Tide Offers Mobile DE

The University of Alabama has not seen a lot of success in the Mobile, (Ala.) area in recruiting. The class of 2008 has added two commitments in the early stages with Davidson running back Jermaine Peryear and running back Ivan Matchett. Another Port City product has been offered a scholarship with several schools showing interest.

"I have an offer from Alabama," Willie Bohannon said from Mobile-Blount, (Ala.). "They offered me a while back. They sent me an email and informed me about the offer. Coach Ron Middleton emailed me two days after their Junior Day. I haven't been able to speak to coach [Nick] Saban on the phone yet."

"I like Alabama a lot. They have a lot to offer. I like the way they treat their players. I like all the small things they do for their players."

The 6-2, 225-pound defensive end recorded 57 tackles and 15 sacks during his junior season. Bohannon's sophomore season was equally impressive with 70 tackles and 18.5 sacks. He was awarded honorable mention All-State his sophomore and junior year. He was selected first team All-Region his junior season and was second team All-Region his sophomore year.

Bohannon talked of the other schools recruiting the aggressive defensive star as well.

"I am hearing from Auburn, Clemson, LSU, Ole Miss, Kentucky, West Virginia, Southern Miss, and of course Alabama," he said. "I don't really have any favorites. I won't know until after the summer. I plan on going to a few senior camps."

"I went to Alabama's Junior Day. I went to Auburn's spring game as well. Auburn's spring game was pretty good. They want me to come up there for a football camp. They told me they liked my highlight film."

Bohannon plans to attend the Scout.com All-American Combine in Atlanta May 26.
