ScoutSouth.com: Brandon Gottfried

Brandon Gottfried is the son of Alabama head basketball coach Mark Gottfried, which would lead one to believe he is all about basketball, but that isn't entirely true. Gottfried is a 6-4, 198-pound wide receiver for the Patriots, from American Christian in Tuscaloosa, (Ala.), and is receiving interest from schools around the area.

"I am getting some interest from Stanford, Auburn and Ole Miss," Brandon Gottfried stated. "I haven't been to any junior days or taken any unofficial visits this spring, but I plan to go to camps at Alabama, Ole Miss and Stanford."

"I also plan to go to an athletic training camp in Northern California, and I have been invited to attend the Scout.com combine."

While Gottfried is receiving interest from recruiters on the gridiron he is also receiving some interest from a couple of schools for his play on the hardwood.

"I have been hearing from Stanford and Yale as far as basketball goes, and I get a lot of calls from Alabama's head basketball coach," he chuckled.

When asked which sport he preferred Gottfried told ScoutSouth.com, "I don't know. I like football better when its football season. I like basketball better during basketball season, but I believe my future is in football."

As a member of the class of 2010 there is plenty of time to think of all the options which may become available.

"I really haven't thought about favorites at this time," Gottfried said. "I would love to play in the SEC or at a North Carolina, UCLA or Stanford. I have a lot of time to think about that."
