach to the quarterback's recovery from right shoulder surgery, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram, which would wait until training camp to have him fully practice. Still, Watson has been fully forthright in his confidence to be available for the Browns' season opener, and there appear to be no real worries about his Week 1 status. In case Watson misses part of the offseason, or struggles during the fall, Cleveland can lean on newly-signed, experienced backups Jameis Winston and Tyler Huntley.

Odell Beckham Jr. BAL WR
Odell Beckham: Nothing imminent with Miami
9h agoDolphins general manager Chris Grier said Tuesday that there's "nothing imminent" on a deal between Beckham and the team, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
Beckham was reportedly extended a contract offer by Miami after visiting with the team back in March, but it doesn't appear that a signing is around the corner. The 31-year-old is coming off a forgettable 14-game season with the Ravens, in which he put up a 35-565-3 receiving line, but he could find more success as a No. 3 option behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. It could be that Beckham will need to wait until after the dust of the 2024 NFL Draft has settled to find a landing spot.

Jaylen Waddle MIA WR
Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Fifth-year option to be exercised
9h agoGeneral manager Chris Grier said Tuesday that he expects the Dolphins to pick up Waddle's fifth-year option, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
The Dolphins have consistently stated a desire to come to terms with Waddle on a long-term contract, and Grier specifically dismissed trade rumors earlier this offseason. The third-year pro has recorded three straight 1,000-yard seasons to begin his career, becoming the first wideout to do so in franchise history, and there's little question of his value as a No. 2 read behind Tyreek Hill. Picking up Waddle's fifth-year option will keep him under contract with the Dolphins for two more seasons.

Jordan Hicks SF SP
Giants' Jordan Hicks: No-decision vs. Marlins
2m agoHicks didn't factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks over five innings in a loss to the Marlins. He struck out six.
Hicks was solid for the most part Tuesday, holding the Marlins scoreless through his first three innings before Miami scored twice in the fourth to tie the game. It's the first time Hicks has allowed more than a single run in a start this year -- he's 2-0 with a 1.57 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 18:6 K:BB through his first four outings (23 innings). Hicks will look to get back in the win column in his next start, currently lined up for Sunday versus the Diamondbacks.
-
Ezequiel Duran TEX 1B
Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Makes third straight start
5m agoDuran started at designated hitter and went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Tigers.
Duran made a third consecutive start and has hit safely in all three, going 4-for-12. Prior to this run, Duran's playing time was sporadic. The injury to third baseman Josh Jung (thumb) created an opportunity, but the lefty-hitting Josh Smith has been the main beneficiary.
-
Rafael Devers BOS 3B
Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Exits with knee discomfort
7m agoDevers was removed from Tuesday's game against Cleveland due to left knee discomfort, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.
Devers was 1-for-2 with two RBI and two walks before Bobby Dalbec replaced him at third base ahead of the eighth inning. It remains unknown how serious Devers' injury is, but it's possible the Red Sox hold him out of the lineup for a game or two, as he has also missed time recently due to an injured shoulder.
-
Tanner Scott MIA RP
Marlins' Tanner Scott: Locks down second save
13m agoScott earned the save Tuesday against the Giants, working around a pair of walks while striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning.
Scott didn't make things easy on himself, issuing a pair of one-out walks before striking out Thairo Estrada and inducing a game-ending pop out from Wilmer Flores to grab his second save of the year. It was ultimately a nice bound-back outing from Scott after the left-hander allowed three runs while blowing a save against Atlanta in his last appearance Sunday. Overall, Scott is 0-3 with a 4.15 ERA, 1.85 WHIP and an alarming 25.6-percent walk rate through his first 8.2 innings this year. While the left-hander remains the top closing option in Miami, Scott hasn't seen many save chances with the Marlins struggling out of the gate.
-
Wyatt Langford TEX DH
Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Moves to cleanup
18m agoLangford batted cleanup and went 1-for-4 in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to Detroit.
Langford has moved around the middle of the order, but this was the first time batting cleanup. Adolis Garcia, who normally bats fourth, was given a rest day. The rookie is slugging just .313 with two extra-base knocks, but Langford has hit safely in 13 of 16 contests.
-
Chris Paddack MIN SP
Twins' Chris Paddack: Hit hard in Baltimore
28m agoPaddack (0-1) took the loss Tuesday against the Orioles, allowing nine runs on 12 hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out two.
While Paddack's 5.1 innings pitched were a season-high, he didn't miss many bats, allowing three runs in the second inning and another four in the fourth en route to his first loss of the year. The 28-year-old Paddack's ERA is up to 8.36 with a 2.07 WHIP and 9:5 K:BB through his first three starts (14 innings) this year. He's currently slated to face the White Sox at home in his next outing.
-
Zion Williamson NO PF
Pelicans' Zion Williamson: Heads to locker room
19m agoWilliamson went to the locker room with 3:13 remaining in the fourth quarter of Tuesday's game versus the Lakers, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Williamson came up grimacing after scoring a layup over Anthony Davis and was forced to head to the locker room. If Williamson is unable to return, he will end the contest with a dominant performance of 40 points, 11 rebounds, five assists one steal and one block in 36 minutes.
-
Chris Paul GS PG
Warriors' Chris Paul: Heads back to bench
39m agoPaul isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's Play-In Tournament game against the Kings, John Dickinson of 95.7 The Game San Francisco reports.
Stephen Curry will replace Paul in the starting five Tuesday after missing Golden State's previous contest with an ankle injury. Paul is averaging 8.2 points, 5.4 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 23.3 minutes across his last 10 appearances coming off the bench.
-
Jonathan Kuminga GS PF
Warriors' Jonathan Kuminga: Goes to bench
39m agoKuminga will come off the bench for Tuesday's game against the Kings, John Dickinson of 95.7 The Game San Francisco reports.
Draymond Green is good to go after missing the season finale, so this is an expected move for Kuminga. Despite this move to the second unit, Kuminga figures to see a healthy amount of minutes going forward.
-
Cam Reddish LAL SF
Lakers' Cam Reddish: Ruled out Tuesday
3h agoReddish (ankle) won't play in Tuesday's Play-In Tournament game versus the Pelicans, Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet reports.
Reddish has been downgraded from questionable to out Tuesday due to a right ankle sprain. In his absence, Taurean Prince and Rui Hachimura should continue to receive increased playing time.
-
Anthony Davis LAL C
Lakers' Anthony Davis: Good to go for primetime
3h agoDavis (back) has been cleared for Wednesday's Play-In Tournament game against New Orleans, Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet reports.
Davis' aggravating his back/hip spasms in Sunday's win over New Orleans is troubling given that he has battled the affliction all season, but he appears to be no worse for the wear. A rematch against New Orleans pits Davis versus Zion Williamson and Jonas Valanciunas, while Davis has averaged 21.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.0 blocks across four contests versus the Pelicans this season.
-
LeBron James LAL SF
Lakers' LeBron James: Set to play Tuesday
3h agoJames (ankle) is available for Tuesday's Play-In Tournament game against the Pelicans, Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet reports.
James has been upgraded from probable to available Tuesday despite dealing with left ankle peroneal tendinopathy. The superstar forward averaged 31.0 points, 12.5 assists, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.0 blocks in 37.5 minutes across his two appearances against New Orleans this season.
-
Jesper Fast CAR RW
Hurricanes' Jesper Fast: Exits contest Tuesday
17m agoFast (undisclosed) didn't return to Tuesday's game versus the Blue Jackets after requiring help to get off the ice following a crash into the board, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
The Hurricanes rested about half of their roster, but Fast still played and sustained an injury in the regular-season finale. Head coach Rod Brind'Amour did not have an update after the game, leaving Fast's status for Game 1 of the playoffs in doubt.
-
Joel Hanley CGY D
Flames' Joel Hanley: Still out Tuesday
22m agoHanley (undisclosed) won't play Tuesday versus the Canucks, per the NHL media site.
Hanley will miss his seventh straight game. He has one more chance to return before the end of the campaign, as the Flames host the Sharks on Thursday.
-
Morgan Barron WPG C
Jets' Morgan Barron: Departs contest
2h agoBarron (lower body) won't finish Tuesday's game versus the Kraken.
Barron was ruled out shortly after the start of the first intermission. The team did not provide more details, but it's possibly a precautionary move given the time of year. If Barron doesn't play Thursday versus the Canucks, Cole Perfetti or David Gustafsson are most likely to enter the lineup.
-
Michael Pezzetta MON LW
Canadiens' Michael Pezzetta: Won't return to Tuesday's game
2h agoPezzetta (upper body) won't finish Tuesday's game versus the Red Wings.
Pezzetta will end the campaign with 12 points in 61 appearances. He rarely saw anything more than fourth-line minutes with the Canadiens this season. Pezzetta is under contract for 2024-25, so he should be in contention to once again fill a bottom-six spot.
-
Thomas Chabot OTT D
Senators' Thomas Chabot: Exits season finale
2h agoChabot (upper body) won't finish Tuesday's game versus the Bruins.
Chabot will have all offseason to heal from the injury, as Tuesday's game is the Senators' season finale. The defenseman has battled injuries all season, which ultimately limited him to 30 points in 51 appearances.
-
Philip Broberg EDM D
Oilers' Philip Broberg: Up with big club
2h agoBroberg was promoted from AHL Bakersfield on Tuesday.
Broberg's recall gives the Oilers an additional depth option if they want to rest players for the final two games. The defenseman failed to record a point over his first 10 NHL outings this season.
