ScoutSouth.com: DeMario McNeal

DeMario McNeal talks about his recent visit to the University of Alabama and other visits in the coming months.

"Me and Jeremy Isabelle went to Alabama to their Junior Day, and it was real good," DeMario McNeal said from Huntsville, (Ala.). "We toured the campus, went to the locker rooms, the weight room, and the rest of the facilities. It was all very nice."

"We went to the LSU/Bama basketball game. We got to talk to coach Cignetti and coach Saban. They want us to come back down to their camp later on this year."

Alabama isn't the only school showing interest in the 6-2, 225 pound linebacker (4.69, 40-yard dash) from J.O. Johnson High School. He tells ScoutSouth.com of others that are starting to recruit him as well.

"I've heard from Mississippi State, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss and Alabama," McNeal said. "Me and Jeremy are going to Junior Day at Mississippi State March 1st. One of the Mississippi State coaches came by the school and talked to us a while back and invited us to attend their Junior Day."

"I want to make it to as many camps as I can this summer, but I don't have a schedule of the camps I will try to attend."

While McNeal didn't grow up following any team in particular he admits to keeping up with a few schools over the years.

"I've always liked Alabama and Auburn, as well as Michigan, Florida, Florida State and Ohio State," he explained.

McNeal played linebacker and strong safety for the Jags this season, and yet he had solid stats while splitting time at the two positions.

"I had 45 tackles, four sacks, two forced fumbles and a lot of fumble recoveries. I'm not sure how many, but I had a lot," McNeal concluded.

DeMario McNeal projects as a linebacker at the collegiate level.
