Theodore at Hoover

Coach Bill Meredith's Bobcats have a great season going thus far with a 6-3 overall record and 5-2 in Region 1 play. They will enter the playoffs next week as the second seed behind undefeated McGill-Toolen. They will face Auburn (6-3) in the opening round of the playoffs.

Two of Theodore's losses came against top ranked Prattville and No.3 ranked McGill-Toolen in the's Coaches Poll. The third loss was a five point deficit to Blount who is also playoff bound.

Freshman quarterback Chris Nelson will face a mighty task to lead his team into Hoover and look for a win, but this is experience building for the youngster. Behind Nelson is senior running back Demetrius Thomas who carried the ball 30 times last week in a win over Mary Montgomery.

Austen O'Conner, 6-4, 260 defensive end, has the size and the ability to play with this Hoover squad.

There is really no predicting the Bucs' emotions this week with the news of successful football coach Rush Propst's resignation. It is hard to see the Bucs losing this one, unless the distractions are just too great or they start looking ahead to first round playoff opponent Florence (8-1).

Hoover's dual quarterback system with senior Tyler Ray and junior Simon Propst has worked well for the Bucs. Even the cynics that believe two quarterbacks means you have no quarterback have to agree it certainly hasn't hurt them.

The loss of Tristan Purifoy is not so good for this Hoover team. They have struggled in the games he has not participated. Not the least of which was a win over once victorious Minor and a tougher than the record shows Homewood (2-6). The talented receiver was a threat every time he touched the ball.

The Hoover defense is different from last year's squad that featured two division one players on the defensive front. This is a blue-collar bunch that just seems to get the job done and gives the offense the opportunity to win every week. rates Hoover a nine-point favorite in the contest and that seems about right. source for Alabama high school football.
