K.C. Orr

Speake High School is a small 1A school in Northwest Alabama, but they have been producing some very good talent since the arrival of Coach Heath Grimes. This year's team is no different with three prospects returning to the 2008 football team. caught up with one of them Monday night.

Defensive end/ defensive tackle prospect, K.C. Orr talks about his recruitment and his upcoming season.

"I am receiving interest from a lot of schools, but I don't have any offers yet," Orr reported from his home in Speake, (Ala).

"I am hearing from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Middle Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Marshall, Colorado, and I'm getting mail from Georgia."

"I have only been on one unofficial visit this spring. I went to Alabama's Junior Day, and I loved it. It was a lot of fun. I got to talk to coach Cignetti and coach Saban for a minute, and it was all good."

Orr is a 6-4, 235-pound prospect, and he plans to attend at least two camps this summer.

"I was invited to the Under Armour/ Elite camp last weekend, but I had church. We had a track meet the day before, so we were all a little tired from the night before," Orr explained.

"I plan to go to camp at Alabama and Auburn this summer, and I am going to try to go to some others if I can."

"I would like to go to Middle Tennessee and Georgia Tech. I have a cousin that plays on the girls basketball team over at Middle Tennessee. She [Starr Orr] plays shooting guard for them."

The Bobcats lost several players from the 2007 team which finished the regular season with a 9-1 record before losing in the second round of the 1A state playoffs.

"We lost our starting quarterback, our wide receiver and our leading tackler. They were all good players for us, but we have Demetrae Griffin, Dez Polk and myself returning. We have some good players coming up that should help us this year," K.C. Orr concluded.
