Alabama Lineman Offered

Austin Butler, from Southern Choctaw Academy, picked up his first offer recently from the Samford Bulldogs. He talked with ScoutSouth.com about the offer as well as some other schools staying in contact with the Toxey, Ala. lineman.

"Coach [Chris] Brasfield offered me from Samford," Austin Butler said. "He told me he was looking forward to seeing more of me at their camp, and that he hopes I come to Samford."

"I like Samford, but I don't want to make a decision right now. I want to see which other offers come along. I just want to play ball somewhere. I don't want to go to a school and sit on the bench for a few years. I want to beat out the guy in front of me."

Butler recently camped at Mississippi State. He talked about the experience in Starkville.

"MSU is probably sending me more stuff than anyone," Butler said. "We have a local guy [Brian Anderson] that was a lineman for State. It was cool getting to talk to him. The coaches at State told me I need to work on my technique. They are going to send me a tape to help me with it. They said that once I got my technique down that I will be a pretty good player."

"Mississippi State, Troy, Duke and UConn are some of the schools that stay in contact with letters and stuff. I don't really have a favorite. Mississippi State is probably the biggest school recruiting me right now."
