Pinson Valley at Hueytown

The Pinson Valley Indians bring a 5-5 record into the first round of the playoffs against the 9-1 Hueytown Golden Gophers. Pinson Valley made its way into the playoffs due to forfeits by Huffman and Oxford. The Indians' defense definitely needs to show up for this one.

Hueytown has outscored opponents this season 426-160. They average over six touchdowns per game. Jeff Smith and his ninth ranked Gophers bring in a highly talented offense led by quarterback Jake Lindsey.

Joining him in the backfield is a running back by committee including Leonard Stephens, Calvin Young, Phillip Peoples, and Marquis Moore to name a few. All of these guys have rushed for touchdowns this season, and the Indians have a tough task ahead if they want to stop Hueytown.

The Gophers' defense is not too shabby either. They only give up 16 points per game. They keys to the game for Hueytown are to run the ball and control the clock on offense. On defense, they just need to play solid.

Some may say that Wayne Lee's Indians lucked up by getting into the playoffs but nonetheless, they are in.

Pinson Valley scores right around 16 points per game and give up about the same. That defense really needs to step up this week. The offense is led by quarterback Wes Gilmer and running back Austin Sellers. It's up to these guys to stay on the field and control the clock to keep the Gophers' offense on the sideline. source for Alabama high school football.
