Alabama RB has Opportunities

J.O. Johnson's Jimmy Vaughn has seen his recruitment take flight over the last month, and as NSD draws near more schools are showing interest in the talented running back.

"I have been hearing from several schools since the dead period ended," Jimmy Vaughn said from his Huntsville, (Ala.) home.

"Mississippi State came by the school and talked to me. The coach said they really liked me and he wanted to take my film back to coach Croom. They are supposed to get back with me real soon."

"Coach Cignetti came by and offered me an invitation to walk-on at Alabama. If I don't get a full offer from someone else I might consider that. You never know, I might consider it even if I get an offer from someone else."

"Central Michigan has asked for my film. I sent film to them, Arkansas State and Minnesota."

"Middle Tennessee is recruiting me pretty hard, and they are supposed to come by my school in the next two weeks, along with Memphis. Both teams are supposed to visit me at school."

"I don't know what I'll do yet. I am going to wait and see what options I have over the next couple of weeks."

Vaughn helped lead his Jaguars to the quarter-finals of the Alabama 5A state playoffs before falling to Briarwood Christian in a hard fought game that came down to a couple of plays at the end.

Vaughn finished the season with just over 1,300 yards rushing with an average of just over eight yards per carry, and he scored 19 rushing touchdowns on the season.

Vaughn is 5-10, 195 pounds and consistently turns in 4.4s in the 40-yard dash. He also runs track for the Jaguars where he runs the 100, 200 and the 4X100 meter relay. His best time in the 100 came outdoors with a 10.8.
