Spain Park Lineman has First Offer

Jeff Benson, from Hoover-Spain Park has his first scholarship offer and a favorite. caught up with Benson to talk about the latest recruiting news...

"I received an offer from Air Force during spring practice," Jeff Benson explained. "I finished practice and coach Hendrix was waiting on me when I came off the field. He told me Air Force wanted me to play football for them."

"I really like coach Hendrix. He's a great coach. I even had a coach from another school I have been talking to tell me what a great guy he is. I also like Air Force. I know the service after you finish college is a concern for a lot of people, but it doesn't bother me a bit."

"As a matter of fact I'm all about the military--coming out of school as an officer in the Air Force would be a good opportunity for me. I plan to take an unofficial visit during June."

While Air Force is Benson's favorite at least two other schools have his interest as well.

"I'm going to camp at Vandy this weekend," Benson said. "I'm going to take a look around while I'm there and see how everything looks. Coach Caldwell is my recruiting coach at Vanderbilt. I like him as well."

"I'm also considering a camp at Stanford. I really like the education at Stanford, as well as Vanderbilt, but the offer from Air Force has set the bar very high. I'm all about the military."

"I'm going to wait a while to see if anything else comes up that I might be interested in. I will take my time before making my final decision."

Benson also talked about his upcoming senior season at Spain Park High School.

"It is so great to be a part of Spain Park. It's really exciting right now. We have William Green, which has drawn a lot of interest to our school. We had a different coach at spring practice every day. It has been a lot of fun. I can't wait to get started this fall," he said.

"Coach Grass is doing a great job. He does everything he can to make us a better team. He has brought in new coaches and really worked hard to improve our program. He brought in coach (Perry) Swindall this year, and he is a great coach. I think he will help our defense this year. I know our defense seemed much harder to run against this spring. I'm just looking forward to stating football season." source for Alabama high school football.
