ScoutSouth.com: Elite Jr. RB Talks Recruiting

The Cordova Blue Devils move to the 2nd round of the 3A state playoffs, and their leading rusher is Tim Simon. The junior phenom talks about the colleges already showing interest.

Tim Simon is 6-2, 200 pounds and runs a 4.45-40 yard dash. He has caught the attention from schools all over the Southeast. He tells ScoutSouth.com about the schools already lining up to recruit the talented youngster.

"I get mail everyday, and someone calls my coach and asked about me pretty often," Simon said from his home in Cordova, (Ala.).

"I have been receiving interest from Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Georgia, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Vandy, Kentucky and some other schools."

"The only coach I have talked to is Coach Saban at Alabama. I went down to an Alabama basketball game last year, and I spoke to him for a couple of minutes. We talked about different things. He told me to keep my grades up and that he would be watching me in the future."

Apparently the future is now for Alabama as well as several other schools around the South.

Simon finished the first round of the playoffs with 174 yards and four touchdowns on eight carries as Cordova defeated Slocumb in the contest.

Simon has a teammate, and cousin, who is a sophomore and his coach is already fielding questions about the talented athlete. Ryan Smith plays quarterback, and corner for the Blue Devils. Smith started as a freshman and led Cordova to the quarter final round of the playoffs in 2006 before losing a close contest to eventual state champ, Pike County.
