Louis Watson has SEC Offer

Louis Watson, from Mobile-St. Paul's, (Ala.), is currently concentrating on his track season and is competing in several national events. Football remains on his mind as well. His father, Louis Watson Sr., talks with Scout.com about his son's recent success in track and his first scholarship offer.

"Louis received his first offer from Mississippi State last Friday," said Louis Watson, Sr. from Mobile, (Ala.). "He was real excited about his first offer. He is running track, but he wants to play football in college."

"We are looking at some other schools, but if he doesn't receive anymore offers he will be going to Mississippi State. Alabama, Auburn and Florida are all wanting him to come visit."

Louis Watson, Sr. was a star on the gridiron as well. He was a receiver for Mississippi Valley State and played along side Jerry Rice. He signed as a free agent with the Cleveland Browns and played one year in the Canadian Football League for Ottawa.

The proud father is excited the see his son's recruitment beginning to take flight, but for now Louis Jr. is having a phenomenal track season.

"Louis ran a 10.85 in the 100 meters the other day," Watson said. "He has been invited to the Nike Invitational in Landover Maryland. He is going to that, and he has been invited out to California for a track meet June 5."

"We went down to Baton Rouge a few weeks ago for a track meet. He won the 55 meter and the 400 meter race. We visited LSU that day as well. Everything was real nice over there."

The first football scholarship offer is in hand and more are expected for this Mobile speedster.
