SEC Publishers: Players of the Week SEC publishers make their selections for Players of the Week for performances in the first week of action of college football.

Publishers cannot select a player from their site represented team, and the votes are all tabulated.


Charles Scott

Offense: Charles Scott, running back, LSU
Charles Scott had a career-high 160 yards on 16 touches with two touchdowns in the win over Appalachian State, 41-13.

Defense: Myron Pryor, defensive lineman, Kentucky
The Wildcats defeated Louisville 27-2. Myron Pryor, 310 pounds, scampered 72 yards for a touchdown after recovering a fumble.

Brandon James

Special Teams: Brandon James, punt returner, Florida
Brandon James returned four kicks totaling 95 yards, including a 74-yard touchdown in the Gators' victory over Hawaii 56-10.

Mark Ingram

Newcomer: Mark Ingram, freshman running back, Alabama.
In a game with two of the nation's best tailbacks, Clemson's C.J. Spiller and James Davis, it was 5-10, 215-pound Mark Ingram who emerged as the outstanding runner in the game. In his college debut he rushed 17 times for a game-high 96 yards, a 5.6 yards-per-carry average, and had the longest run of the game, a 28-yard burst.
