Stars of Alabama
Josh Rowe (6-0, 207-pounds)
David Thomas (6-2, 211-pounds)
6A Opelika 3-0 (2-0)
The top-ranked Bulldogs have found little to get in their way thus far. Their ASWA All-State linebacker Josh Rowe is keeping up with last year's exemplary play and will look for a repeat of that honor this season. Rowe had 10 tackles in a defensive effort that held opponent Dothan to 35 yards of total offense.
Quarterback David Thomas completed 11-of-12 passes for 154 yards with a 10-yard touchdown pass. The senior carried the ball four times for 42 yards and a three-yard touchdown in a first-half only performance. Opelika won 34-0.

Next: Theodore 2-1 (2-0)
Ontario Little (5-9, 215-pounds)
Senior Running Back
5A Citronelle 1-2 (1-1)
Little and his Wildcats seem to run short on luck in close games. They are six points away from an undefeated season. Their first loss came against 6A Mary Montgomery 23-20. They won over John LeFlore 41-34 in their first region game and dropped the past week's Vigor game 25-22. If Little can continue to produce efforts like he did Friday night their upcoming games against Faith Academy, St. Paul's and Spanish Fort should be contentious.
Little followed with a 171-yard rushing game last week with a 180-yard game on Friday. The senior scored three touchdowns.
Next: Faith Academy 2-1 (1-1)
Jeremy Davis (5-8, 160 pounds)

Boone had 13 tackles, with 2.5 sacks, a fumble recovery and two quarterback hurries in the important region win.
Coach Alex Wilson has made a big difference for this Anniston High School team. The school showed signs of life last year (4-6) under his tutelage, after a 1-9 season in 2006. The Bulldogs took an overtime matchup against Saks last week, 19-16.
Next: Cleburne County (Heflin) 2-1 (1-1) will host Anniston.
Alex Mitchell (6-2, 180-pounds)
4A Brooks 3-0 (2-0)
Brooks' offense is humming along with a 115 point scoring output in their three games. Mitchell had a great night against Rogers in a 35-14 victory. Sophomore Defensive Back/Cornerback
5A Walker 2-1 (1-1)
Kirk had seven tackles and two interceptions with one of the interceptions coming in the second quarter. The offense took over the ball executing the hook and ladder to perfection for an 84-yard touchdown.
It would have been real easy for Coach (John) Holladay's team to lose some steam coming off the 26-14 region loss to Cullman. Followed by a non-region game against a team that was undefeated in the regular season in 2007. Perhaps the effort Walker put forth against Cullman actually sharpened this team because they showed no signs of a letdown.
Next: Back to region play and the road for the Vikings. They will meet Hayden 1-2 (1-1) coming off a 24-0 win over Brewer to get them off the Schneid.
Anthony Bowie (6-1, 180-pounds)

5A Erwin 2-1 (2-1)
Anthony Bowie rolled up 428 total yards in a powerful performance. The senior had 294 yards passing and 134 yards rushing. Bowie had two rushing touchdowns and two through the air including a 58-yard score.
Baker took care of business defensively with 14 tackles, four assists, a sack, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. Baker was an ASWA All-State first team selection in 2007.
Erwin dropped their opening region game to Pleasant Grove 18-12, but they have bounced back with wins over Curry and Mortimer Jordan.

4A UMS-Wright 2-1 (2-0)
Dukes had a huge week for Coach Terry Curtis, rushing for 234 yards on 28 carries and gaining 112 yards in returns. The sophomore had touchdown runs of 79, 49, and 13 yards in the 35-12 victory.
The Bulldogs opened against one of the best 6A schools in the state, third-ranked McGill Toolen. The Yellow Jackets are undefeated and yet to find a challenge in their own ranks, much less 4A. UMS-Wright came back from that loss with region wins over Thomasville and Hillcrest-Evergreen in their return to the 4A classification from 5A.
Next: Clarke County 1-2 (1-1) at home
Drew Phillips (6-1, 190-pounds)

Next: It doesn't get easier for Boaz as they travel this week to Scottsboro 2-1 (2-0).
Tyler Caldwell (6-0, 200 pounds)
5A Cullman 3-0 (3-0)
Cullman keeps rolling along as they won their 13th consecutive regular season game. Their senior quarterback has racked up over 900 yards in three games.
Caldwell was at it again in a 49-7 win over Pleasant Grove. He completed 18-of-25 passing attempts for 309 yards and five touchdowns.

Fairfield opened the season with a loss to 6A opponent Jess Lanier. A team that boasts Auburn University verbal commitment, Brandon Heavens who had over 3,100 total yards in 2007. This past week, they faced a Carver team who has dropped from 6A, but has not found the going any easier.
The Purple and Gold Tigers put up a large offensive outlay (55-19) not normally seen from a Coach Jim Vakakes' team.
Next: The Tigers are on the road this week to Brookwood 1-2 (1-2).
