O-D Bowl: Cameron Echols-Luper

FOX Sports NEXT is Scout.com is on the scene in Houston for the 2012 Offense-Defense All-American Bowl. While there, we caught up with Auburn athlete Cameron Echols-Luper, who is committed to play football for Texas A&M. He shared a few thoughts.

Seems that Auburn (AL) athlete Cameron Echols-Luper is all about what is best for the team. Doing a number of duties for his high school team brought him more than a few accolades, but it was one thing that mattered to him.

"Season was great and much better when you get a ‘W' at the end of the night. For me, I did not have the best season, but we had more wins than losses and that is what it is all about," Echols-Luper said. "I think I threw for 1,800 and I had 72 carries for 898 yards. I threw 17 touchdowns to only three interceptions and I also returned a punt for a touchdown."

For the O-D Bowl, and All-American game that will be played at Reliant Stadium in Houston Sunday, the 6-foot, 195-pound Echols-Luper will line up at the wide receiver position, which is where he will play when he gets to Texas A&M as well.

And while he is looking forward to getting to College Station and joining that team, he is embracing his time amongst some of the top players in the country for this week.

"There are a lot of talented guys down here and we are all coming together. The camaraderie is making us a team," Echols-Luper said. "Overall, me being down here is making me better and more physical, which will prepare me more for when I go down to Texas A&M and play with the best of the best."

He continued on making the move to the college.

"I will play receiver and be a return specialist when I get to college. I love playing receiver and I love Texas A&M at heart," Echols-Luper said. "Whatever the coaches ask me to do I'll do as long as I can contribute to wins for my team."
