Nick Bertella Seeking First
"I am just trying to get noticed. You have to approach these camps with the attitude you will not lose. I approach them like I would a game," Nick Bertella stated.
"I have to win the coaches over at every stop. I am not 6-5 like a lot of these cats you go against in camps."
"I went to Vanderbilt a while back, and Coach Togo was highly interested in me. He took me in his office and talked to me. He really liked me. He said I was not the typical defensive tackle because of my height. I measured 6', and I weighed 239. I have lost 11 pounds, because I will play linebacker this year. I will also continue to play offensive line."
"I also visited Wofford. I toured the facilities, and they were very nice. They did not know me, but I gave them my film while I was there. They called me after seeing my tape. They told me I was very high on their defensive line board. They really liked my film."
"I went to Elon for their one-day camp, after I visited Wofford. I did not lose a single one-on-one match up, and they liked my footwork and my hands. They are really, really interested in me."
"My last stop that week was Furman. I did not know it when I headed out there, but it was an offensive camp. I worked with the offensive linemen, and I held my own. The coaches pulled me aside and told me I was a little undersized, but they really liked me at center."
If you think Nick Bertella is finished with camps, think again. He has two camps lined up for this weekend.
"I am going to Mississippi State Friday and Saturday for the seven-on-seven camp. Sunday, I am also going to UT Chattanooga for their one-day camp," Bertella concluded.
Bertella is also receiving interest from Army, UAB, Memphis, Troy, Samford and Vanderbilt.
