David Isabelle Talks Decision

David Isabelle made the decision to play college football at UAB last week, and he isn't the only J.O. Johnson Jaguar with the opportunity to play college football, as the Jags may send as many as eight players into the college ranks. Isabelle tells ScoutSouth.com how he decided on the Blazers.

"I researched all the schools that were interested in me, and the more I looked into UAB the more I liked what I saw," David Isabelle said from his home in Huntsville, (Ala.).

"I was scheduled to visit Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, JSU and Alabama State, but I cancelled those trips after I committed to UAB."

"Some people told me I should have taken all my visits, but I'm comfortable with my decision. I liked the players I met on my official visit, the coaches and the academics."

"I am interested in majoring in Graphic Design, and they answered all the questions I had. I actually talked to someone with my major, and he explained everything to me. I really liked that."

"I had offers from Alabama State, JSU and UAB. Both Memphis and MTSU told me they had offers for me on my visit, and I had a verbal offer from Ole Miss until they had a coaching change. They had contacted me, but they hadn't talked about an offer."

"I'm very comfortable with my decision to attend UAB. Some other schools have come back and tried to get me to visit, but I told them I had to be a man of my word. I'm sticking with UAB."

Isabelle also took the time to tell ScoutSouth.com about other Jaguars who are expected to sign scholarships next Wednesday.

"Everyone knows about Jomarcus (Savage) committing to Auburn, but Jimmy Vaughn has an offer to walk-on at Alabama and an offer from UNA. Darius Graham has offers from Tuskegee and Stillman," he said.

"Jontavius President injured himself and missed a few games toward the end of the season, and I'm not sure about his offer to Ole Miss. He has offers from Texas Southern and Alabama State. He also has some SWAC schools looking at him. I think he will pick up some more offers between now and Wednesday."

Stillman came to our school last week and offered three of our guys, one being Big Graham, and the others were Travion Pruitt and DeShawn Hendrix. They committed to Stillman this week. We also have other guys that are walking on at different schools."

"I'm just very happy and proud for our team and our community. This is our biggest signing class in a very long time, and I'm just proud of everyone."

Isabelle also reports three 2009 prospects who were invited to attend Alabama's Junior Day this weekend. David's brother, Jeremy Isabelle, Fred McNeal and Mario McNeal were all invited by coach Cignetti of Alabama.

Jeremy is a wide receiver/defensive back at 6-1, 180 pounds with a reported time of 4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash. Fred McNeal played linebacker for the Jags this season and was noticed by several recruiters during the 2007 season. All three are currently receiving interest from several division one schools.
