Reasons Not to Stay Home Friday Night

High school football kicks off the fourth week of the season with some exciting games all across the state. brings you some key match-ups if you are traveling around the state to see a college game this weekend, or just looking to see a great high school game Friday night.

If you are in Tuscaloosa this weekend for the University of Alabama's game against Georgia on Saturday, don't miss the battle of unbeatens at Roy Johnson Jr. Stadium when seventh ranked Tuscaloosa County pays a call on Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa. Tide verbal commitment John Michael Boswell starts at offensive tackle for County High.

If you are a Georgia Bulldog you might want to travel up the road a bit to see your verbal commitment offensive lineman Ben Jones and his undefeated Bibb County team face Brookwood at Choctaw Stadium.

Pleasant Grove isn't that far from the Capstone, and Tide verbal commitment Brandon Lewis and fellow tight end Kedric Murry will put their fifth ranked undeafeated record on the line against No.12 Jess Lanier (3-0) at the Pleasant Grove Athletic Complex.

Never miss a chance to see the Cade/Pippen/Williams show at undefeated second- ranked Central Tuscaloosa. The show will run in stadiums near you this fall. They travel this week to face the Holt Ironmen at Woody Clements Stadium. This is another option for Tide fans.

If you are at Auburn University to check out Saturday's match-up with New Mexico State check out the third ranked Opelika Bulldogs at home at Bulldog Stadium. They will prep against Northview for a battle with reigning state champ and No.1 rated Prattville next week.

Eufaula is not too far away, and the No.9 nine ranked Tigers will host undefeated 12th ranked Greenville at Tiger Stadium. Defensive lineman Courtney Upshaw is having a great season and a commitment to Alabama.

If you are traveling to Jacksonville State to see the Gamecocks open conference play against Eastern Kentucky, try the 3-0 Cleburne County Tigers who will welcome region opponent and unbeaten 11th ranked Beauregard. The game is played at L.E. Bell Field.

Gamecock fans might also try Oxford/Lamar Field to see the undefeated Oxford Yellow Jackets take on the No.8 (3-0) Gadsden City Titans. Titans' linebacker Jerrell Harris is one of the best in the country.

The No.7 ranked Donoho of Anniston (3-0) is another good team to see, and they will host undefeated Appalachian at Lantz Field.

The Trojans are on the road this week if you live in the Troy area. If you need your football fix, try the reigning 3A state champion Pike County Bulldogs at Bulldog Stadium. Darrell Reynolds will give you a good show against Straughn.

The second ranked Daphne Trojans, with Auburn verbal commitment Reggie Hunt at running back and Pat White's little brother Coley at quarterback, is a good game to see in the southern part of the state. The Trojans will take on a resurrected Baldwin County team (2-1).

Leroy, 2A state champs and No.1 ranked, will travel to Georgiana's Hammond Field in a region matchup. Junior quarterback Clint Moseley may soon become a hot commodity for college coaches.

No. 2 ranked Lanett will host a high flying bunch from Highland Home, and one team will face their first defeat. Linebacker Lamanski Ware is fun to watch for the Panthers. Look for this game at Morgan-Washburn stadium.

The dynasty of Sweet Water will put their No.1 ranked three win record on the line when Coach Stacy Luker's '06 state champs face his coaching protégé's No.8 Linden Patriots (3-0) at Nolan Atkins Stadium.

Hollenburg stadium is a good spot to see the undefeated Wetumpka Indians host the No.1 ranked Prattville Lions if you are near the capitol of Alabama. Wetumpka led Prattville into the second half of last year's match-up and gave them a scare. They could do it again.

North Alabama has a great match-up in the No.2 ranked Golden Tigers of Russellville hosting the No.7 ranked J.O. Johnson Jaguars. Both teams are loaded with college prospects.

Cordova, the third ranked team in 3A and undefeated, hosts a barely beaten Gordo at Hudson Kirby stadium.

No.4 ranked (tie) Winfield is back home at Estes Hudson Stadium where they will face a battle of undefeated teams when West Blocton comes calling.

Hazlewood, in Town Creek, (Ala.), is famous for producing University of Alabama football stars. They are undefeated and ranked No.4 in the 1A Coaches Poll. No team has managed to score a point on this defense in the early part of the season. They will host a 3-0 region opponent in Brilliant at Hazlewood Field.

The Shelby County area might want to check our the fourth (tie) ranked Calera (3-0) host Marbury (3-0). Calera's quarterback running back duo of Winterbottom and Lacey are a good show, and throw in offensive lineman and Arkansas verbal commitment Josh Tatum on the other side. The Crimson Tide has been knocking on his door recently.

Just a little south of Shelby County is the No.3 ranked Maplesville Red Devils at George Walker Stadium where they host No.9 ranked Wadley (3-0). Both teams have experienced offensive lines, and this should be a great battle in the trenches.

These are numerous reasons to get out and support these players on Friday nights, and entertain yourself to boot. You never know when you might see the next Bo Jackson, Andre Smith or Jamarcus Russell. source for Alabama high school football.
