5A Region 1
St. Paul 's Episcopal
The additions to this region is an elevated 4A Esacambia County, the addition of Faith Academy to AHSAA and the move from 6A for John LeFlore. Gone are B.C. Rain and UMS-Wright who will move to classification 4A, and Williamson who will move to 6A.
5A Region 2
Greenville moves to Region 3 and Beauregard moves from 4A.
5A Region 3
Along with Greenville moving from Region 2, Carver Montgomery and Selma the two largest 5A schools will move over from 6A and Monroe County from 4A. Gone are Bibb County and Dallas County to 4A while Shelby County moves to Region 4 and Brookwood and McAdory move to Region 5. This region with have seven teams rather than the normal eight.
5A Region 4
Most of these teams were in Region 5 for the last two years including Briarwood, Chelsea, John Carroll, Moody, Sylacauga and Talladega . The old Region 5 loses Benjamin Russell to 6A and Anniston to 6A. Shelby County from Region 3. This is a seven member region.
5A Region 5
Here is our first nine-team region of the group, but not the last. This is the old Region 4. Brookwood and McAdory land here from Region 3, Carver Birmingham moved down from 6A, Central Tuscaloosa is elevated from 4A while Jess Lanier moves to 6A and Pleasant Grove to Region 6. West End has vacated a spot by moving to 4A.
5A Region 6
Brewer will move from Region 8 and Pleasant Grove from Region 4 (newly labeled Region 5). Gardendale moves to 6A. Another nine member region.
5A Region 7
Boaz and Madison County move here from 4A while Butler and Lee Huntsville move to Region 8.
5A Region 8
Decatur, West Point and Brewer vacate their spots in this region. Decatur goes back to 6A, West Point to 4A and Brewer to Region 6. In their places are East Limestone from 4A, Butler and Lee-Huntsville from Region 7.
6A Region 1
Williamson moves from 5A and replaces McGill-Toolen who moves to Region 2.
6A Region 2
This region boasts three of the eight teams still alive in the 2007 AHSAA playoffs with the addition of McGill-Toolen in place of John LeFlore who moved to 5A. This is a brutal seven member region.
6A Region 3
Central Phenix City
There are no changes to Region 3.
6A Region 4
This is another seven-member region. Carver Montgomery has moved to 5A and Benjamin Russell slid in their place from the same classification.
6A Region 5
Jess Lanier moves here from 5A and Minor switches from Region 6. Pelham and Thompson move to Region 6.
6A Region 6
This tough region boasts all four Northern 6A teams left in the playoffs for 2007 will add 5A Gardendale. That move may see some coaches looking for the antacid tablets come September. Hoover rival Thompson and Pelham replace Minor. This is a nine-member region now.
6A Region 7
This region remains unchanged.
6A Region 8
Another nine member region. Decatur returns to 6A play after a two-year hiatus in 5A.
