Trey Spiller talks recruiting

Trey Spiller is a 6-6, 285-pound offensive lineman for Hokes Bluff, and he has the attention of college coaches around the area. caught up to Trey Spiller at his home last week, and he discussed the latest developments in his recruiting.

"I have received a lot of interest from a lot of schools," Trey Spiller told us.

"I have Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Duke, Troy, UAB, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, Marshall, Southern Miss and a lot of D-2 schools showing me interest.

"UAB is the only school I have an offer from right now. I talked to coach Zo on the phone, and he told me it was a done deal. They wanted to see me, and offer me in person," Spiller explained.

"They [UAB] really liked my film, and they have invited me to the Memphis game, and I plan to go."
BR> "I have been in touch with Auburn recently, and they want me to send them my film after this week's game. They are like most teams recruiting me. They all want to evaluate me after I have played a few games this season."

"I haven't talked to Alabama in a while. They seem to have backed off me."

"Duke is recruiting me pretty hard. I get a letter from them everyday. I get a box full of mail everyday from different schools, but Duke sends me something every single day."

"Everyone is recruiting me as an offensive lineman. I haven't had anyone talk to me about playing on the defensive side of the ball."

Spiller made several camps over the summer, including Alabama, Auburn and Mississippi State.

"I enjoyed all the camps, but Auburn was my favorite," he said. "The coaches took time to work with you one-on-one. It was a two-day camp, and I really liked it."

"At Alabama everything was very fast paced, and I didn't get the reps I got at Auburn or Mississippi State. It was a half-day linemen camp. So many guys showed up for it they couldn't get many reps in."

"I know coach Saban pointed me out one time, and wrote something down on paper. I don't know if it was good, or bad," Spiller chuckled.

"The Mississippi State camp was a lot different than Alabama and Auburn. We done all our reps from the two-point-stance position. I thought I had a good camp at Mississippi State, and they still stay in touch with me."

Spiller traveled to UT-Chattanooga over the weekend in hopes of receiving an offer while visiting.

"Chattanooga has been one team showing a lot of interest in me, and they invited me up there for the game. We will see how that goes," Spiller concluded.
