The regular season is in the books and many teams tried to keep their unblemished records just that, perfect. Others wanted the momentum going into the play-offs and still others wanted the same for next season. presents "The Stars of Alabama." Player of the Week: Brett Booth

Brett Booth
Tuscaloosa County

Junior Brett Booth traveled to Opelika and made hay against one of the top defenses in the state last Thursday night. The Dawgs chased Booth around the backfield, but like his feline counterpart, he always managed to find a way to claw out and make a big play. Booth really shined on third and long converting three of those five attempts.

Booth completed 14-of-24 passes for 323 yards and four touchdowns with another score on the ground. Booth started last year as a sophomore and passed for 1,934 yards and has passed that mark at 2,254 yards thus far this season.

Coach Spence McCracken (Opelika) commented after the game it was the best performance by a quarterback he had seen in all of his years coaching. That's 30+ years.

County High completed their undefeated regular season with a 10-0 record and will play Pell City at home in the first round of the state play-offs. A win this week, and they will face the winner of the Mountain Brook-Huntsville game.

Jerome Brown
Running Back
Tuscaloosa County

For the second week, junior Jerome Brown makes this list with 100 yards rushing and 130 yards receiving. Brown scored two touchdowns for the Wildcats in their win over Opelika.

Michael Abernathy
Running Back

Russellville finished their season with a 9-1 record and a thumping of once defeated 6A Florence 41-13. Michael Abernathy carried the ball 34 times for 225 yards and four touchdowns. Russellville will face a tough Erwin squad in the first round of the state playoffs.

Trey Martin

Senior Trey Martin led his Tiger team completing 17-of-23 pass attempts for 323 yards and three touchdowns. He added an eight-yard score on the ground. For the entire regular season Martin completed 117-of-198 passes for 1,983 yards and 18 touchdowns. The Tigers are 7-3 and will travel to Winfield for the first round of the state playoffs.

Travoris Broyles

This Sulligent team lost an opening round game against 3A Winfield and obviously didn't like it. They have rolled off nine straight victories making them the region champion. The last win came over 3A Lamar County and senior Travoris Broyles recorded 14 tackles in the game with one for a loss. Sulligent will host Gaylesville in the first round of the play-offs.

Antonio Johnson
Hale County

Senior Antonio Johnson completed 14-of-24 passes for 339 yards and four touchdowns against Northside to close out the season. He also recorded 132 yards rushing on 19 carries with a touchdown and added an interception. Hale County will travel to Wicksburg for the first round of the state play-offs.

Jeremy Yates
Colbert Heights

Andrew Almon
Shoals Christian

Jeremy Yates always seems to put up jaw-dropping numbers, and this week's matchup against Shoals Christian was no different. They won the game 45-33, but we couldn't mention Yates without the other senior quarterback from Shoals Christian.

Jeremy Yates completed 29-of-45 passing attempts for 385 yards and four touchdowns while Andrew Almon completed 35-of-49 for 395 yards and five touchdowns.

Colbert Heights will host West End Walnut-Grove and Shoals Christian will travel to Ragland for the first round of the play-offs.

Akevious McCall
Running Back

Akevious McCall lit it up in a loss against Billingsley. The sophomore rushed for 283 yards on 21 carries and scored a touchdown. Holtville did not make the state play-offs.

Kendrick Dennis
Defensive Back

Senior Kendrick Dennis played 86 snaps (not including special teams) in the Tigers game against Americus-Sumter, Georgia and picked off three passes and also scored offensively on a 61-yard short pass he turned into a big one. He also had a touchdown pass called back on an illegal block behind him. Dennis is the leading receiver for the Tigers. Eufaula won the game 17-14 and will host the Tigers of Fairfield in the first round of the play-offs.

Dexter Daniels

Dexter Daniels recorded 22 tackles from the defensive side of the ball and scored a touchdown offensively. The 6-3, 215-pound senior and his Bulldogs are the region champs and will host Sunshine in the first round of the play-offs.

Jerrell Harris
Gadsden City

Jerrell Harris' Titans won a big game over undefeated Jess Lanier (25-21) and will go into the play-offs as the region champ. Harris recorded nine tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery for a touchdown. Harris has scholarship offers from several division one schools including in-state schools Auburn and Alabama. Gadsden City will host Hillcrest of Tuscaloosa this week in the first round of the play-offs.

Tyler Ray
Senior Tyler Ray's Bucs faced play-off bound Theodore in an emotion-filled game last week and came up big. Completing 11-of-15 pass attempts for 283 yards and three touchdowns. Hoover will travel to Florence for the first round of the play-offs.

Marcus Corbin
Kyle Mitchell
Running Back

Marcus Corbin is a three-year starter for the successful Lions with a 26-4 record. The senior completed seven of nine passing attempts for 175 yards and four touchdowns. His season total is 71 completions of 130 attempts and 13 touchdowns with only two interceptions.

Senior Kyle Mitchell has been a starter for Brooks since eighth grade. He recorded three rushes for 34 yards and two receptions for 64 yards both for touchdowns. Mitchell has 32 carries this season for 538 yards (16.8 yards per carry) and 492 yards receiving on 20 catches (24.6 average per catch).

Brooks finished second in their region behind rival Deshler and will host Alexandria Friday in the first round of the play-offs.

Drew Luker
Quarterback/Defensive Back
Sweet Water

Senior Drew Luker picked off a Brad Smelley (ACA) pass and also scored three offensive touchdowns in their 40-7 victory. He completed five of eight passing attempts for 93 yards. Sweet Water will host Providence Christian in the first round.

Dewayne Whitten

Junior Dewayne Whitten recorded 303 all-purpose yards against Whie Plains for their 10th win of the season. Whitten completed 18-of-25 attempts for 212 yards and two touchdowns. He rushed for 91 yards on eight carries. The signal caller also kicks for the Bears and notched a 27-yard field goal and two extra points and converted on a two point play.

Cottonwood will host Holy Spirit this week in the play-offs.
