45m agoSutton wants a new contract and hasn't reported to voluntary OTAs, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Sutton has two seasons remaining on a four-year, $60 million extension, scheduled for a $13 million base salary in 2024 ($2 million guaranteed) and then $13.5 million in 2025 (no guarantees). He scored a career-high 10 touchdowns in 16 games last season, though 90 targets were his fewest since 2020 -- the year he suffered an ACL tear Week 1 -- and he still hasn't come close to matching his career-high 1,112 yards from 2019. The 28-year-old won't necessarily hold out from mandatory team activities later this spring, but the situation is at least worth keeping an eye on until he gets an extension or contract adjustment, or otherwise reports to the Broncos. There's been no indication of his Week 18 ankle injury lingering into the offseason, with the main concern at this point being the lack of a starting-caliber QB on Denver's roster. The team also appears thin at wide receiver, where the starting job across from Sutton could end up going to any of Josh Reynolds, Marvin Mims, Tim Patrick (Achilles) or Brandon Johnson.

Jean-Charles was not tendered by New Orleans as a restricted free agent, but he will return to the team nonetheless. After spending his first two seasons in Green Bay, the 25-year-old suited up for eight games between the 49ers and Saints in 2023. He accumulated four tackles (three solo) in the process. The Appalachian State product will now look to make an impression during offseason workouts.

17h agoThe Packers re-signed Wilson on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
An undrafted rookie in 2023, Wilson made the Packers' initial 53-man roster following the preseason and even mixed into seven regular-season games, taking 14 carries for 85 yards and hauling in four of five targets for 23 yards while working behind Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon. Green Bay swapped out Jones for Josh Jacobs and also retained Dillon this offseason, meaning Wilson is poised for a similar role in the coming campaign, barring potential additions to the backfield in free agency or the draft.

McCloud finished his 2023 campaign on the sidelines after getting injured in the team's season finale against the Eagles. Healthy now, the Notre Dame product can focus on being ready for a third campaign in New York after signing his free-agent tender.

17h agoCrosby (knee) said, "I'm feeling better than I ever have," Monday, after he spent much of 2023 fighting through a knee injury that required draining multiple times a week, Nick Shook of NFL.com reports.
Crosby set career highs in combined tackles (90) and sacks (14.5) last season despite spending much of the campaign hampered by a bursa joint issue. The 26-year-old underwent a procedure to correct it in January after the season ended and began rehabbing it soon after, which went "incredible," according to Crosby.

18h agoCoach Andy Reid indicated Monday that Rice is expected to remotely participate in the initial stage of the Chiefs' voluntary offseason program via virtual meetings, NFL.com reports.
Per Adam Teicher of ESPN.com, Rice -- who is is facing one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury and six counts of collision involving injury stemming from his involvement in a car crash in Dallas last month -- turned himself in to police last week and was subsequently released on bond. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the league has been closely monitoring developments related to the incident, while Reid noted that it remains to be seen whether the wideout will participate later in the spring when the team's offseason program moves to Kansas City. "I want to keep gathering the information from the law enforcement people,'" Reid said Monday. "We'll just see where everything goes from there (and) let the process take place."

9m agoPages is expected to be recalled by the Dodgers, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
Pages, 23, is off to a scorching start at Triple-A Oklahoma City, slashing .371/.452/.694 with five home runs and 15 RBI. Jason Heyward has had trouble getting over the hump with his back injury, so Pages could receive regular reps in a corner outfield spot while Heyward recuperates. The right-handed hitter can also handle center field, so he would be an option versus left-handed pitching there on days James Outman is out of the lineup.

18m agoGipson-Long (forearm/groin) is receiving further medical evaluation, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.
Gipson-Long was on a rehab assignment while coming back from a groin injury but had to be pulled off of it last week after experiencing right forearm tightness. That he continues to be evaluated isn't typically a good sign, but the Tigers should have more clarification on his status later this week.

Alejandro Kirk TOR CBlue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Likely to lose work to Jansen
18m agoKirk is expected to move to the bench for Tuesday's game against the Yankees and will likely lose out on starts to Danny Jansen (wrist), who was reinstated from the injured list Monday, ESPN.com reports.
Between wins over the Rockies on Sunday and Yankees on Monday, Kirk reached base seven times, but he's still put together an underwhelming .200/.293/.220 slash line through 58 plate appearances while operating as the Blue Jays' primary backstop so far this season. Though Jansen remained on the bench Monday, he's on track to make his season debut Tuesday and looks poised to handle the larger portion of a timeshare behind the plate with Kirk. Jansen is the more polished defender of the two, and though Kirk has an All-Star appearance and Silver Slugger on his resume, he's been a slightly below league-average hitter since the start of the 2023 season (91 wRC+, .301 wOBA over 480 plate appearances).

Danny Jansen TOR CBlue Jays' Danny Jansen: Likely to debut Tuesday
24m agoJansen (wrist) is expected to join the Toronto lineup and make his season debut in Tuesday's game against the Yankees, ESPN.com reports.
After missing the first two and a half weeks of the season while recovering from a fractured right wrist suffered in a March 13 spring training game, Jansen was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Monday. He didn't play in Monday's series-opening 3-1 victory, however, as Alejandro Kirk drew the nod behind the plate and went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run scored. Though Kirk has now reached base seven times over the Blue Jays' last two games, he's still slashing an ugly .200/.293/.220 through 58 plate appearances. Given that he's regarded as the superior defender of the two catchers and in light of Kirk's struggles at the dish, Jansen is expected to emerge as the Blue Jays' No. 1 backstop now that he's healthy.

24m agoMcNeil went 0-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Monday's win over the Pirates.
The 32-year-old sparked a game-winning rally in the eighth inning by getting to first base after a third strike wild pitch by Aroldis Chapman, eventually stealing third and coming around to score on a Harrison Bader double. The stolen base was McNeil's first of the season, but he has yet to get going at the plate, slashing just .204/.328/.286 through 15 games with a homer, five RBI and eight runs.

29m agoLindor went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double and a run scored in Monday's win over the Pirates.
It's been a tough start to the campaign for the shortstop, but Lindor is beginning to come around. He's delivered back-to-back two-hit games, and over the last eight contests he's batting .257 (9-for-35) with two doubles, a homer, four RBI, six runs and a sharp 4:1 BB:K.

35m agoESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Bucks are preparing to be without Antetokounmpo (calf) for the beginning of their series against the Pacers.
This is in line with previous reporting, as there doesn't appear to be much optimism about Antetokounmpo appearing in the first couple games of the series. Wojnarowski adds that the Bucks are hopeful Antetokounmpo can return later in the series with constant treatment, but this is a fluid situation.

13h agoSarr left Monday's Game 3 of the G League Finals against the Maine Celtics due to an ankle injury, Jared Weiss of The Athletic reports.
Sarr was involved in a collision while pursuing a rebound, and he ultimately needed to be carried to the locker room. His return to Monday's clash seems unlikely given the circumstances in which he exited.

Malik Monk (knee) and Kevin Huerter (shoulder) represent notable absences for Sacramento, although there should still be no shortage of drama, as three of Golden State's four regular-season meetings versus the Kings this year were decided by exactly one point.

Curry and Draymond Green (knee) have both been cleared for action Tuesday, leaving Gary Payton (calf) as the Warriors' lone absence. Golden State will be traveling to Sacramento for Tuesday's showdown, returning to the scene of the crime where Curry dropped 50 points (20-38 FG, 7-18 3Pt) in a victorious Game 7 of last year's first-round series between these teams. Additionally, Curry averaged 31.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists in four games against the Kings this season.

18h agoWood (knee) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Pelicans, Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Wood has been sidelined since undergoing an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee in March, and he'll remain sidelined as the Lakers begin postseason play Tuesday. It's unclear if he'll be available at any point if the team advances in the postseason.

Vanderbilt's defensive efforts were a key part of the Lakers' run to the Western Conference Finals last season. However, he has been unavailable for most of 2023-24, playing just 29 regular-season games (six appearances). Vanderbilt hasn't played since Feb. 1, so his continued absence shouldn't impact coach Darvin Ham's rotation.

11m agoStamkos scored a goal on a team-high seven shots in Monday's 4-2 loss to the Sabres.
Stamkos got Tampa on the board early in the second period, beating Eric Comrie with a wrister off a Buffalo turnover to tie the game 1-1. The 34-year-old Stamkos has now reached the 40-goal threshold in seven of his 16 NHL seasons. He's been on fire down the stretch, tallying 11 goals and 14 points in his last nine games. Stamkos will enter Wednesday's season finale with 79 points (40 goals, 39 assists) across 78 games this year.

11m agoEkman-Larsson (upper body) won't play in Tuesday's regular-season finale, Colby Guy of Florida Hockey Now reports.
Ekman-Larsson is considered day-to-day with his upper-body issue, so there's a chance he'll be ready for Game 1 of Florida's upcoming first-round playoff series. He's picked up 32 points, 123 shots and 105 hits through 80 games in a bottom-four role this season.

Flyers' Samuel Ersson: Starting Tuesday
14m agoErsson will guard the home crease Tuesday against Washington, per Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia.
Ersson was excellent in his last start, stopping all 20 shots in a 1-0 win over the Devils on Saturday. The 24-year-old has had an up-and-down year thus far, recording an .890 save percentage and a 23-18-7 record in 50 appearances. He will have a tough matchup against Washington, which would clinch a playoff spot with a win.

Carter Verhaeghe FLA CPanthers' Carter Verhaeghe: Playing regular-season finale
23m agoVerhaeghe (upper body) will be in the lineup for the Cats' regular-season finale versus Toronto on Tuesday, Jameson Olive of the Panthers' official site reports.
Initial reports suggested that Verhaeghe wouldn't be cleared until the postseason but it appears he is slightly ahead of schedule. Prior to his six-game absence, the 28-year-old Toronto native was rolling offensively with three goals on 16 shots and two assists in his last six outings. Verhaeghe should be in line for a top-six role unless coach Paul Maurice decides to limit his minutes for this first game back.

25m agoCozens tallied two goals and added an assist in Monday's 4-2 win over Tampa Bay.
Cozens opened the scoring 1:26 into the first period, firing a loose puck over the shoulder of Andrei Vasilevskiy before adding a shorthanded marker in the second. The 23-year-old Cozens would grab a third point with an assist on Zach Benson's tally in the third. Cozens entered Monday's contest with just one goal and four points over his previous 14 games. He'll wrap up the season with 18 goals and 47 points in 79 games, a significant step back from his 31-goal/68-point campaign in 2022-23.

Pierre Engvall NYI LWIslanders' Pierre Engvall: Two helpers in win
35m agoEngvall notched a pair of assists in Monday's 4-1 victory over New Jersey.
Engvall set up Jean-Gabriel Pageau's opening tally midway through the first period before adding a second assist on a Kyle MacLean goal in the third. It's just the second multi-point game of the year for Engvall (his first since Nov. 22), though he's been productive down the stretch with five points (two goals, three assists) in his last six games. Overall, the 27-year-old winger has 10 goals and 28 points through 74 games this season.
