Making a return to the Olympics for the first time since 1904, the game of golf took its biggest hit on Tuesday when the world's No. 1 player Jason Day (Australia) announced he would be skipping the event due to concerns over the Zika virus.
Day joins a list of players who have opted out for various reasons over the last few months.
The winner of the 2015 PGA Championship, Day is a 10-time winner on the PGA tour, including The Players Championship in May. After a brief stint from October to November last year, Day regained the World Golf Ranking's No. 1 status in March from Jordan Spieth.
