Josiah Deguara GB TE
Jaguars' Josiah Deguara: Inking with Jacksonville
2h agoThe Jaguars are slated to sign Deguara to a one-year contract, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports.
Deguara spent the last four seasons handling a depth role in Green Bay, where he was drafted in the third round back in 2020. His versatility both as a blocker and on special teams will boost his chances of earning playing time behind Evan Engram, but Deguara peaked with a 25-245-2 receiving line in 2021 and doesn't appear to have much fantasy potential.

J.K. Dobbins BAL RB
J.K. Dobbins: Lines up AFC West visit
4h agoDobbins (Achilles) is visiting the Chargers on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Dobbins, who was recently medically cleared for football activities, is coming off a left Achilles tear after previously missing all of 2021 and about half of the 2022 season due to a torn ACL and proceeding issues. That medical history undercuts otherwise impressive career numbers for Dobbins, who has averaged 5.8 yards per carry and scored 13 touchdowns since entering the NFL in 2020 as a second-round pick by the Ravens, but only suited up for 24 games in that span. Reuniting with offensive coordinator Greg Roman could make the most sense as a landing spot for Dobbins, but it's possible he doesn't garner more interest than a potential prove-it deal. The Chargers signed Gus Edwards,a former Baltimore backfield mate of Dobbins, early in free agency.

Derek Stingley Jr. HOU CB
Texans' Derek Stingley: Slow start, strong finish
4h agoStingley recorded 39 tackles, 13 passes defensed and five interceptions over 11 regular-season games in 2023.
Stingley, a second-year cornerback and 2022 first-round draft pick, suffered a Week 3 hamstring that created issues for the defense early on, but upon his return Week 10, Stingley made an impact. He had interceptions in three straight games, including a Week 13 win over the Broncos. Stingley will return as Houston's top cornerback in 2024.

DeAndre Houston-Carson HOU DB
DeAndre Houston-Carson: Enters free agency
4h agoHouston-Carson recorded 41 tackles, five passes defensed, two interceptions and one fumble recovery over 13 regular-season games in 2023.
Houston-Carson started the season in Baltimore then finished up in Houston, where he played a career-high 447 snaps on defense. Injuries on the back end led to Houston-Carson playing a big role for the Texans, including two pivotal plays in a Week 10 win over the Bengals. He entered unrestricted free agency during the offseason.
-
Jimmie Ward HOU SAF
Texans' Jimmie Ward: Injury-marred 2023
4h agoWard (quadriceps) recorded 50 tackles, three passes defensed, one interception and one forced fumble over 10 games in 2023.
Ward, a team captain, was beset by injuries all season long. He missed time due to hip, hamstring and shoulder injuries before a quadricep ended his season in December. In between the setbacks, Ward played well, and his one interception was an end-zone pick that sealed a win over Denver. Houston went 6-4 in games he played and could use his stabilizing presence on the back end. Ward turns 33 in July and will be entering his 11th season.

Henry To'oTo'o HOU LB
Texans' Henry To'oTo'o: Contributes in rookie season
5h agoTo'oTo'o recorded 61 tackles, two passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery over 15 regular-season games in 2023.
To'oTo'o, a fifth-round draft pick out of Alabama, started from Week 2 to Week 7 and played in both of Houston's playoff games during his rookie season. The Texans lost two linebackers to free agency -- Blake Cashman and Denzel Perryman -- which leaves To'oTo'o as a projected starter for 2024. However, Houston is expected to address the position during the offseason.

Yosver Zulueta TOR SP
Blue Jays' Yosver Zulueta: Removed from 40-man roster
4m agoThe Blue Jays designated Zulueta for assignment Thursday, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
A spot on the 40-man roster needed to be cleared for Brian Serven. Zulueta has a big arm, but his control problems could scare teams off from taking a chance on him via waivers.
-
Brian Serven TOR C
Blue Jays' Brian Serven: Added to roster
6m agoThe Blue Jays selected Serven's contract from Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
Serven will be the Jays' backup catcher while Danny Jansen (wrist) is sidelined. He's a career .195/.248/.314 hitter.
-
Cooper Hummel SF DH
Giants' Cooper Hummel: Designated for assignment
9m agoThe Giants designated Hummel for assignment Thursday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Hummel loses his spot on the 40-man roster as the club set its Opening Day roster. He will now go through the waiver process.
-
Luis Matos SF CF
Giants' Luis Matos: Optioned to Triple-A
11m agoThe Giants optioned Matos to Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
It had looked like Matos could sneak onto the roster with Austin Slater banged up, but Slater wound up being healthy enough to avoid the injured list. Matos will play every day at Sacramento.
-
Adrian Morejon SD RP
Padres' Adrian Morejon: Optioned to Triple-A
17m agoThe Padres optioned Morejon to Triple-A El Paso on Thursday, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.
Morejon was on the roster for the team's two games in South Korea against the Dodgers but didn't make the cut for its domestic opener. He'll work in relief at El Paso.

Jose Urquidy HOU SP
Astros' Jose Urquidy: Officially placed on injured list
29m agoThe Astros placed Urquidy on the 15-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to March 25, with a right forearm strain, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
He suffered the injury during an appearance in a minor-league game in mid-March. Urquidy hopes to be cleared to begin a throwing program before long. Even if that happens, he's unlikely to be ready before the end of April.

Kevin Love MIA PF
Heat's Kevin Love: Expected to play Friday
3m agoCoach Erik Spoelstra said Love (heel) didn't participate in Thursday's practice due to personal reasons but is expected have his status upgraded for Friday's game versus the Trail Blazers, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Love hasn't played since Feb. 27 while dealing with a right heel contusion. However, if the veteran forward is upgraded to available Friday, he will likely continue to serve as Miami's backup center to Bam Adebayo.

Jalen Williams OKC SF
Thunder's Jalen Williams: Double-doubles in OT loss
8m agoWilliams ended with 23 points (9-23 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, 10 assists, one block and two steals over 38 minutes during Wednesday's 132-126 overtime loss to the Rockets.
Williams ended as the Thunder's second-best scorer behind Josh Giddey, but what stood out the most was his playmaking ability, as the 10 assists were just the third time he dished out double-digit dimes this season. Williams should remain one of the Thunder's focal points on offense ahead of Friday's matchup against the Suns, regardless of whether Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (quadriceps) is able to return or not.
-
Josh Giddey OKC PG
Thunder's Josh Giddey: Posts 31 points in OT loss
9m agoGiddey amassed 31 points (12-20 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 7-11 FT), seven rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal in 32 minutes during Wednesday's 132-126 overtime loss to the Rockets.
The Thunder were without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (quadriceps) on Wednesday, but Giddey stepped up and delivered one of his best, most complete performances of the season. Giddey might enjoy another heavy workload on offense against the Suns on Friday if Gilgeous-Alexander is ruled out.

Jeremy Sochan SA SF
Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: All-around performance in win
11m agoSochan ended Wednesday's 118-111 win over the Jazz with 17 points (7-16 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), nine rebounds, two assists, one block and five steals over 36 minutes.
Sochan recorded a season-high five steals during Wednesday's win over the Jazz. Despite struggling with his efficiency, the 20-year-old forward was one rebound shy of posting his second straight double-double. Sochan has helped form a formidable defensive frontcourt alongside Victor Wembanyama.
-
Dillon Brooks HOU SF
Rockets' Dillon Brooks: Goes for 20 points Wednesday
11m agoBrooks posted 20 points (8-18 FG, 3-11 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal over 43 minutes during Wednesday's 132-126 overtime win over the Thunder.
Brooks wasn't really efficient from three-point range, but he sill found a way to reach the 20-point mark while leaving his mark in other areas of the game as well. The rise of Jalen Green has taken some of Brooks' offensive touches away, but the veteran forward has still scored in double digits in all but one of his last nine appearances, averaging 13.0 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in that span.
-
Amen Thompson HOU PG
Rockets' Amen Thompson: Records monster double-double
13m agoThompson had 25 points (10-18 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 5-6 FT), 15 rebounds, four assists and one steal in 39 minutes during Wednesday's 132-126 overtime win over the Thunder.
Thompson moved to the starting lineup on March 12 and has looked productive, showing the ability to make an impact on both ends of the court. He has three double-doubles in his last eight starts, and he should remain a reliable two-way presence for an on-the-rise Rockets team. Thompson is averaging 15.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game during Houston's ongoing 10-game winning streak.
-
Alex Nylander CLB LW
Blue Jackets' Alexander Nylander: Unavailable versus Penguins
4m agoNylander (upper body) will not be available to play versus Pittsburgh on Thursday, Wes Crosby of NHL.com reports.
Nylander was dealt from the Penguins five weeks ago, in exchange for Emil Benstrom and has made the most of his change of scenery. Nylander has eight goals and 11 points in 15 games with the Blue Jackets and is seeing almost three minutes more of ice time than he did in five scoreless games with the Penguins earlier in the season.
-
Stuart Skinner EDM G
Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Defending crease against Kings
9m agoSkinner will be in goal versus Los Angeles at home Thursday, Tony Brar of Oilers TV reports.
Skinner has given up three or more goals in each of his last four outings but still managed to secure a 2-1-1 record. With a supporting cast that includes world-class center Connor McDavid, the 25-year-old Skinner should be able to skate by without having to be perfect. Simply good enough will do for the Edmonton native Skinner.
-
Colin Blackwell CHI C
Blackhawks' Colin Blackwell: Not playing Thursday
15m agoBlackwell (upper body) will miss his fourth straight game Thursday versus Ottawa, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
The good news is that Blackwell has started skating again. He has eight goals and 12 points in 39 games this season.
-
Daniil Tarasov CLB G
Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: In blue paint Thursday
15m agoTarasov will guard the cage for Thursday's road clash with Pittsburgh, Wes Crosby of NHL.com reports.
Tarasov has started three of the Jackets' last seven outings, as the team has decided to split the workload between the 25-year-old and Elvis Merzlikins. Looking ahead to next season, Tarasov could be in the mix for the starting job, especially if the team honors Merzlikins's prior trade request. For now, Tarasov should get the nod in every other game.
-
Torey Krug STL D
Blues' Torey Krug: Game-time decision Thursday
21m agoKrug (illness) will take warmups Thursday before a decision is made on his status versus Calgary, per Lou Korac of NHL.com.
Krug is the Blues' top offensive defenseman with three goals and 31 assists in 71 appearances this season. Look for Tyler Tucker to enter the lineup, should Krug be deemed unavailable to play.
-
Petr Mrazek CHI G
Blackhawks' Petr Mrazek: Guarding cage versus Sens
21m agoMrazek will patrol the road crease against Ottawa on Thursday, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Mrazek has secured victories in three of his last four contests while registering a 3.26 GAA and .892 save percentage. The veteran backstop continues to see the bulk of the workload for the Hawks despite having youngster Arvid Soderblom on the roster and little to play for other than pride.
