Morgan Murphy played in nine games and posted some lofty stats in the process. He recorded 74 tackles, eight for a loss of yardage and 10 quarterback sacks. He also forced four fumbles in those nine games, while recording three sacks in a single game.
As a tight end he caught nine balls for 212 yards, two touchdowns and averaged 24 yards per reception. He also graded out at 84-percent blocking for the season.
Those numbers have several schools showing the 6-2, 190-pounder some serious interest.
"I've been hearing from UAB, Southern Miss, Ole Miss, Memphis and UNA," Murphy told us from his home in Monroeville, (Ala.).
"UAB, Southern Miss, Memphis and UNA all invited me to attend their Junior Day, but I haven't been able to visit due to baseball practice and tournaments."
"As soon as baseball season is over I am planning to visit some of these schools. I am also going to a few camps, but I don't know which ones at this point," Murphy explained.
While Murphy has no preference which side of the balls he plays, he admits he would like to hear from a couple of local colleges.
"I would like to hear from Troy and Auburn," he stated. "Right now UAB and Southern Miss are probably a little ahead of the others, but I'm still wide open to anything at this stage."
