As a president, you have to have patience -- change doesn’t come quickly – and you have to be able to take a shot. When you respond, however, you have to pack a punch. Last week, President Barack Obama took a shot from Michael Jordan when Jordan, in an interview with Ahmad Rashad, said he would play golf with Obama, but then changed his mind with this eye-opener: “He’s a hack and I’d be all day playing with him.... I never said he wasn’t a great politician. I’m just saying he’s a sh---y golfer.”
It took him a week – perhaps the president was distracted with keeping his head above water during Tuesday’s Republican wave -- but Obama playfully shook his finger at MJ during a pre-midterm election interview with host Earl Stokes on Milwaukee radio station WJMR. “There is no doubt that Michael is a better golfer than I am,” Obama said. “Of course if I was playing twice a day for the last 15 years, then that might not be the case.”
Pretty mild comeback, right? But then Obama put some pepper in his presidential putdown porridge and fed His Airness a big spoonful. Listen for Obama’s ouch line – and a prediction (sort of) of who will prevail in Sunday night’s Packers-Bears game. To skip to the juicy part, move to the 7:10-minute point in the interview.
